Founded in 1962, Punjabi University includes fifty-five teaching and research departments under its jurisdiction, with subjects provided including Arts, Humanities, and Sciences. The University features 20 regional centres and affiliated institutions on its 316-acre campus. Nowadays, Punjabi University provides Bachelor's, Master's, Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Advance Post Graduate Diploma, Certificate, and Doctoral degree programmes.
