About BITSAT Exam Pattern 2025

BITSAT Exam Pattern 2025 will be released online at bitsadmission.com along with the information brochure. Candidates are advised to go through the detailed BITSAT 2025 exam pattern available on this page to understand how the exam paper will be conducted. According to the BITSAT Exam Pattern 2025, the question paper will contain 130 Multiple Choice Questions (objective type) from five different sections - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency & Logical Reasoning. Candidates will have 3 hours to attempt all the questions. Each question carries 3 marks, making the BITSAT total marks equivalent to 390. As per the BITSAT marking scheme 2025, a negative marking of -1 applies to each incorrect answer. Along with the exam pattern, candidates must also review the complete BITSAT syllabus 2025 to ace their exam preparation.

The BITSAT 2025 exam paper comprises 130 questions from five subjects, namely Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Of these, the Math/Biology section carries 40 questions whereas the Physics and Chemistry sections feature 30 questions each. 20 questions are asked from Logical Reasoning and the remaining 10 from English Proficiency. BITSAT 2025 Exam Pattern Highlights

The BITSAT 2025 exam paper will include 130 questions from 5 different subjects. While Physics, Chemistry, English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning are common to all, candidates will have the option to choose between Mathematics and Biology. The total duration of the BITSAT 2025 exam is 3 hours. There is no sectional time limit and candidates are free to attempt the questions in order of preference. However, no additional time will be given to finish the paper. Candidates can also review questions previously answered and edit the same within the given time if needed. 

Some aspects that students should bear in mind about the BITSAT 2025 exam pattern are as follows:

  • The complete duration of BITSAT exam 2025 is 3 hours/180 minutes
  • The BITSAT exam 2025 will be conducted in online mode as a Computer Based Test

Candidates appearing for the BITS Admission Test must be familiar with the BITSAT marking scheme 2025 so they can calculate their scores efficiently after the test. The BITSAT exam 2025 is conducted for a total of 390 marks. Each of the 130 questions carries 3 marks. Negative marking is done in the case of incorrect answers. To calculate scores based on the total number of questions answered correctly or incorrectly, candidates must follow the BITSAT 2025 marking scheme below.

12 Additional Questions in BITSAT 2025

Candidates who attempt 130 questions within the 3-hour duration of the BITSAT exam will have the option to answer an additional 12 questions. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/ Biology, and Logical Reasoning, with only three questions from each section. However, while answering these extra questions, candidates will not be allowed to make changes to the previously attempted 130 questions. The authority will evaluate the marks scored for these 12 questions as well, with no changes in the marking pattern. Correct responses will be rewarded with +3 marks, while any wrong attempt in these questions will fetch a -1 mark, as per the BITSAT marking scheme 2025. To maximize their chances of success and score the highest marks possible, students are encouraged to practice multiple sessions of BITSAT mock test 2025.

BITS Pilani does not specify any passing marks to qualify for the examination. The scores are displayed to candidates on the screen immediately after the exam is concluded. Therefore, it depends on the total number of questions attempted correctly by the candidate. However, based on the BITSAT exam pattern 2025, difficulty level, and other related factors, candidates can consider 280+ marks as the minimum BITSAT passing marks 2025 to get a desired college and course.

Dear Student,

66% in 12th is not enough for you to apply for BITSAT. To be eligible for BITSAT, you must have a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology subjects in the 12th Class, with at least 60% marks in each of the subjects (PCM/ PCB). We suggest you go through the BITSAT eligibility criteria to get an idea and stay updated on the latest eligibility norms laid down by BITS authority. BITSAT application for the next academic session will open in January.
