SEC was established at Arasampatti near Tirumayam on the Natinal Highway 210,17 kms from Pudukottai and 25 kms from Karaikudi.  The college is located in a sprawling campus amidst serene and calm surrounding ideally suited for the pursuit of learning.  The idea behind shanmuganathan Engineering college is to help students free themselves from the traditional ways of looking at things and instead constantly question and challenge themselves, society and the world at large. The training methodlogy focuses on peronality development, and improving communication skills, managerial and administrative skills.facilities for training  & placement, sports and games, personality and career development etc are the  specialties of  SEC.

the student Hostels are designed and built keeping in mind the main aspects of comfortable l8ifestyle.  There are separate hostels for boys and girls.       The college will be providing separate hostels for boys and girls with mess facility, near the campus. The hostel warden and staff will ensure a  comfortable atmosphere with healthy meals.

A large number of students live on campus to avail of the 24/7 living and learning environment at SEC 

Some of the Faculty and staff live on campus as well. The accommodation is at a walking distance from the academic blocks within the campus.

NSS programme officer take interest to initiate the students in social movements .Along with the NSS programme officer teachers from various departments are assigned to execute the works in the proper way • Students are involved in a number of activities that result in social movements and in effect promote citizenship roles with full support of the institution. • NSS and RRB focus on promoting citizenship role of students. • All the activities are tracked by NSS programme officer and counselor. Close watch is kept on the attendance of the students to these programmes. • Various social movements/ activities like blood donation camps, Women’s safety programme, Eye camp, Health camp etc. are organized as requested by the public. • Through extracurricular activities and value education provided students learn about social evils, social environment, requirement of individual contribution to the society and citizenship responsibility
