Prathibha Scholarship

Prathibha Scholarship Programme 2025 is designed to encourage bright students to pursue higher studies in Science by providing scholarships. In addition to financial support, Prathibha Scholars get the opportunity to participate in Science Orientation Programmes and engage with leading scientists through the Student Programme for Excellence in Experimental Design (SPEED) scheme.

Selection for the Prathibha Scholarship at the undergraduate level is based on the marks obtained in all Science subjects in the Higher Secondary Examination. Applicants must have secured admission to a 3-year undergraduate (U.G.) or a 5-year integrated postgraduate (P.G.) program in Basic or Natural Sciences. The scholarship is available for a maximum of five years, covering both U.G. and P.G. studies, subject to renewal as per the prescribed guidelines.

The Prathibha Scholarship is awarded to students of Kerala origin who have performed meritoriously in the Higher Secondary Examination. It supports their pursuit of undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in Basic or Natural Sciences at institutions and universities across India.

If you are applying for the KSCSTE-sponsored Prathibha scholarship, you can receive financial aid based on the level of the course you wish to pursue. If you have enrolled in this scheme for your UG program, you can extend it to a master’s degree through the renewal process. Here are some key features of this scheme:

• Under this scheme, you will receive an annual amount based on your education level.
• This scholarship program is designed to provide excellent opportunities for academically brilliant students who struggle to continue their studies due to financial constraints.
• If selected under this financial aid program, you will have a golden opportunity to interact with top researchers and scientists in the Science Orientation programs.
• Your scholarship can be extended further based on your performance, but you must apply for renewal.

If you have completed your 10+2 from a recognised board and wish to pursue higher studies in natural or basic science subjects, you can apply for this scholarship. Before submitting your application, it is recommended that you review the eligibility criteria below to avoid any confusion later.

• You should be of Kerala origin.
• You must have qualified for the Higher Secondary Examination from Kerala.
• You should have secured a minimum of 90% marks or an equivalent grade for all subjects combined, as well as a minimum of 90% marks or an equivalent grade for all Science subjects combined. (For SC/ST candidates, the eligibility requirement is a minimum of 80% marks or an equivalent grade for both total subjects and Science subjects.)
• You must have gained admission to a 3-year B.Sc., 5-year Integrated M.Sc., or 5-year Integrated BS-MS course in Basic or Natural Sciences (covering 23 subjects listed in the guidelines) at any recognized institution or university in India.

The Prathibha Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students pursuing higher education in various fields. Eligible subjects typically include engineering, medical sciences, natural sciences, social sciences, humanities, and commerce. Professional and technical courses such as management, law, architecture, and pharmacy may also qualify. The scholarship primarily supports students excelling in their chosen disciplines, ensuring financial assistance for tuition and other academic expenses.

Online Registration

Step 1: Register online before the stipulated deadline as per the notification issued by KSCSTE.

Step 2: Before starting the online registration, ensure the following:

• A valid mobile number and email ID that will remain accessible throughout the selection process.
• A recent passport-size photograph with dimensions 150W × 200H pixels.

Step 3: Enter your Name, Date of Birth, Email ID, and HSE Roll Number to begin the online registration process.

Step 4: Enter the OTP received on your mobile number and set a password (minimum 6 characters) to proceed with the registration.

Step 5: Upon successful registration, an Application Number will be generated. This number, along with the chosen password, will be sent to your registered mobile number and should be used for future logins.

Application Process

Step 1: Applications for the Prathibha Scholarship are accepted only through online submission, and you must apply via the Prathibha Scholarship Web Portal.

Step 2: Based on the submitted applications, the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment (KSCSTE) will prepare the Provisional Selection List (PSL).

Step 3: Once the Provisional Rank List (PRL) is published by KSCSTE, students selected in the main PRL must upload the required documents on the Prathibha Scholarship Web Portal for scholarship confirmation and final selection.

Step 4: The Final Rank List will be prepared after document verification.

After the release of the Provisional Selection List (PSL), shortlisted candidates must submit the following documents to complete the application process:

• Marksheet of higher secondary
• Community certificate
• Address proof
• Income certificate
• Student data sheet
• Singed terms and conditions forms

Note: the student data sheet must be attested by the students and head of the institute where the candidates have compelled HSC.

The Prathibha scholarship programme have succeeded in encouraging students coming from deprived economic backgrounds to pursue higher studies in fields of science and research. To help students get better guidance that improves their knowledge base, opportunities to attend science orientation programs are provided. Meritorious students receive garnet based on the course level and policies enforced by the committee. Let’s explore the rewards one can receive through this financial aid scheme.

Per this scholarship scheme, eight chosen prodigies will be selected to work as interns for summer programs at IISER-Trivandrum.

For 3 years UG Program 

For 2 year PG Programme

KSCSTE has formulated certain norms and conditions to grant Prathibha scholarship. Based on the below-mentioned conditions the body can either renew or withdraw the scholarship.

• The scholarship will be granted only to students scoring at least 90% in 10+2 and 75% in UG degrees. Relaxations will be given to the reserved category candidates.
• Selection will be solely based on the marks obtained in each of the science subjects.
• To continue with the scholarship, students need not have any break in their academic program otherwise renewal is not possible.
• Scholars covered under the scheme can get a chance to continue reaping benefits if they succeed in securing 75% in the course they have applied.
• The beneficiaries are required to inform about course discontinuation within 15 days (weekdays only).
• As per the scheme, giving 50% selection chances to female students is mandatory as an objective of the scholarship is women's empowerment through education.
• 10% of the seats will be reserved for the meritorious students from the socially backward classes.

Selection is conducted by the committee member of the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology, and Environment by taking into account the policies of the scholarship scheme, qualification, and academic performance of students. To help you understand the phases of the selection process for the Prathibha Scholarship, check the points below:

Step 1: Ranking is based on the aggregate marks secured in the Higher Secondary Board Examination for all four Science subjects.

Step 2: Eligible applicants are categorized into three Broad Subject Groups based on the subject chosen as the main for their degree course:

• Mathematical Sciences
• Physical Sciences
• Life Sciences

Step 3: Applicants pursuing Triple-main subjects in their UG/Integrated PG course must select one subject category for ranking. Once the application is submitted under a particular category, this option cannot be changed.

Step 4: Applicants are ranked separately within each subject category, and scholarships are distributed as follows:

• 30% for Mathematical Sciences
• 40% for Physical Sciences
• 30% for Life Sciences
  Additionally, 10% of the total seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates.

Step 5: In case of a tie in Science total marks, priority is given based on subject-wise HSE marks in the following order:

• Mathematical Sciences Group: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,  Biology, Overall Marks
• Physical Sciences Group: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Overall Marks
• Life Sciences Group: Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Overall Marks
