Netaji Mahavidyalaya was established on August 1, 1948, in Hoogly, West Bengal. The institute is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B++’ grade and is approved by University Grants Commission (UGC). Netaji Mahavidyalaya is a government-aided college affiliated with the University of Burdwan.
Netaji Mahavidyalaya offers 21 undergraduate honours and three general programmes under the science, arts and commerce faculty. Along with this the institute also offers one postgraduate course which is a Master of Arts in Bengali. Besides, the college offers the facility of studying some rare courses like plant protection, electronic science, physical education and six monthly certificate course in yoga. Moreover, there are two distance education centres, IGNOU and NSOU.
Netaji Mahavidyalaya Admissions 2023 will begin soon. Netaji Mahavidyalaya entrance exam is not conducted for admission. Students only need to maintain the eligibility criteria. Though Netaji Mahavidyalaya cut off list (merit list) is prepared for the eligible candidates for admission to NM Hoogly.
Netaji Mahavidyalaya placement cell arranged for a career counselling-cum-guidance programme benefitting 50 students on average. It trains students for campus interviews and tests. Netaji Mahavidyalaya placement cell also arranged a TCS training camp (100 hours) for recruitment in TCS and placed 9 students successfully. Netaji Mahavidyalaya career counselling cell operates a coaching centre for ‘entry in services’ and a remedial coaching centre for SC, ST, minority & OBC students.
Netaji Mahavidyalaya’s present roll strength is nearly 5747 which has increased over the years. Netaji Mahavidyalaya campus infrastructure and facility comprise a rich and well-furnished library along with separate study rooms and xerox facilities for students and teachers, well-equipped science and computer labs, a counselling cell, an anti-ragging cell, a grievance redressal cell, a women’s cell, sports ground and multi gymnasium, separate hostels for boys and girls and a standard canteen for the students, a huge and well-decorated auditorium, and a printing press of its own.
Walk-in Inquiries
Students or candidates who want to be admitted to any department can walk into the admission cell situated on the campus and take the application form. The form can be submitted to the admission office and a nominal application fee of Rs 1,000 is to be paid while submitting the form which can be paid by credit/debit card, net banking, or through UPI as well as if the candidate is shortlisted, they will be reached out via phone or email by the admission team. The candidate will be given an acknowledgement receipt upon successful acceptance of the application form.
Online Application
Since the onset of the corona pandemic, most of the admission process is now online, and candidates can submit their application via the official link and pay the application fee of Rs 1,000 via net banking, through credit/debit cards, or even through UPI system as well. The list of needed documents should also be uploaded on the same site by the candidate. Once the application is sent the candidate would receive an acknowledgement through email and via SMS as well.
The interested candidates have to apply online for admission to the various programmes through their official website. The applicants must select the concerned course while filling out the application form and payment of the application fee can be made in both online and offline modes.

The Netaji Mahavidyalaya Placement Cell places emphasis on strengthening Industry-Institute collaboration. Their goal is to participate in the development of students by building strong skills and competencies and maintaining relationships with key employees. As far as information is available, as many as 87 students appeared in the campus interview programme organised by TATA Consultancy Service (TCS) during the 2013-2014 session in collaboration with the University of Burdwan. Out of the 47 candidates who qualified for the written test and 09 were finally selected. 67 students appeared in the interview of Cognizant Technology Solution.
The placement cell adheres to the transparency policy and extends the invitation to companies interested in hiring their students. Companies then submit their letter of recommendation/answer sheet and the date of the campus visit is set taking into account the interests of all parties involved.

The Curriculum at Netaji Mahavidyalaya Hooghly is up to date with the latest technology. The students are also given practical work so that they are industry-ready apart from just theoretical knowledge.
NCC and NSS
The students can also enrol themselves in the NCC and /or NSS units of this college. There is one NCC company and as many as four units of the NSS in the college. The NCC imparts military discipline among the interested students where the NSS units are constantly in the service of the college as well as the local surroundings.
GAMES & SPORTS
The Annual sports meet is held during winter every session. Most of the facilities for the Indoor Games are available in the students’ common room. Coaching camps are regularly held for Football, Cricket, and Athletics.
GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL CELL
Discussing the grievances/complaints lodged by the teachers/non-teaching staff & students, if the Grievance Redressal finds the nature and extent of the complaint is of grave importance, then, the Principal as Chairperson of the Cell tries to redress it at the earliest convenience in consultation with the GRC members. By redressing the grievances lodged by the different wings of the college, an endeavour is made to promote better stakeholder relationships.
Women's Cell
The Governing Body of the college formed the ‘Women’s Cell’ as per NAAC peer team recommendation (2007). It has started functioning smoothly by a group of responsible female teachers of the college. They have either been arranging personal counselling for the female students or organising seminar talks by distinguished external speakers on issues related to women’s security and rights.
