Students at SJMIT enjoy appropriate modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, smart boards and well equipped laboratories. This allows us to help you become an independent, lifelong learner as well as allowing for a variety of teaching and learning methodologies in the classroom and off-campus.

There are two boys hostel blocks to accommodate about 600 boy’s students Boys hostel is located at a distance of 0.25km only. Clean, hygienic, delicious pure vegetarian food is served in the hostels. The mess bills are quite affordable and dividing system is adopted. All the disciplinary measures and arrangements for an undisturbed study are made to carry out their studies in a friendly and secured environment.

• To help students to change their mindset and attitudes towards life in terms of Women
• To encourage greater participation and to develop responsible and value oriented leadership in Female students.
• To create awareness, instill values and develop the personality and leadership quality in the members.
• To create awareness about the social problems faced by women and to work for the uplift of women.

The well being of the nation and its growth is usually measured with the yard stick of its water resources, quality of land, creation of wealth, minerals, roads, bridges, buildings, industries etc. Science and Technology plays an important role. But more important and crucial dimension of the well being of nation lies in the characters of its citizens.

Nation building through NCC :

All the characteristics which are required in a youth which can help towards nation building can be achieved through NCC training as follows.

• Discipline: A discipline is the main asset for nation building and is inculcated when a youth possess certain values for life: Love to country, Unity, Punctuality, Respect for human values and Patriotism.
• Integrity: A youth who has harmony in his thought, speech and action can only be called truly an integrated.
• Enthusiasm And Initiative: Truly spirited and alert youth can strive for improving his skills and knowledge with creativity.

Aim of NCC :

• To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service amongst the youth of the country.
• To create human resources of organized, trained and motivated youth having leadership qualities in all walks of life, and always ready to be available for the service of the nation.

To provide suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up career in armed forces.

Role of NCC :

The NCC through its regular training, not only develops the punctuality but also consciousness of discipline which consists of truth and zeal. It trains the cadets thoroughly for every event, however small it is.

Rigorous practices and excellent preparations, filtered through a foresight are given so that one can boldly face any unexpected calamities. NCC also becomes a good guide to improve academically with greater innovative ideas, hard work, dedication, robustness etc. NCC promotes a unique scholastic education and extracurricular activities for all round personality development of youth.

 National Service Scheme (NSS) is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports which encourages school and college students to interact and know the community around them and understand their problems and give an effort towards the solution.

NSS unit was established in SJMIT during the year 2000-2001. Several programmes have been conducted during these 14 years such as,

• Planting of saplings programme conducted in our college campus.

• Organizing blood donation camps.

• Identifying and labeling of Medicinal plants in our college campus.

• Creating awareness on plastic pollution, Ill effects of smoking and consuming alcohol among villagers.

• Swami Vivekananda 150^th birth centenary celeberation.

• Animal welfare and awareness programmes.

• Election awareness programmes in coordination with District Sweep committee, Chitradurga.
