Government Engineering College Wayanad was established in the year 1999 and is one of the 9 Government Engineering Colleges under the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Govt of Kerala. It is a private, autonomous college which is situated in Wayanad, Kerala. The college has been affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad. It has been recognised by UGC. The college has been approved by the AICTE, New Delhi. The college has also received accreditation from NBA.
The Government Engineering College courses are offered to interested candidates at the diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. There are a total of 03 courses offered to students in the stream of engineering and technology. All of the courses at the college are available to students in a regular, offline mode. The Government Engineering College admission is offered to all of its programmes based on a candidate's performance in the relevant entrance exam and the most recent qualifying exam. The college accepts a number of entrance exams for admission, including KEAM (for BE/B.Tech courses) and GATE (for ME/M.Tech courses).

The GEC Wayanad B.Tech cutoff 2023 has been released in the KEAM phase 1 seat allotment list. The performance of the applicant in the KEAM entrance exam is taken into consideration for offering admission to various B.Tech degrees at GEC Wayanad.
