Krishnagar Govt College Campus Facilities - Hostel Fees, Infrastructure, Address

Despite being a 168 year old college, Krishnagar Government College believes in the successful combination of the traditional and the modern. In course of time, the college has augmented its infrastructure and has embraced with open hands the modern technologies for upgradation of the learning resources.

The following are the major highlights in this criterion related to Infrastructure and Learning Resources:-

• The college built in a sprawling campus of 36.06 acres houses the 158 year Main Building and six other annexes (Philosophy, Bengali, Geography, Physics, Chemistry and Bio-Science) for holding classes of different academic departments.
• Several annex buildings are allotted for Principal?s quarter, two Boys? hostels, one under construction Girls? Hostel, staff quarters, students? canteen, separate common rooms for boys and girls, gymnasium, cheap canteen for students and teachers etc.
• The college is well equipped with several laboratories with modern state of the art equipments in the science departments, computer and internet facility. Some of the classrooms have been upgraded into smart classrooms.
• Infrastructural spaces or other arrangements are allotted to different cells like IQAC, Grievance Redressal Unit, Health Care Centre etc.
• The college library is rich in books. It houses many rare and out-ofprint books. Making use of the LIBSYS software data entry of 11,112 library books has been completed. Two fumigation chambers have been installed and INFLIBNET facility has just been introduced.
• Besides the Central Library, there are seminar library facilities for each academic department.
• The college gives increasing importance to ICT tools. There are now two Computer Network Centres in the college. There are 21 laptops and 75 desktop computers in the college and the number is ever increasing. These computers are constantly upgraded with latest versions. 15 Computers are equipped with internet connectivity.
• Introduction of CCTV surveillance in the college campus.
• Being a government college, the college in itself cannot provide any fund for construction and maintenance of buildings. The college, however, keeps constant interaction with the Higher Education Department, West Bengal and the PWD (Nadia Construction Division), PWD (Construction Board) and PWD (Electrical) to ensure construction and maintenance of building infrastructure and electrical connection.

There is a provision for accommodating outstation students’ in the students’hostel.Several annex buildings are allotted for Principal?s quarter, two Boys? hostels, one under construction Girls? Hostel, staff quarters, students? canteen, separate common rooms for boys and girls, gymnasium, cheap canteen for students and teachers etc.The students from distant areas are provided with hostel facility.Hostel facilities exist for the students and are also being enhanced for female students. Such an infrastructure can be better harnessed for disseminating higher education to the surrounding hinterland.And in 2013 a Seminar Library has also been started in the student Hostel with a small number of text and reference books.A Boys’ Gymnasium also exists beside the Boys’ Hostel.

The NSS WINTER SPECIAL CAMP, 2014 was organized by NSS UNIT-I and UNIT-II of Krishnagar Govt. College at Shambhunagar village in the Ruipukur Gram Panchayat and Shimultala village in the Depara Gram Panchayat, respectively, located in Krishnagar-I. The units jointly executed the programme and activities run in parallel in both the villages performed by the volunteers of the two units.
