The college understands the importance of modern infrastructure in providing a rich teaching learning experience to the students. With the increase in the courses the college is offering, infrastructural expansion is a must. The College authority i.e. the Principal along with the UGC Building Committee and Purchase Committee first identifies areas that need infrastructural consolidation and expansion before tapping funding authorities for resources. For example, it was seen that hostels are a must to attract students from far flung remote areas. Similarly, it was felt that the Central Library was not adequate to the needs of a 21st century institution. The floor space needed to be increased to make available a spacious reading enclosure for users and stock titles in a user-friendly way for open access. Likewise, the opening of Postgraduate courses meant further infrastructural expansion. And it similarly dawned on all of us that the land the college had in its possession was not commensurate with the ambitions it harboured. The erstwhile area of 2.69 acres was simply inadequate to the growing needs of the college.It gives us great satisfaction to point out that on all these counts we have taken significant strides forward. The two storied Girls’ hostel Kalpana Chaola Hall has been complete and been functional for the last few years. The Boys’ Hostel is also complete and boarders will be moving in from this year. The Library has been relocated from the ground floor to the second floor and now with additional infrastructural funds available a new library building is being constructed. The opening of Post graduate Courses has meant that a new Postgraduate building is in the pipeline. For the time being, the second floor of the newly constructed Science Block is being used for Postgraduate studies. The college has also been able to add to its area. While it added .14 acres in 2007-08, in 2010-11 another .73 acres were acquired. At present the college has 3.56 acres of land, an increase of more than 25% from the time of the last NAAC visit.
