The College Central Library providing service to students and Faculty has been automated infrastructural facilities. With the State-of-the art equipments, college has a huge collection of information, which are available in digital format including audio/video, online courses apart from books and periodicals.Sethu Institute of Technology has got separate hall of residences for both boys and girls with excellent infrastructural facilities for the cosy and comfortable staying of the inmates. The hall of residence for women is very spacious with 52 furnished rooms accommodating 282 students. A warden will be taking charge of all the issues inside the premises. There is also a prayer hall, a browsing center, a net room and a store. Two rooms are allotted exclusively for faculty members.In the same expected standard the hall of residence for boys can accommodate 364 students with furnished rooms for their comfortable stay. Two wardens are deputed to monitor all the activities.Transport is the main considering the strength of around 2,400 students, 300 faculty and other 200 staff members. The college is fully geared up to meet all the needs for better commuting from college to respective places from far away locations covering almost 60 kms in and around Madurai city. To beef up such demands Sethu Institute of Technology transport section operates a fleet of 51 buses with the driver strength of 60. Apart from this, there are 5 Mazda vans and 15 cars to Ply from different destinations. The general route covers the areas of Madurai, Aruppukkottai, Usilampatti, Sholavandan, Melur, Thirumangalam and Virudhunagar.

The Hall of Residences are provided with built-in wardrobes, cupboards, cots, tables and chairs including hot water facility.Round the clock phone facility is available and also to continuously monitor the hostel campus securities will be on their duty 24×7. The wi-fi technology enables the inmates to update their knowledge then and there. Study hours are planned to see that the students fare well in the examinations. Special coaching classes are conducted for slow learners of hostels after regular class hours. The dining halls are always maintained with spic and span and hygienic food is provided for the inmates. There is a separate vegetarian and non- vegetarian dining hall. Many more facility are available such as prayer hall, TV hall, gym hall, browsing center, net room, and store. Carom board, and other indoor games are provided for recreation. There is also a STD booth inside the hostel premises

The Fine Arts club of Sethu Institute of Technology aims at identifying the various hidden talents of our students and to bring them out. It provides an environment for the education, creation, performance and celebration of arts. It encourages and brings out the artistic capabilities of students in the field of Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts and other cultural activities.

Objectives of the Association :

• To motivate students for Inter-college cultural events to enable them to prove their mettle.

An Event of Joy- Muthamizh Kalai Mandram is the most awaited and major attraction of Fine arts club. Muthamizh Kalai Mandram is an intra-collegiate cultural competition in which more than 900 students competes. One auditorium ‘Pavendhar Bharathithasan Arangam’ in the main campus of the institution with a seating capacity of 800 and a green room and seven Air conditioned seminar Halls in various department blocks are available for organizing cultural programmes. Besides, major cultural events are organized in the Open air theatre which has a seating capacity of 5000. These halls provide ample space for conducting cultural programs / events. The College team has won prizes in various intercollegiate level competitions. Muthamizh Kalai Mandram also invites guests from the world of music, art, theatre etc. The events which are organized by the club includes Rangoli, Mehandi, Cartooning, Paint the face, Art from waste, Dance, Orchestra , Elocution , Recitation , Tamil and English Verse writing and skit. Women Empowerment cell is active in the college since 2005 to empower girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for women students and faculty members. With a view to taking up women’s issues and problems, the cell aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and other welfare activities. The responsibilities of the Women Empowerment Cell is to follow the Mandatory Guide lines and directions of the Anna University, Chennai, regarding the security arrangements for Girl Students and Women staff of our Institution.

Sethu institute of technology along with YEI (Youth EXNORA International) has launched the SIT YOUTHEXNORA ECOCLUB on 8/10/11. YEI Madurai has joined hands with NSS of SIT, Kariapatti and college’s Quality Circle Team- OASIS to initiate the concept of green campus. During the Inauguration function, the Principal felicitated the gathering and chief guest MR.S.P.Ramkumar, Vice President YEI briefed about SIT YOUTH EXNORA ECO CLUB. The club was inaugurated, by giving the pot of emerging life to the QC co-coordinatorProf.A. Merline (ECE Department ), Mrs.Poomani @ Punitha QC Facilitator (CSE department ), Mr.J.Kumaresen NSS Officer (ICE department )and the OASIS team members, by the chief guest S.P.Ramkumar& The Principal Dr.A.Senthilkumar. The main aim of the club is make SIT GREEN by various projects like solid waste management, campus cleaning and developing the youth.

An awareness camp was conducted by the chief guest Mr.S.P.Ramkumar which motivated all of the students to move towards a greener environment and know their responsibilities towards the nature on the day of inauguration

The overall aim of National Service as envisaged earlier is to give an extension dimension to the higher education system and orient the student youth to community service while they are studying in educational institutions
