BA in Tamil syllabus & subjects 2025 are intended for students who want to learn about the Tamil language and literature. BA Tamil is a three-year undergraduate degree programme. Admission to this full-time undergraduate programme is based on the results of the entrance exam or the most recent qualifying exam. The core BA Tamil subjects are Modern Literature, English, Journalism, Environmental Education, and Tamil. BA in Tamil syllabus also includes topics such as the language's History, Theatre, Sonnets, Songs, and other topics. 

Knowing another language can be beneficial not only in one's personal life, but also in one's professional life. Several BPOs, call centres, translation companies, and embassies require regional language fluency. For admission into the course of BA Tamil, colleges conduct entrance exams. Both state and national level exams are conducted by the colleges for this course. 

Some of the BA Tamil entrance exams are : 

• BHU UET (CUET) - The Banaras Hindu University Undergraduate Entrance Test is conducted for students to get admission into the various undergraduate courses of the Banaras Hindu University. For BHU, the CUET entrance exam is considered. 
• TANCET - The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is conducted by Anna University for admission into the various courses offered by over 200 colleges in Tamil Nadu. It is a state-level entrance exam. 

Entrance Exam Question Paper Format 

The candidate should be aware of the format of the question paper and should be well prepared before the entrance exam. 

Given below is the format of the question paper:  

• The entrance exam is offline (pen and paper based test) 
• The medium of the entrance exam is in English. 
• The entrance exam has 150 questions in total. 
• The duration of the exam is 2 hours. 
• All questions are multiple choice questions. 
• The total marks of the examination is 450. 
• Each correct answer receives +3 marks, there is no negative marking in this entrance examination.
