Library

The Library is a great work place for both the staff and students functioning effectively, it promotes productive learning and satisfaction. Our Polytechnic Library is a learning resource centre with a large number of text books and reference books in different Disciplines. Magazines and Journals are also subscribed. The library plays an important role in moulding the students into successful technocrats.

The National Service Scheme, a permanent student-youth programme implemented in educational institutions is sponsored by both Central and State Governments. The Motto of NSS is Not Me, But You. The over all objective is Development of Personality of Student-Youth through Community Service. A wide range of activities under this programme aim at inculcating positive values, enhancing leadership qualities and promoting national integration, social harmony, healthy life styles, etc. These activities are carried out under two major areas namely, Regular and Special Camping Programmes.

The Directorate has instituted 42 NSS Awards to recognize the outstanding contribution of Polytechnic Colleges (NSS Units), Programme Officers and Volunteers during the DOTE NSS Silver Jubilee Year. The Directorate received the prestigious Indira Gandhi National NSS Award during 2005-06.

We are running 2 NSS Units with 200 Efficient volunteers. Weekly once campus cleaning, Monthly once one day camp at near by villages and yearly once special camp are organized regularly. Apart from these, we are conducting Blood donation camp, AIDS awareness programmes by Red Ribbon club, personality Development Programmes and yoga meditations etc. We received Best NSS unit award for 2 times and Best NSS Volunteers awards for 2 times state level from Directorate of Technical Education with in a decade.

National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.)

The 7(TN) BN NCC E1 - Company, is functioning in our college with a sanctioned strength of 52 cadets and 1 officer. Established in the year 2005 this unit has achieved several landmarks and has added several feathers to the crown of LATHA MATHAVAN POLYTECHNIC COLEGE. Till yet 464 NCC cadets completed the B & C certificate Exams.

NCC Motto

The motto of NCC is 'Unity & Discipline' which was adopted on 23 Dec 1957. In living up to its motto, the NCC strives to be and is one of the greatest cohesive forces of the nation, bringing together the youth hailing from different parts of the country and moulding them into united, secular and disciplined citizens of the nation.

Sports

Introduction

The college maintains a full-fledged sports activity center which provides the necessary facilities for conducting sports and games through the department of physical education. The college provides opportunities for students to participate in sports and games so as to make their stay in the college campus useful, purposeful and enjoyable. Facilities for games such as 400mts standard track and field, Football, Volley ball , Basket ball, Hockey, Ball Badminton, badminton, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Handball, Cricket nets, Table Tennis, Carrom, Chess etc., are provided .

Aim and Objectives
