The remaining PMRF Granting Institutes receive 1.5% of their existing PhD student strength on May 1st of each year as PMRF seats. If the total PMRF seat requirement for a given year reaches 1000, the previous percentages will be reduced proportionally to keep the total seat requirement from exceeding 1000.
The duration of PMRF is four years for students enrolled in integrated courses and five years for those in B. Tech (or equivalent) programs. Students chosen who have finished MTech/MS/ME after qualifying with a B. Tech and enrolling in the Prime Minister Research Fellowship will receive a fellowship for 4 years.
The PMRF scholarship nominations are submitted by the awarding institutions via the PMRF portal. The Scholars are then asked to submit their applications to the respective insititutions by providing details about themselves.
