PFMS Scholarship

The PFMS Scholarship 2024 is a government monetary assistance program offered by the Ministry of Education to economically weak students who are pursuing higher education in India. PFMS Scholarship 2024 – Central Sector Schemes

The Central Sector Schemes are exclusively funded by the Central Government and executed through a central government agency. One such scheme is the scholarship program, which is administered through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). These scholarships are commonly referred to as PFMS Scholarships. 

PFMS Scholarship 2024 – Centrally-Sponsored Schemes (CSS)

PFMS Scholarship for Students in Colleges/ Universities

Eligibility Criteria

• Secured the top 20% position in the Class XII examination.
• The family income should not be more than INR 6 LPA.
• The age limit is 18-25 years.

Scholarship Benefits

• INR 1000 per annum for 3-year UG courses.
• INR 2000 per month for PG courses.
• INR 2000 per month for professional studies in the 4th & 5th years.

National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship

The National Means-cum-Merit Scheme (NMMS) is a scholarship program provided by the Department of Elementary Education (HRD) for candidates in government, local bodies, or government-aided schools. Candidates should not be availing of benefits of other scholarships and should not have a part-time or a full-time job at the time of application. It is important to note that the scheme will be discontinued if the candidate has a gap in a session. However, if you are eligible and meet the requirements, the NMMS scholarship will be provided for four years.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates from the General category are required to have scored a minimum of 55% in class VIII.
• Candidates from the SC/ST category are required to have scored a minimum of 50% in class VIII.
• All candidates must have cleared the state-level exams in the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

Scholarship Benefits

• INR 1500 is paid every three months for four years (total INR 6,000 per annum).

Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC Category Students

The Pre-Matric Scholarship for SC students is provided by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The scholarship scheme is aimed at providing educational opportunities to deserving and meritorious students. This scholarship is centrally sponsored, and students can apply online through their respective state portals.

Eligibility Criteria

• Should belong to an SC category.
• Should be studying in class 9th or 10th.
• The family income should not exceed INR 1,00,000 per annum.

Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Category Students

The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment offers Post-matric scholarships for students belonging to the SC category. This scholarship is sponsored by the central government and is available to those who have passed their class X examination. Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should belong to the SC category
• Should have passed the class X examination.
• Students in classes XI and XII, as well as those pursuing professional courses, graduation, LL.M, commercial pilot licenses, C.A./I.C.W.A./C.S./I.C.F.A., M.Phil, PhD, and postdoctoral studies, are eligible to apply.

Top Class Education Scheme for SC Category

The PFMS scholarship scheme selects the top 207 academic institutions in India, including prestigious names such as IIM, IIT and NIT, based on academic excellence. Through this scholarship, students belonging to the SC category through different states, UT Administration, and the Head of Institution from the selected school, can get a high-quality education. This scholarship is sponsored by the central government and can be applied through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates should belong to the SC category.
• The family income should not be more than INR 4.5 LPA.

Scholarship Benefits

• The tuition fee as well as other non-refundable fees are covered under the scheme. However, for students studying in private institutions, there is a limit of INR 2,00,000 per annum, while for students pursuing commercial pilot training in private institutions, the limit is INR 3,72,000 per annum.
• An amount of INR 2,220 is paid every month towards living expenses, and an additional amount of INR 3,000 is given every year towards books and stationery charges.
• Moreover, each student is awarded the latest computer within a limit of INR 45,000.
• However, it is important to note that the cost of living, books, stationery, and computers are subject to the actual price.

To apply for a PFMS scholarship online, you must take the following steps:

• Firstly, visit the official website (pfms.nic.in) and click on the 'PFMS scholarship student registration' option on the homepage.
• Next, select the desired scheme and provide all the necessary information asked on the new page that opens up.
• Enter your 12th standard education, basic details along with the Board of Education, bank account details, and IFSC code from the drop-down menu.
• Submit this information through the portal immediately after selecting the category.
• Then, provide your mobile number details and fill in the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
• After verification of your mobile number, enter your email ID and create a user id and password for future login.
• Select the user ID and password and provide a captcha code to proceed.
• In the next step, it is required to upload the relevant documents. Select the sections and upload the documents which are asked for.
• Finally, click on the submit button for the final submission.
