Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University (BAOU) Admission 2024 - Dates, Form, Online Process, Fees

BAOU admission 2024-25 is open for all courses. The university admission portal is open twice a year, once in January and then in July. The university offers admission in a total of 82 courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level. BAOU admission is offered on merit basis in all courses other than PhD. The university conducts BAOU PhD Entrance Test (PET) and a personal interview for PhD admission. It also accepts UGC NET/SET scores for PhD admission. The application process of the university is completely online and candidates need to visit the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Open University admission portal to apply for admission. For UG and PG admission, it is mandatory for candidates to register at the Gujarat Common Admission Service (GCAS) portal. The duration of all PG courses is two years barring MLIS that has a course duration of 1 year. BAOU admission to PG courses are done on merit basis. Furthermore, the university conducts BAOU PET for PhD admission. Candidates who have qualified UGC NET/SET are exempted from BAOU PET. Only applicants who have passed master’s degree (in relevant stream) are eligible to apply for PhD admission at BAOU. Final selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination and performance in personal interview. 

The university offers 20 courses at the diploma level. Diploma in Financial Management (DFM), Diploma in Multimedia and Animation (DMA), Diploma in Fashion Designing (DFD), Diploma in Health Sanitary Inspector (DHSI), Diploma in Translation Studies(DTS) etc. are some of the diploma courses candidates can apply for. The eligibility criteria for UG diploma courses at BAOU is Class 12 or its equivalent and for PG diploma it is graduation in any stream. BAOU admission in diploma courses is done based on the marks obtained in the last qualifying examination. 

The university offers 20 certificate courses including Certificate in Childcare and Development (CCCD), Certificate in Environment Awareness (CEA), Certificate in Fashion Designing (CFD), Certificate Course in Spoken Sanskrit (CSS), Certificate in India National Security (CINS), Certificate in Better Parenting (CCBP) etc. In order to be eligible for admission in certificate courses, applicants must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board. BAOU admission in certificate courses are made based on marks obtained by applicants in Class 10.
