Students Activities & Clubs

Dance Club -

SCET Dance Club (SDC) evolved from an idea that spurred out of a bunch of dance passionate students who envisioned SCET to be a pioneer even in the field of dance and provide a platform to all those students who wanted to learn new dance forms and represent SCET.

SCET is full of wonderful dancers whether it may be classical or western or any other particular dance forms and their marvellous acts have been witnessed during cultural festivals. Main objective of forming Dance club is to provide a common platform to all the dance enthusiasts of our college to excel in particular dance forms and outperform in order to bring laurels to SCET.

Objectives:

Conducting sessions on different dance styles

Arranging workshops

The club will reach the students by online and offline promotions, flashmobs and periodic events.

The most active and competent dancers will be selected for the main troupe which will perform at inter-college competitions (like the GTU Youth-Festival).

SDC was officially launched under Student Activity & Welfare Council (SAWC) in June 2015. Club is managed by students and they are guided by the faculty coordinators (Dr. Rakhi Mehta, convener and Prof. Niki Patel, Co-convener)

Club enthusiastically works towards improving the dancing skills of students and provide a vibrant platform to showcase their talent. Couple of events have been organized under SDC such as Launch of L & D events with a flashmob, selection of dance team for Youth festival etc.

Music Club -

Music Club has been formed in February 2015 under Student Activity & Welfare Committee (SAWC).

Music is a universal language. Music tranqulizes the mind and energise the spirit. SCET Music Club has been formed with an aim to promote and channelize music talent among students. With this activity, interested students can improve and excel in music and can bring laurels to college by participating in various events of university as well as other competitions.

The music club has been formed with the support of following faculty members.

Prof. Sudhir Yardi, Covener

Prof. Ratna Jadvani, Co-convener

Prof. Prathamesh Vyas, Co-convener

Objectives:

  • To bring out the talent of students in Co-curricular activities, particularly music.

  • To prepare items for representing college at various competitions including GTU youth festival.

  • To provide healthy environment in campus for co-curricular activity.

Yoga Club -

Yoga is a life style..

Yoga is the union of body, mind and soul..

Yoga club@SCET spreads awareness about yoga among students as well as staff members since yoga is all in one technique. The club conducts various yoga activities for students and staff members to develop their body and mind on conscious and sub-conscious levels. We actively work on yoga principles and try to find a ray of wisdom which brings-in real happiness and inner peace in our hearts.

Vision:

To provide yoga education to equip oneself with basic knowledge about one’s personality, to learn to handle oneself well in all life situations, to learn techniques of gaining good health, to develop a discriminative mind capable of knowing the real from the unreal and to face the dualities of life with equanimity.

Why Yoga for Engineering Students?

Yoga has become a creative part of the student’s educational programme; they are experiencing the meaning of discipline in a very spontaneous way in the first year of their engineering life. Yoga education supplements school and university education.

Apart from Yoga’s normal benefits, namely better breathing, gentle stretching, concentration & awareness, relaxation, calmness and appreciation of silence, Yoga balances both hemispheres of the brain and develops the whole mind.

Yoga reduces stress, helps children to release tension and relax generates positive emotions and compassion.

Its daily practices help the students to harness mental energy and effort, to deal with impulsive behaviour, and to think more clearly.

Students will develop a sense of well-being, and will increase their capacity of mental concentration will find harmony between the mind and the body.

Students will develop proper breathing habits. Yoga offers students a safe and balanced way for them to relate to themselves and to their surroundings, inner & outer awareness.

Why Yoga for Staff Members?

Staff members will have following benefits:

  • Employees will be happy and full of energy and as a result, more productive

  • Decline in stress-related sick occurrences

  • Improved concentration, decision-making skills and ability to multi-task

  • Improved alertness and ability to react more calmly in demanding situations

  • Relief of head, neck and back strain, carpal tunnel syndrome, insomnia, high blood pressure and work-related injuries from repetitive motion

  • Enhanced employee attitude and outlook

  • General well-being in the workplace which reduces staff turnover

Activities conducted by Yoga Club :

  • Yogasana and Pranayama for staff and students

  • Seminar and workshop on ‘Memory Management by Yoga’

  • Seminar and workshop on ‘Stress Management by Yoga’

  • Workshop on ‘Yoga for Weight Loss ‘

  • Seminar on ‘Yoga for Team Work and Social Life’

Photography Club -

The practice of taking pictures with a camera phone is so much more widespread than any other form of image-making in the history of mankind. We all know that digital photography dominates the 21st century. More than 99% of photographs taken around the world are through digital cameras, increasingly through smartphones. Who is a photographer and who is the audience for photographic images today? How has the Internet changed conditions for taking, viewing, and sharing images? Photography fecilitates one to develope different methodologies for presenting one’s “curated” collections including book, tumblr, installation, YouTube, or blog formats.

Photography as an everchanging set of technical, conceptual and aesthetic conditions that exist within a broad social and cultural context. Students delve into making, presentation and interpretation of photographic images, exploring photography as both a language and a craft. Ultimately, they learn how to use symbols and metaphors in the content and structure of image making. SCET PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB wants to explore, expertise and exhibit such talent within Engineering students. This has various academic, social and cultural Implications too. This club assemble the Photography enthusiasts to assign various jobs to nurture the like-minded community who master this art along with their engineering study. Some Photography exhibitions are carried out more shall be practiced.

Infrastructure: All facilities are available in my college. The class teachers also teach very well to students and they give lots of opportunities to the students for seminars and classes.

Hostel: The hostels are the sole reason for me giving only 2 stars because 6 students have to share a single room with bunker beds and a western toilet for 6 people.
