IIT Palakkad Campus Facilities: Hostel Fees, Infrastructure, Address

IIT Palakkad campus offers great infrastructure to the students taking admission into the university. The campus of IIT Palakkad has several classrooms and an auditorium which are equipped with state of the art multimedia facilities, student laboratories that are well established and functional with the latest equipment, a central library which has a well-equipped computer room where candidates can access the e-books and course materials. The library of IIT Palakkad provides information/knowledge resources through a carefully developed collection of books, journals, magazines, and newspapers. All the student laboratories of IIT Palakkad are well established and functional with the latest equipment. The campus of IIT Palakkad is fully residential with separate hostels for girls and boys. The hostel offers all the necessary facilities like a spacious dining hall, a well-equipped recreational area, a fitness centre, an indoor games area, RO based drinking water system, etc. The common space in the hostel is Wi-Fi enabled. Also, IIT Palakkad provides health care facilities for its students. Professional counselling service is there to provide professional help to students when they experience social/emotional issues.

The campus of IIT Palakkad has existing facilities for the students in sports & games. Students are encouraged to play football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and cricket. There are professional coaches who train students in table tennis and physical fitness as well as weight lifting. Students can also get training at the professional badminton centre, 4GB badminton academy, at IIT  Palakkad. Central facilities such as Central Computing Centre, Innovation Laboratory, High-Performance Computing Facility, Advanced Laboratory Instruments are also provided by IIT Palakkad. Some other facilities that IIT Palakkad campus offers to its students are ATM and Bank facility, Mini Super Market, Food point, Hospital, Bus Services, Post office, etc.

With spacious, double occupancy rooms, with attached toilets in every room, access to WiFi and recreational facilities and a separate dining block, the hostels at IIT Palakkad is on par with the best available in any other IIT. Set up in a calm and safe environment the hostels are only 500 mts from the academic building. Boys and Girls hostels, and a mess block with dining facilities for 120 students at a time forms a separate secured block in the campus. Students residing in the hostels are provided with exclusive dining facility. This covers breakfast, lunch, evening coffee/tea and dinner. The menu for these is decided by an elected student body.

Each hostel has a common room for recreation which has a television, news papers and selected magazines (decided by the student body). There are guest rooms for visitors to the Institute faculty, staff and students.

Sports Facility

The hostel have limited sports facility such as table tennis, volley ball / ball-badminton courts etc. The Institute has playfields for football, cricket, volleyball and basketball as well as a boxing area. A gymnasium with various equipment is part of the recreation facility.

Medical Facility

A full-fledged hospital run by Ahalyia group of institutions takes care of the medical needs of the students, faculty and staff. All students of Institute are registered with the hospital and are also covered by a Medical Insurance scheme. Apart from general practitioners, services of leading specialists (on part-time basis) are provided by the hospital.

Banks

Canara Bank operates a branch within the campus. ATM’s of SBI and Canara Bank are housed on campus.

Other Amenities

A few restaurants and a small provisions shop are available in the Ahalia Campus.

National Service Scheme (NSS) is part of the curriculum. NSS activity does not carry any academic credit but participation is compulsory. The students under undertook a variety of socially relevant activities. A marathon was conducted in association with the State Bank of India, and was supported by the District Sports Council on the national Independence Day. It was flagged off by the District Collector and the District police office provided the necessary traffic / security arrangement. Tha Rashtriya Ekta Saptah in connection with the birth anniversary of Late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated and a mass run with the banner of unity was organized in the Ahalia campus.

Interaction with students of nearby schools for helping them grasp fundamental principles of science, providing computer-based learning kits to the inmates of a local orphanage, blood donation camp by student volunteers, and landscape development and cleaning hostel premises, are the highlights of the other activities of NSS.
