Candidates seeking admission to B.A.LL.B (Hons.) or LL.M course at NLU Kochi must appear for CLAT. To register for the same, go through the process mentioned below:
Candidates who seek admission to the 5-year Integrated B.A.LL.B (Hons.) degree at NLU Kochi must have qualified the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks.
Exemption up to 5% for the qualifying examination is given to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST), as declared eligible for reservation in the State of Kerala and up to 3% is offered to the candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes, as declared eligible for reservation in the State of Kerala. These categories are allowed to apply for CLAT if they obtain not less than 40% and 42% of marks, respectively, in the qualifying examination.
Students who are appearing for the qualifying examination are allowed to appear for CLAT. However, they should submit the results of the qualifying examination at the time of admission. If they do not do so, the candidates shall be considered ineligible.

For admission to LLM at NLU Kochi, the candidate must have passed the 5-year Integrated B. A. LL.B. (Hons.) Degree of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto with at least 55% marks in aggregate. Minimum marks in case of SC/ST candidates is 50%.
Admission to the BA+LL.B. (Hons.)/LL.M Degree course shall be based on the performance in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) on the merit-cum-preference basis.
Candidates who want to take up the PhD programme at National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi should meet the following criteria:
Candidates seeking admission to PhD as a full time or part-time candidate must submit their application form along with the payment of the required fees. Candidates wishing to do research in recognised institutions must submit the application through the Head of the Institution to the Registrar of the University.
DAT, the deciding exam shall have two parts- written test and interview. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the interview. The candidates shall also be assessed on the basis of their past academic records, their research proposal submitted in the application along with the future plan of the academic work to be taken up by the candidate.
