Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology admissions to B.Tech courses are based on KCET scores. The key dates for KCET 2024 have been announced by KEA. The provisional answer key has been released on April 29, 2024, and the period for raising objections will start from April 30 to May 7, 2024. The final answer key is tentatively set to be released on May 10, 2024, followed by the announcement of results on May 20, 2024.
M.H. Jayaprakash Narayan founded the Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DAIT), Bengaluru, in 1980. The Institute is connected with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is recognized and certified by the AICTE and NBA. It is named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The NAAC has given the Institution an 'A' grade. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework, the Institution ranks 163. (NIRF). The Institute provides graduate, postgraduate, and doctorate programs in all fields. Academic autonomy was granted by the University Grants Commission in New Delhi in 2010, allowing the Institution to design its curriculum, exams, and degree issuing procedures.
The Panchajanya Vidya Peetha Welfare Trust (PVPWT) oversees Dr Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DAIT), one of the Trust's 22 educational institutes. The late Sri M.H. Jayaprakash Narayan worked tirelessly for advancement in the early phases. The story is being carried on by the PVPWT, which is made up of brilliant technocrats, engineers, educators, and philanthropists. The campus is stretched out on the outer ring road near Jnana Bharathi Campus, Mallathahalli, Bengaluru. The Institute has implemented an 'Outcome Based Education' (OBE) system and hands-on learning. Every program's curriculum is developed to achieve inclusivity through multidisciplinary courses and sustainable technology and to suit the program's specific objectives. For the benefit of the students, some courses such as ARM Processors, MEMS, Smart Sensors, Intellectual Property Rights, and inter-departmental electives such as Internet of Things (IoT), Web Design, Elements of Solar Engineering, Nano Technology, and Operations Research have been introduced. Students are encouraged to work on projects with students from other programs and across disciplines. According to the mission, several industry-based laboratories have been established, and industry-prescribed electives are taught to strengthen the relationship between the Institute and the industries. AICTE, DST, DRDO, VTU, and other recognized financial agencies support various research programs. To support the creative research activities, many research instruments and equipment have been purchased.
The Institution employs 532 staff, including 256 faculty, 137 technical employees, and 140 administrative personnel. Every year, the number of people involved in R&D, consulting, and industry-institute collaboration increases. Furthermore, a positive relationship with the Entrepreneurship Network has aided the establishment of private enterprise in students. Faculty Development Programs, Industrial Visits, Workshops, Seminars, Conferences, and other academic events are held to address the needs of faculty, staff, and students.
Every graduate hopes to be hired by a reputable company. The Training and Placement Cell does an excellent job on this. Training programs on-campus aid in developing relationships with firms that come to the college to recruit qualified candidates by assessing their employability skills. 45 enterprises that visit the university translate academic intellectuality into worthwhile employment. Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology offers scholarships and financial aid to qualified applicants. - Department of Civil Engineering: The civil engineering department of Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology is one of the Institute's oldest. Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydraulics, and Water Resources, Geotechnical Engineering, Remote Sensing, and GIS are all areas where the department excels. It has well-established state-of-the-art laboratories, including a CAD lab, a building materials testing lab, an environmental engineering lab, a geotechnical engineering lab, a survey lab, and a highway engineering lab. The department has been designated as a Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, and is equipped to do research in the aforementioned fields.
- Department of Mechanical Engineering: Mechanical engineering is one of the oldest and most diverse engineering disciplines, and it helps to improve safety, economic vitality, enjoyment, and general quality of life all around the world. The department features a team of highly skilled and experienced faculty members and excellent infrastructure and lab equipment. The department has been meeting the needs of students by imparting the most up-to-date and need-based technical information since its start. The department now boasts highly qualified faculty members who have made major contributions in various subjects and have published research papers in reputable publications and international and national conferences.
- Department of Industrial Engineering and Management: The department began in 1984. The professors here are extremely motivated and goal-oriented. All of the faculty members have earned a master's degree, with five of them holding doctorates from top universities and four more pursuing Ph.D. programs. The majority of faculty members occupy prominent positions at the university and serve as examiners for the Visvesvaraya Technological University and other autonomous institutions.
- Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering: Established in 1986. The department's goals have been to match the Instrumentation Technology Education Program with current technology and best practices in Industrial Automation and Embedded Systems to make students Industry-Ready. The department has well-established laboratory facilities for both teaching and research and a research and development center. International companies have signed MOUs with the department. - Department of Computer Science and Engineering: The department was founded in the year 1987. The department has a thriving student body of over 800 students and nearly 36 faculty members. Several government agencies, including the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Vision Group on Science and Technology, have financed the department's research operations in numerous research fields (VGST). - Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering: The Telecommunication Engineering department was founded in 1991. - Department of Medical Electronics and Engineering: The Medical Electronics Department was established in 1999. Biomedical signal processing, IoT in health care, Medical Imaging, and Developing Medical Devices are the focus research topics.
- Department of Computer Applications (MCA): This program began in 1999. In 2016, the MCA program was granted academic autonomy. In the recent past, there has been an increasing trend in the number of students being placed in national and international IT organizations and top corporate bodies. With Doctorate degrees, the faculty members are highly qualified and experienced. Five doctoral degree holders in the department are helping ten research scholars toward their Ph.D. degrees. In addition, the department has cutting-edge infrastructure and computational capabilities, and high-speed Internet access.
- Department of Business Administration (MBA): Production, marketing, finance, human resource, international business, entrepreneurship, banking, insurance, technology, and operations are all covered by the MBA department, which was founded in 2001 and offers key core and elective courses. - Department of Mathematics: The department has a well-established research center that VTU has acknowledged, and this research center has awarded Doctoral degrees to 46 individuals so far. The department has published 353 articles in major international refereed journals, including Scopus and Web of Science indexed journals. VGST, Govt. of Karnataka, awarded the department the best paper publication award twice, in 2011-12 and 2017-18.
- Department of Physics: During the college's founding in 1980, the Physics department was founded. The Physics Department focuses on the academic development and excellence of undergraduate Engineering students. Students in the first and second semesters can take engineering physics theory and practical courses at the department. For higher-semester engineering students, the department provides an open elective subject. Engineering Physics fills in the gaps between what students learned previously and new engineering disciplines from many branches. There are seven faculty members and four non-teaching staff members in the department. Faculty members are highly competent, well-trained, committed, and interested in research.
- Department of Chemistry: The department features a well-trained and experienced faculty and all of the essential infrastructure. The department's goal is to prepare students in all engineering elements, including basic and applied research. In recent years, the department's five teaching faculty members have published many worldwide research articles. The department has a VTU-accredited R&D center that conducts research in Nanotechnology, Catalysis, Environmental Studies, Organic Synthesis, Solar Cells, LEDs, and other areas.
- Department of Humanities and Social Science: The Department of Humanities prepares students for on-campus and off-campus interviews by teaching them English communication skills and soft skills. In addition, students are taught basic Kannada and literature to familiarise them with the state language and improve their communication skills. Students in the third and fourth semesters are taught soft skills and employability skills to prepare them for job interviews (on-campus & off-campus). A program from Young India Films has been installed to help students improve their communication abilities. IPR is taught to students in order for them to understand the several types of intellectual property rights, such as copyright, trademarks, patents, and industrial design rights, among others.
