University of Engineering & Management Kolkata is a well-known and established brand in Kolkata. It was founded in 2014 by the IEM Group of institutions and is built up at 46 acres of land.

The UEM Kolkata Admission procedure depend totally upon the level of education and the specific course opted for by the student. However, there are multiple ways to meet the selection criteria and avail admission into the University.

Undergraduate Courses

Most undergraduate courses' selection is made based on previous board examination results. For Instance, 50% aggregate is mandatory for the open category, and students have to meet this criterion no matter what. 

Once this is met, students need to attend the IEM JEE examination designed by the UEM Kolkata officials to understand and gauge the student capacity. Now, depending on the performance in the IEM JEE examination, the admissions will be finalised.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications) 

The UEM Kolkata MCA admission process course is based on the standard entrance test JECA (West Bengal) or any other National Level or State Level Examination.

Applicants will have to proceed with the Group Discussions and Personal Interviews before finalisation of the Admission decision in case they have not attended any of the competitive examinations outside the UEM Kolkata.

MBA (Master of Business Administration) 

To get admission in UEM Kolkata students need to attempt CAT / MAT / WBJEMAT and other National Level or State Level Exam and ensure they get at least 85 Percentile. 

Applicants will have to proceed with the Group Discussions and Personal Interviews before finalisation of the Admission decision in case they have not attended any of the competitive examinations outside the UEM Kolkata.

UEM Kolkata Admission Portal

University of Engineering & Management Kolkata has created an admission portal based on the IEMJEE examination. Students need to register for the examination first. Then, the application procedure will continue to post the exam results depending on the student's performance. 

Further document verification and validation will happen after the internal competitive exam only.

UEM Kolkata Application Process

Direct Application:

The UEM Kolkata considers direct applications for most courses. It requires the candidate to attempt the IEMJEE examination to prove their abilities and interest in the selected program.

The exam is designed to test almost all aspects of the candidate's career profile before providing the admission confirmation. Students need to apply online for the IEM JEE and attempt the test after having their board examination results. Bachelor in Technology:

  • Admissions to the B. Tech program are based on the IEMJEE examination, an internal entrance test conducted by the UEM Kolkata. 
  • To be eligible for the exam, students have to get at least 50% on their 12th board and have Mathematics as one of the core subjects so that the candidate can understand the engineering concepts.

Bachelor in Business Administration:

Bachelor in Computer Applications:

  • Admission for the Bachelor in Computer Applications course is done based on the 12th board and secure a minimum of 50% combined.

Bachelor of Hotel & Hospitality Management:

  • Admissions to the Bachelor of Hotel and Hospitality management are also based on 10+2 qualifications. 
  • It is mandatory to have at least a 50% aggregate score from a recognised board or college by the Government of India. 
  • The candidate has to apply for the IEMJEE to avail of admission into this program and depending on the shortlist, admission confirmation will be provided.

Bachelor in Science/Bachelor in Law:

  • This combo course is a combination of two different degrees and allows students to finish off the integrated program 1 year earlier compared to the time is taken when done individually. 
  • The candidate must get at least 60% in their 12th board from a recognised college and apply for the IEMJEE examination. 
  • If this program is chosen, it is mandatory to have a science subject in the 12th phase. Depending on the shortlisted candidates, admissions will be facilitated.

Bachelor in Business Administration/Bachelor in Law:

  • This is also an integrated course that helps students save 1 year by completing both degrees in 5 years. But instead of a science degree, students get a Bachelor in Business Administration degree in the combined program. 
  • The percentage requirements and board recognition remain the same as the previous combo course. 
  • To get admission in UEM Kolkata candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of IEM JEE test conducted at the university.

Postgraduate & Higher Programs

To get admission in UEM Kolkata, students need to follow the below.

Master in Computer Application: 

  • This is a postgraduate program that requires students to complete their Bachelor in Computer Applications before being eligible for the entrance examinations. Students from other disciplines are also eligible if they have mathematics as their core subject. 
  • Once the graduation criteria are met, the candidate must attempt JECA (West Bengal) to claim admission to this program. If the entrance test is not attempted, they will have to go through the Personal Interviews, Group Discussions, and internal examination before receiving the final approval for admission.

Master in Business Administration: 

  • For admissions into the master's in Business Administration, candidates need to complete any graduation degree from a recognised board or university by the government of India. 
  • Once done, they have to attempt CAT / MAT / WBJEMAT or any other National Level or State Level Exam with at least 85 percentiles to be eligible for the admissions. 
  • If the external entrance tests are in the student profile, then the UEM Kolkata will conduct Personal Interviews, Group Discussions, and internal examinations before finalising the admission.

Doctor of Philosophy: 

  • The UEM Kolkata offers full-time and part-time Integrated PH. D programs for the convenience of the applicants.

UEM Kolkata Admission Dates

The admissions for the year start before the results of the previous board are out. Hence, students can apply for the IEMJEE beforehand. 

If they applied earlier, students can choose any Date between 21st February 2024 and 13th April 2024 (Tentative) to take the online examination for the admissions. 

Once the results are out and if students applied and cleared the entrance test meets the criteria, further processing is done.

The UEM Kolkata Application Process

UEM Kolkata admission process is a little time-consuming, but students get the best program for their careers depending on the plans and opportunities.

  2. The next step is to enter the full name as per the Aadhaar records
  3. Enter the Email address for all the official communications.
  4. Provide the Mobile number without any prefix so that OTP can be validated.
  5. Click the Register button, pay the IIMJEE test fee, and select a date for the exam.
  6. Once the date is selected, download the Hall ticket from the same page by clicking the ‘Download Hall ticket’ button.
  7. After the exam is attended and if shortlisted, another set of instructions will be provided via email and mobile, where document submissions, application fees and other mandatory submissions are needed.
