Anurag University was established in the year 2002 by the Gayathri Educational and Cultural Trust (GECT) and is considered one of the top private universities in Telangana. The university is recognised by UGC, approved by AICTE, accredited by NBA and NAAC with an A grade and is given autonomous status by JNTU, Hyderabad. 

Anurag University's campus is spread across 55 acres of land. The university offers 14 degrees and 55 courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels such as Engineering, Pharmacy, Education, Management, Liberal Arts and Computer Applications programmes. Anurag University offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and has several industry interactions so that students get the opportunity to develop their practical skills and gain real-world experience. The Male to Female percentage of students on the campus is 25% to 75%. 

One can pursue B.Tech for INR 10,00,000 at Anurag University and B.Pharma, B.Sc and B.Com for INR 3,00,000. Therefore, we can say that the fee structure of the university is on the higher side. The ranking of Anurag University in the Engineering category is improving slowly and it climbs up the ladder a few steps every year. The university has been placed under the 101-150 band for the Engineering course by NIRF Ranking 2023.

 

• According to the Times Top Private Engineering Institute Rankings Survey 2022, Anurag University was ranked 3rd Best Engineering College in Telangana and 13th Best Engineering College in South India.
• Based on THE WEEK-Hansa Research Survey 2019 (Engineering Institute Rankings 2019), the university was ranked 124 in Engineering Colleges in India, 92 in the Private Engineering Colleges category in India, 55 in the South India Engineering Colleges category, and 12 in Hyderabad.

Our Take:

Based on the NIRF rankings, Anurag University is slowly improving in the Engineering and Pharmacy fields. The rank dropped for the Engineering course in 2020 from 160 to 180, however, it has pulled itself up within a year and was ranked 146th in 2021. Although there hasn’t been any drastic improvement in the university ranking, we can still say its curriculum and placements are gradually improving. In terms of overall ranking, there is a chance for the university to improve as the rank band has become stagnant for a few years. Improving the curriculum of other courses is also essential since they are yet to feature in the NIRF rankings.

Our Take:

It is quite evident that Anurag University is opening scopes for students from the engineering departments by collaborating with companies. However, not many collaborations have been made in favour of students from other courses. Therefore, non-engineering graduates are at a disadvantage and are somewhat left out of opportunities in terms of industry relations of the university. 

Anurag University Infrastructure

The hostel facility at Anurag University is extremely good and the university brags of being able to provide safe, secure and pleasing accommodations to its students (both boys and girls) to the capacity of 1,600. Spread across 55 acres of land, the university campus has a canteen, stores, a shopping complex, laboratories, a library, an open auditorium, seminar halls, an office room, admission rooms, classrooms and conference rooms. 

   

The hostel accommodation at Anurag University is provided at a nominal cost, which includes various amenities like food, laundry, and other facilities. The university offers a transport facility (bus service) with a charge of INR 20,000 to 30,000. Anurag University has a spacious 25,600 sqft. Central Cafeteria which has a modern kitchen and spacious dining hall maintained in a hygienic environment. The cafeteria provides quality food and prompt service to all the students. Mini cafes and fast-food centres are also available at various blocks all over campus. All food courts supply cool and purified aqua water. The canteen is open from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. The menu features a variety of North Indian, South Indian and Chinese dishes.

Our Take:

Anurag University's hostel facilities are highly appreciated for providing comfortable accommodation for students to reside and focus on their studies. The hostel has 24X7 security and CCTV surveillance, ensuring the safety of students. The campus offers a safe and favourable environment for students to live and succeed. However, if we take a look at the number of students that can be accommodated in the hostel to the number of students getting admitted to Anurag University every year, it appears that the university can increase its accommodation capacity. Students who come from other states prefer to stay in university hostels instead of renting a PG or hostel outside. So, if the accommodation increases, more and more students from outside the state are likely to take admission.

Anurag University provides internship and placement opportunities mostly for Engineering students. According to the cohort of the Engineering department, the university offers a comprehensive programme, top-notch faculty, state-of-the-art infrastructure, great industry exposure and opportunities to ensure that students are well-prepared for the demands of the tech industry.

The university provides campus internships for Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering and other Engineering departments. The university focuses mainly on engineering departments in terms of internships. The Pharmacy department is also popular at Anurag University and it should make attempts to improve internship opportunities and placements for other departments as well. Anurag University has a placement cell, the Training and Placement Division (TPD), that helps students achieve their professional dreams. The TPS invites different companies to participate in the placement drive of Anurag University. It collects the CVs of the students and conducts sessions and screening tests. Our Take:

Anurag University evidently places the primary focus on Engineering placements and the statistics of those are impressive. However, other departments at the university are at a disadvantage with respect to industry collaborations and campus placements. The number of female students at Anurag University compared to the number of male students is higher. The university offers admission to more female students for UG, PG and PhD courses. However, the number of candidates from outside the state is lower if we compare it to the within-state students. Anurag University should also focus on its admission and other facilities so as to attract more students from other states. Expanding hostel accommodation will also enable more students from different states to apply.

Anurag University Faculty

The faculty of Anurag University is well-experienced and very helpful. Students find their faculty approachable so it becomes easy for them to get their doubts cleared. The university hires top-tier faculty members with commendable work experience for different courses. 

There are 5 to 6 faculty members who have completed their PhD in their respective fields. For every 20 students, there is one faculty member allocated and one-on-one sessions are taken up by these faculty members. 

Our Take:

Anurag University faculty is highly qualified and helps in developing the technical skills and practical knowledge of all students. They make efforts to ensure students are getting the required knowledge as per the industry standards. According to the review given by students on Quora, the professors are approachable and encourage discussing doubts.

Anurag University Location

The university is located in Venkatapur in Ghatkesar at Medchal-Malkajgiri district in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Anurag University is about 8 km away from Uppal Bus Station and 20 km from Secunderabad railway station. The nearest bus stop to the university is Chowdaryguda X Road Bus stop which is 2.6 km away. The railway station near the university is Secunderabad Railway Station which is 20 km away, Kacheguda Railway Station which is 21 km away and Hyderabad Deccan Railway Station which is 25 km away. 

Students of Anurag University can take an auto, bus or taxi to reach the university from the bus stop, railway station and airport. About 50 buses ply from all corners of the twin cities to the university. Regular TSRTC buses also connect the university from various places. The university provides bus services for different locations.

Our Take:

The bus service that Anurag University provides is very expensive. Students who live in hostels find it easy to reach college, however, others find it difficult to travel to the university. Paying INR 20,000 to 30,000 for bus charges is not at all pocket-friendly for many students. 

 

Anurag University Expectation vs Reality - CLD Verdict

It is evident that Anurag University is slowly improving according to the NIRF rankings and some of the facilities offered by the university are appreciable. It has great hostel facilities, outdoor games, laboratories, computer labs, etc. Most of the university faculty is also well-trained and provides proper guidance to students. 

As this is a private university, the course fees are a bit on the higher side. As per the placement statistics, Anurag University tends to focus more on Engineering courses as compared to the other programmes. The placement record of the university has been decent for a few years now.
