Students Activities & Clubs
Innovation Club - Activity Conducted by Club:
1.Roof Gardening.
Planted 400 numbers of different vegetables and spinach varieties. Such as Agathi keerai, Arai keerai, Raddish leaves, Tomato, Cauli flower, cabbage, brinjal, greenchilli, ladies finger, pumpkin.
What is Roof Gardening?
A roof garden is a garden on the roof of a building. Besides the decorative benefit, roof plantings may provide food, temperature control, hydrological benefits, architectural enhancement, habitats or corridors for wildlife, recreational opportunities, and in large scale it may even have ecological benefits. The practice of cultivating food on the rooftop of buildings is sometimes referred to as rooftop farming. Rooftop farming is usually done using green roof, hydroponics, aeroponics or air-dynaponics systems or container gardens.
Roof gardens are most often found in urban environments. Plants have the ability to reduce the overall heat absorption of the building which then reduces energy consumption. Plant surfaces however, as a result of transpiration, do not rise more than 4–5 °C above the ambient and are sometimes cooler.” This then translates into a cooling of the environment between 3.6 and 11.3 degrees Celsius (6.5 and 20.3 °F), depending on the area on earth (in hotter areas, the environmental temperature will cool more).
Activity to be conducted:
Planting trees in waste lands
Grey water treatment plant
Solid waste management
Computer Science Club - The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SriGuru Institute of Technology, Coimbatore inaugurated “RASPBERRY PI CLUB” on 17th March 2015. Dr.Babu Devasenapati, Principal/SGIT inaugurated the club and said that this club will stretch its wing and go for experiment in the new paths where no one has ever travelled. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into the TV and a keyboard. It is a capable little computer which can be used in electronics projects, and for many things that a desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition videos. Its features include ultra low-cost and low-power, fanless, instant start-up and complete easy-to-program computer. The Raspberry Pi has created a passion among students to do their projects. Ongoing projects in this club are Robot using Raspberry Pi, Dr.Pi, E-Waiter, Google Voice as a Landline and Accident Detectors using Raspberry Pi.
Raspberry Pi Club from Department of computer Science and Engineering launched Pi-PC on 18 September 2015. Pi-PC is a desktop powered by the on-board computer called Raspberry Pi. It includes keyboard, mouse and a HDMI Compatible monitor. It costs around 9800 INR only.
Raspberry Pi Club takes pride for being awarded the National level second prize for their project “Voice Recognition for Home Automation” in OpenAUTOMATION challenge ’15 organized by Kalycito Infotech Private Limited, Coimbatore in May 2015
Automotive Club - Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering inaugurated Automation Club on 27.03.2015. Dr.S.Babu Devasanapati, Principal, inaugurated the club. This club will motivate the students to make innovation in the Area of Automation.
Electronics Club - The ARDUINO ROBO club of SGIT is a student-run club on campus with an active participation of more than 30 students. Our club was initiated in the year 2015 under the guidance of Mr.K.Saravanan (Department of Electronics and communication Engineering). Ms. Rohini.S.Swaminathan, renowned NASA Scientist, inaugurated the Club.
To stimulate interest in robotics among the students. Besides making a serious endeavour to spread knowledge on Robotics and its diverse applications, it also stands by the subtle acronym of TEAM – ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’. It is an exemplary virtue that has bound the club and helped it to grow to its present potential. The club today is an active platform for students to display and develop their practical machine building skills and knowledge. This Club will Stretch its wings and go for experimenting new paths where no one has ever travelled.
Electronics Club - The Prime Objective of the Club is to make the students familiar with the emerging concepts of nano science and technology for engineering applications. As nanotechnology is highly interdisciplinary, it provides a wide scope for research in all branches of science and engineering. All the UG and PG students are encouraged to participate in the ongoing innovative projects specially designed for them by the department of Physics& Chemistry.
Being a member of Nano Club, a student is expected to acquire hands on experience of development/synthesis of several nanomaterials for device applications with different morphologies such as nanoparticles, nanowires, porous nanostructures etc. Also the student members will be exposed to characterize the nanomaterial by using different spectroscopic and microscopic techniques such as XRD, UV-Visible –NIR, FTIR, SEM, and TG-DTA.
Nano Club will create awareness about the several applications of nano structured materials in the recent trends of research areas such as nano structured materials for energy devices, electronic and optoelectronic devices, and medicine i.e., Nano particle drug delivery systems. Student members are encouraged to participate or present their research papers in conferences, Seminars and symposia’s. They will get an opportunity to work with renowned scientists and Govt. R&D research teams that are working on emerging fields of nano science and technology.
Innovation Club - Aim of Schroedinger club is to develop potential students to its fullest extent so that intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted leaders can emerge in a range of professions.
Our vision is to be the most dynamic and stimulating environment in which to engage the students in research and innovation.
To use the knowledge of Physics for Industrial development through the students creativity.
To develop entrepreneurship qualities of the students through this club activities.
To have a reputation for our successful research and creative activities.
To have a reputation for the success of our students by doing innovations in this club.
