Kaziranga University, also known as Assam Kaziranga University is a private university located in North East of India. The lush green campus of the university certainly lives up to its reputation. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is known as a research university. Kaziranga University is also approved by AICTE and is a member of the AIU. The university has also signed MoUs with various universities and institutions such as UNESCO, AGIIT, Safeudcate, MTAB, JNU, IIRS, etc.

A total of 47 courses are offered under the umbrella of Kaziranga University at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate level. These courses are available in multiple disciplines such as Engineering, Health Sciences, Computing Sciences, Basic Sciences, Social Sciences, Management, etc. Candidates applying for these courses are also provided with up to 100% scholarships on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.

However, there is other side of the fence as well. If the reviews of students are to be believed, the placements for BTech are not good and the companies offering low salaries only visit Kaziranga University for placements.

If we look at the NIRF Ranking for Kaziranga University for the past few years, it has shown improvement. Every year, the university is climbing up in the ranking that shows the university is performing well in academia overall.

Academic Composition

The academic composition of Kaziranga University includes written exams, class assignments, and viva. The overall score of students is converted into Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The grades also include the score for attendance. The minimum requirement of attendance for completing the coursework is 75%. 

Total Courses

Kaziranga University offers 45 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels. At the UG level, the university offers BTech, BBA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BSc, BPharm, etc. as popular courses. At the PG level, the university offers MTech, MBA, MSc, MPT, etc. as popular courses. The university also offers PhD courses in various disciplines such as Engineering, Science, IT, Social Science, and others.

The academic pattern of Kaziranga University is not new but similar to other universities in the country. However, the mandatory requirement of 75% attendance might feel limiting to some students. There is a vast option of courses and specialisations offered which is a plus point. Also, all of these courses are approved by recognised bodies which stands as evidence for the quality of education.

Auditorium/ Seminar Halls/ Labs

Kaziranga University has a central auditorium and a mini auditorium. The central auditorium is the largest on campus and has a seating capacity of over 1,000 people. It is used for a variety of events, such as conferences, seminars, and cultural performances. On the other hand, the mini auditorium is smaller than the central auditorium and has a seating capacity of around 500 people. It is used for smaller events, such as guest lectures, workshops, and student presentations.

There is a central library at Kaziranga University which is fully equipped with various reading resources. The library has a collection of national and international journals (Printed and Online), magazines, articles, etc. There are over 7100 books, 38 journals, and 104 periodicals in the central library.

Kaziranga University can be reached by air, rail, or road. The nearest airport is Jorhat Airport, which is situated at around 10 km from the campus. The university also provides a shuttle bus service from the airport and railway station to the campus.

Hostel

Kaziranga University has separate hostels for both boys and girls. If the students' feedback is to be believed, the hostel facilities are very good with separate gyms, sports facilities, medical facilities, laundry services, etc. The mess of the hostels is very clean and the food is surprisingly tasty.

If the reviews of students is to be believed, these events are super fun and students wait for these events all year round.

Kaziranga University is rich in its infrastructure and other facilities. This shows the commitment to providing its students and faculty with the best possible facilities and services. The university's high-speed internet service is an important part of its commitment to providing its students and faculty with a high-quality education and research facilities which is not hindered by connectivity issues, at least not in the 21st century!

If the above report released by Kaziranga University is to be believed, the university provides average placement to students. While the number of companies is quite fair given the strength of students, providing the highest package as 12 LPA seems to be average for BTech students. The average package of BTech and MBA courses does not seem to be at par with the industry standards given the popularity of these courses in India and the associated expectations of ROI.

Kaziranga University is located at Koraikhowa, on the outskirts of Jorhat city in Assam, India. The campus is located near NH 37, which makes it well-connected to other major cities in Assam and the rest of India. The university campus is spread over 100 acres and is surrounded by lush green tea gardens.

Kaziranga University: Expectation vs Reality!

Kaziranga University is a relatively new university, and it is still developing. The university's faculty are generally well-qualified, but there are some exceptions. The campus is still under construction, and some of the facilities are not yet fully operational. The university does fine in terms of the present facilities offered and with the large number of courses. But again, there is a significant lack in terms of placement and ROI on course fees.
