It was a private institution under Vaid Hakim Parishad of Himachal Pradesh through the efforts of Vaid Jagan Nath Sharma. It was then affiliated with Punjab Faculty Chandigarh. Later in 1979, it was affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University. It was also known as Paprola Ayurvedic College. It is recognised by the National Council for the Indian System of Medicine, a regulatory body of Ayurvedic Education for Govt of India.
Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College courses are offered at UG and PG levels. The UG course is BAMS and the PG programme is MD/ MS. To reach here from Mathura, you have to check the trains towards Himachal Pradesh having stoppage at Baijnath Paprola. This station is the nearest railway station to the college. However, you have to take a cab, shared taxi or bus to reach the Rajiv Gandhi Government Post Graduate Ayurvedic College campus.
