About IIT Tirupati

The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati, established in 2015, is an institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is proclaimed as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ under the Act of Parliament of India (Institutes of Technology Act, 1961). IIT Tirupati campus has AC halls of different limits, for example, 40, 60, 90, and 120 seater study halls to lead classes. Additionally, laboratories for civil, mechanical, and electrical departments, PC labs, and library are some of the IIT Tirupati facilities. To carry on with the IIT Tirupati admission process, candidates need to meet the eligibility criteria set for the courses. The IIT Tirupati eligibility criteria for all the courses offered at IIT Tirupati are as follows.

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For B.Tech. Courses

  • Higher secondary (10+2) or diploma (10+3) qualified students with at least a 75 percent aggregate score from a recognised board.
  • Candidates must have studied physics, chemistry, and maths compulsorily 
  • Cut off rank in JEE Advanced exam.

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For M.Tech Courses

  • Applicants who have passed the GATE exam.
    • Candidates who have passed GATE 2023, 2022, or 2021 and have a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from an AICTE/Government-approved educational institution.
    • Candidates who have not yet taken or have taken the final examination for the qualifying degree and whose results are expected to be released by July 2024.
  • IIT graduates candidates with a B.Tech. degree from an IIT and a CGPA of 8.0 or higher can apply without a GATE score. 

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For Master in Public Policy Courses

  • Candidates who have received or will get a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any subject from a recognised university or institute are eligible to apply for admission to the IITT MPP programme.
  • For General/OBC/EWS category candidates, at least 55 percent aggregate marks (all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) are required.
  • For SC/ST and PwD category candidates, at least 50 percent aggregate marks (all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) are required in the qualifying degree.

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For M.S. (Research) Courses

  • Candidates having a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology or a master's degree (M.Sc./MCA, etc.) in the relevant discipline and a valid GATE score are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates with associate membership in the Institution of Engineers (India) (civil/mechanical/electrical and electronics/electronics and communications)
  • Those from the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering is also eligible for admission to the MS programme in its parent discipline. 
  • They should have a valid GATE score and have passed both parts A and B of the membership examinations with a good academic record.
  • Engineering graduates from IITs with a minimum CGPA of 8/10 are eligible for admission without a GATE score, and if accepted, they will be offered HTRA.

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For PhD Courses

PhD in Engineering 

  • Candidates with a solid academic record and a master's degree in engineering/technology or a master's degree in research in engineering/technology.
  • Candidates for the relevant engineering discipline must have a master's degree in sciences with a solid academic record and remarkable merit. They must have a valid GATE score or equivalent qualification in the relevant field from the UGC/CSIR-NET.
  • Candidates with an exceptional academic record in an appropriate discipline and a minimum CGPA of 8/10 who have qualified for the award of a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology or a master's degree in sciences through JAM from any IIT may be considered for direct admission to PhD.
  • Candidates who have completed a 5-year combined BS+MS degree from any CFTI. Candidates having a combined master's/dual degree in engineering/technology are encouraged to apply.

PhD in Science

  • A valid score in GATE or CSIR/UGC-NET(JRF/LS)/NBHM/INSPIRE/JEST or comparable qualification tenable for the current year in the relevant area, as well as a master's degree in sciences with a solid academic record.
  • Engineering/Technology master's degree holders and master of science(Research) master's degree holders are also eligible.
  • Candidates who have earned a bachelor's degree in engineering/technology or a master's degree in sciences through JAM from any IIT and have an outstanding academic record will be considered for direct admission to PhD if they have a CGPA of 8/10.
  • Candidates who have completed a 5-year combined BS+MS degree from any CFTI. Candidates having a combined master's/dual degree in engineering/technology from any university/institute are eligible.

PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences

  • A valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR-NET or comparable qualification tenable for the current year in the appropriate area
  • A master's degree in an eligible discipline with a strong academic record or equivalent.

IIT Tirupati Eligibility Criteria For M.Sc Courses

  • A bachelor's degree from a recognised institution or institute in the relevant discipline.
  • A passing grade on the JAM entrance exam.
  • Candidates are chosen through the JOAPS counselling procedure, which consists of four rounds of admission. Seats are assigned based on the results of the JAM entrance exam, choice filling, seat availability, category, and other variables.

 IIT Tirupati M.Sc. Admission Process

  • Students have to log on to the official JOAPS website 
  • Register by providing all essential information, such as the candidate's name, email address, phone number, qualification, and so on.
  • Candidates will receive an enrollment ID after completing the registration process. Use the enrollment ID and password to log in to the JOAPS site.
  • Fill out the IIT Tirupati application form, specifying the number of papers and preferred city.
  • Scanned photos of your photo and signature, as well as your SC/ST/PwD certificate, should be uploaded (if applicable).
  • Submit the IIT JAM application form after paying the online application fee.


 IIT Tirupati PhD Admission Process

  • Visit theIIT Tirupati website and fill out an online application form.
  • Fill out the application form with all of the necessary information.
  • Make a copy of the printout and save it for your records.
  • The application cost is Rs 100 for general and male candidates, Rs 50 for female candidates, and Rs 50 for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates.

  • You can register for JoSAA counselling online once you have cleared JEE Main or JEE Advanced.

  • To offer pupils an understanding of what universities are like, JoSAA runs a fake seat allotment process.

It's a fast developing 3rd generation iit. The many of the faculty are more experienced and they already have experience in working in first and second generation iits. Many of them are very friendly in nature. But the campus is still under construction. There are less space for sports now

IIT Tirupati Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

With a magnificent mountain backdrop, the IIT Tirupati permanent campus is located on the Yerpedu–Venkatagiri highway in Merlapaka Village, 25 kilometres from Tirupati town, 14 kilometres from Renigunta Junction Railway Station, and 12 kilometres from Tirupati International Airport. By road, train, and air, IIT Tirupati campus is well connected to the rest of the country.

On the Tirupati-Renigunta Road, the temporary campus of IIT Tirupatiis housed in the Krishna Theja Educational Institutions. It is 5 kilometres from Tirupati town, 4 kilometres from Renigunta Junction, and 8 kilometres from Tirupati International Airport.

IIT Tirupati Infrastructure


IITT Infrastructure was built from the ground up in a relatively short amount of time. For the purposes of teaching undergraduate courses, the infrastructure at IIT Tirupati is comparable to those of previous IITs. The temporary campus building was considerably altered to satisfy IIT Tirupati's requirements. Several new installations were made to give the best possible learning environment for the pupils.

  • Classrooms
    • The appropriate furniture was installed in eight 60-seat classes and one 120-seat classroom. 
    • Each classroom has a desktop computer with an internet connection, as well as projectors, screens, and audio systems. 
    • Appropriate treatment has been done to improve acoustics. A virtual classroom with 120 seats was put up. 
    • The NKN was connected through video conferencing with a 1 Gbps bandwidth connection. At IIT Tirupati, there is a 120-seat NKN classroom.
  • Central Library
    • RFID technology has been implemented in the library to improve circulation services and allow users to issue, return, renew, and check their library accounts on their own. 
    • It has also aided in the security of the library's assets, which has been bolstered by the installation of CCTV within the building.
    • This library has a library automation system that uses KOHA open source integrated library software with an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), which has allowed the library to computerize its operations. 
    • KOHA is used by the library for library management and day-to-day activities. Users can utilise the OPAC to look for books and check their transaction history.
  • Computer Centre
    • List of commercial software for academic and research purposes in IIT Tirupati are AutoCAD, CREO, MATLAB, ABAQUS, VIVADO, COMSOL, ORCAD, Ground Water Modelling System[GMS], Intel Fortran Compiler
    • Wi-Fi connectivity and dedicated high-speed leased internet.
    • NKN provided a 1Gbps line.
    • Wi-Fi was provided using point-to-point RF transceivers with a speed of more than 100 Mbps from the academic building to the guest house, and boys and girls hostels.
    • IITT academic campus is fully networked.
  • Chemistry lab
    • In January 2016, the undergraduate chemistry laboratory was established. It is highly ventilated and equipped with fresh, cutting-edge technology. 
    • The chemical lab conducts a total of ten experiments that address societal challenges. These experiments were created to keep undergraduate engineering students engaged during practical sessions.
    • Equipped with laboratory fume hoods, conductivity meter, pH meter, magnetic stirrer, preparative weighing balance, analytical weighing balance, digital colourimeter, vacuum pump, rotary evaporator, and chiller for circulation of cold water, etc.
  • Physics lab
    • The initial focus was on setting up the facilities and developing basic physics courses for the institute's first batch of students. A total of ten tests were planned. 
    • Some of the experiments were adapted from the mentoring institute (IIT Madras), and the required equipment was obtained. 
    • The device was built in record time at IIT Madras and will be used in the new institute's inaugural semester.
    • Equipped with a compound pendulum with accessories, ultrasonic interferometer, an experimental setup for obtaining stefan’s constant, newton rings experiment, mapping of equipotential lines with electrode configuration, Simulation lab using MATLAB, etc.
  • Workshop
    • Workshop training sessions for all fields of engineering were held in the workshop facilities on the campus of Sri Venkateswara University Tirupati during the first semester. 
    • The second-semester workshop sessions were held at IIT Tirupati, where the essential equipment, like pneumatics and hydraulics training kits, a plastic injection moulding machine, and FRP fabrication facilities, were procured and installed. 
    • For workshop practice, a basic electrical and electronics lab, as well as an instrumentation and communications lab, were built up.

IIT Tirupati Facilities

  • Hostels
    • Six multistory dormitory blocks are located on the IITT campus with a capacity of 860. Every hostel has the necessary infrastructure to assure the comfort and safety of its guests. 
    • Chairs, study tables, cots, almirahs, drying stands, and other basic equipment are provided in each room. In addition, each hostel block features large common rooms with TVs, indoor board games, newspapers, and magazines for tenants' enjoyment. High-speed internet, washing machines, water coolers, rooftop solar systems for hot water, RO purified drinking water, and other essential amenities are available in all of the hostels. 
    • Professional housekeeping staff cleans the hostel rooms and bathrooms on a regular basis. Additionally, each hostel block is guarded 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to protect the safety of its residents.
    • The hostels are managed on a daily basis by a committee made up of student representatives and resident assistant wardens who operate under the direction of the council of wardens.
  • Medical facilities
    • A health centre on the transit complex is staffed by two doctors and five nurses. 
    • In case of an emergency, the hospital is fully supplied with conventional medicines (such as anti-venom pharmaceuticals and anti-rabies vaccines), as well as equipment such as defibrillators, monitors, crash carts, and a 24-hour ambulance.
  • Transport
    • The institute coordinates transportation between the campuses. Shuttle services to Yerpedu circle and Lakshmi Nagar colony are also available. In addition, transportation services for a variety of non-academic events are provided upon request. Transit from the main campus to the temporary campus and back.
    • Shuttle service from the transit campus to the Yerpedu circle is available.
    • On weekends, take the campus bus to the city.
    • Between the Lakshmi Nagar community and the temporary campus, there is a shuttle service.
    • NSS school activities include academic tours and picnic village visits.
  • The hostels offer a wide range of auxiliary services for the tenants' convenience. Each hostel has three washing machines, and students can also purchase ironing services for an additional fee. 
  • A canteen and a stationery shop are located in the basement of dormitory C. Students can get a range of snacks, food, and refreshments from the canteen (canteen timings, menu, and charges are listed below). 
  • For the convenience of hostel inhabitants, the stationery also offers photocopying and printing services. 
  • In addition, near the mess hall on the transit campus is an ATM machine operated by the State Bank of India (SBI).

IIT Tirupati Creche

  • On February 6, 2019, a creche facility at IIT Tirupatiwas opened for the children of the IIT Tirupati community. 
  • It is a shared institute facility that cares for employees/students of IIT Tirupati children aged 6 months to 10 years. Guests at IIT Tirupati may use the institute's facilities with advance notice. 
  • IITT now has one caregiver and one housekeeping employee to assist us in running the property. The creche is now equipped with a foldable mattress, brightly coloured little chairs, and a table, as well as toys, a slide, and a ball pool. 
  • A tiny kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave oven has been set up.

IIT Tirupati Scholarships

There are three main scholarships at IITT for Indian students. IIT Tirupati scholarship is based on merit and means. The basic conditions for availing the IIT Tirupati scholarship are:

  • Parents annual income should not be more than Rs 4.50 lakhs.
  • Only 25% of admitted students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity. Rs 1,000 per month plus a semester's worth of tuition fees waived. Every semester, a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester is required for scholarship renewal.

Institute Free Studentship

  • Only 10% of admitted students will be able to take advantage of this opportunity.
  • Exemption from paying the semester's tuition cost. Every semester, a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester is required for scholarship renewal.

SC/ST Institute Scholarship

  • Mess payments are refunded in the amount of Rs 8,000 hostel seat rent is waived, and a monthly pocket allowance of Rs 250 is provided. Every semester, a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester is required for scholarship renewal.

Financial assistance for students pursuing M.Tech

  • Indian nationals pursuing M.Tech programmes would get financial help in the form of a half-time teaching assistantship (HTTA) at a rate of Rs 12,400 per month (tenable for a maximum of 24 months), subject to institute guidelines. 
  • Students obtaining HTTA are obliged to assist in the department's academic activities, such as laboratory demonstrations, tutorials, assignment evaluation, test paper evaluation, seminars, research projects, and so on, for 8 hours each week.

Financial assistance for students pursuing MPP

  • Financial help in the form of a Half Time Teaching Assistantship (HTTA) at the rate of Rs 12,400 p.m. (tenable for a maximum duration of 24 months) would be provided to Indian nationals pursuing MPP programmes with a valid GATE score under Track I, according to institute guidelines. 
  • HTTA students are required to assist the department for 8 hours per week in academic activities such as laboratory demonstrations, tutorials, assignment evaluation, test paper evaluation, seminars, research projects, and so on.

Financial assistance for students pursuing MS (Research) and PhD

  • Assistance will be provided in accordance with Ministry of Education (MoE) guidelines. Full-time scholars accepted into PhD and MS programmes (Research). Half-time Teaching/Research Assistantships (HTRA) are available for programmes.
  • To receive this assistantship, they must labour for the institute for 8 hours per week. The institute will assign the task, which will typically involve assisting with teaching or research.
  • Every semester, the assistantship will be renewed based on enrolment, sufficient progress in research, and good performance as a teaching/research assistant during the previous semester.
  • Other scholarships, such as UGC-JRF, CSIR-JRF, ICMR & AICTE, may be offered for individuals who qualify for these programmes and are accepted, and the amount will be determined by the funding agency's guidelines.

Scholarships for International Students

  • Afghan Scholarship Scheme- Afghan nationals can apply for a special scholarship to study at the university level in India.
  • Africa Scholarship Scheme- African students enrolled in undergraduate, postgraduate, and graduate programmes.
  • Maulana Azad Scholarship Scheme- Students from Sri Lanka studying at the post-graduate level in the subjects of agriculture, science, and engineering for human resource development.
  • Research Training Fellowship for developing country scientists- Young researchers having a master's degree in a related discipline is encouraged to apply. Scholarship applied to study in developing countries except for India. 
  • ITEC Scholarship- Over the course of several years, Russian nationals have attended numerous courses in India as part of the ITEC programme.
  • Scholarship scheme for Sri Lanka and Mauritius- Students from Sri Lanka and Mauritius will be studying for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as conducting research for a PhD.
  • Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF)- Through substantive contact among government, academia, and industry, promotes and catalyses Indo-US bilateral collaborations in science, technology, engineering, and biomedical research.
  • Technical Cooperation Scheme of the Colombo Plan- Undergraduate, post-graduate, and PhD research are all available. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Iran, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Nepal, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, South Korea, and Thailand students are participating.
  • ICCR General Scholarship- Given to foreign students from Asian and Latin American countries at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as for pursuing research.
  • Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme- Students from Commonwealth countries who come to India to study in Indian universities at the undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and research levels.
  • Aid-to-Mongolia Scholarship Scheme- Mongolian students will be able to study in India for bachelor's, master's, doctoral, and post-doctoral degrees in subjects such as general language, science, and humanities, engineering, architecture, fine arts, performing arts (dance, music), and advanced Tibetan Buddhist studies for the academic year 2020-21.
  • Mekong Ganga Co-operation Scholarship Scheme- ICCR offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral scholarships to students from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam at Indian universities.
  • India Scholarship (Bangladesh) Scheme- Bangladeshi students will be able to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees, as well as engineering courses, on behalf of MEA.

Events & Clubs at IIT Tirupati

Actomania

  • Founded with the goal of discovering students' acting abilities and performing skits, drama, and short films. Many students recommended the name Actomania for this club.
  • The first short film, "Nithya–a sad love story," was finished in a week with the help of the entire cast and the photography club (Ideal Shots), and was awarded first place at the IIIT-Sricity Short Film Contest.

Artista

  • The art club caters to those with artistic abilities in painting, sketching, and crafts. 
  • Students who are always willing to jump at the chance to produce something beautiful are encouraged to join this club at IITT.

Chaturanga

  • The club was founded on January 27, 2017. Within the first three months of its existence, it has arranged two tournaments. 
  • One event was held solely for the benefit of juniors, and no prizes were awarded. The INTRA IIT chess tournament is a competition among the four houses of IIT Tirupati clubs. 
  • It's a free-for-all tournament in which anyone can compete. It had a positive response, and no issues were reported. This semester's club progress has been rather easy and positive.

PFC

  • IIT Tirupati Photography & Films Group, formerly known as Ideal Shots, is a media club for students. It now has an enrollment of 80 students and is available to all college students.
  • PFC has not only documented all of our lovely moments but has also attempted to pique amateur photographers' interest by hosting competitions and courses.


Other clubs at IITT include Aranya, Literary, Sahayog, Sargam, and XCITE. 

Public Policy Special Lecture

  • Public Policy Special Lecture Series scheduled on 8th April. 
  • Department of Humanities and Social Sciences have organised a Public Policy Special Lecture Series by Prof. Peter P Mollinga. 
  • He is a professor of Development Studies at the School of Oriental & African Studies
  • University of London, UK. The lecture series was on water and development: understanding the plurality of productive, consumptive, and symbolic uses and meanings of water

International Conference

  • IITT has hosted an international conference on “Tackling Climate Change through Urban Resilience: Role of Institutions and Public Policies in Canada and India” from 24th to 25th March 2022.

About IIT Tirupati

IIT Tirupati has started the admission process for engineering courses. Admission in B.Tech courses at IIT Tirupati is done based on JEE Advanced and candidates need to clear JEE Main prior to that. JEE Main Session 1 exams are over and the results will be released by NTA on February 12, 2024. JEE Main 2024 Session 2 registration is ongoing. The last date to register is March 2, 2024. Registration for JEE Advanced 2024 will begin on April 21, 2024 and end on April 30, 2024.

IIT Tirupati established in 2015, is an institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is proclaimed as an ‘Institute of National Importance’ under the Act of Parliament of India (Institutes of Technology Act, 1961).

IIT Tirupati campus has AC halls of different limits, for example, 40, 60, 90, and 120 seater study halls to lead classes. Additionally, laboratories for civil, mechanical, and electrical departments, PC labs, and library are some of the IIT Tirupati facilities. IIT Tirupati also has indoor and outside sports facilities like badminton, table tennis, gym, volleyball, basketball, and football. Supporting offices like normal feasting, clothing, and writing material shops are also accessible.

Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati has a huge base of experienced and knowledgeable faculties. Apart from a large number of experienced internal faculties, they also call a good number of guest faculties from industries and other world-class institutes to incorporate various techniques of learning.
