Top Mechanical Engineering Colleges in India 2025

Engineering is a vast subject that covers different variants and disciplines. Mechanical engineering is one such discipline that deals with the mechanism of machines. Designing, development and maintenance of machines on a large-scale are taught under this course. Mechanical engineering is one of the most desirable course that aspirants of engineering asks for. Candidates planning for mechanical engineering colleges in India should be aware of the eligibility criteria required for applying in these colleges. One of the most important criterion is to have a passing certificate of 12th boards or equivalent from a recognised school and board. Students should have scored at least 55% in their 12th boards with PCM as main subjects. Scorecard of engineering entrance exam is also asked at the time of admission in mechanical engineering colleges in India. B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering offered by mechanical engineering colleges in India is basically a four-year degree course but the duration of the course may differ if the candidate opts for Diploma Degree. Apart from IITs, there are few mechanical engineering colleges in India that can definitely hit the choice list of the aspirants. These include Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani), Vellore Institute of Technology, SRM University (Chennai), Lovely Professional University (Phagwara) and Manipal Institute of Technology.
