About ANGRAU

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University was established in June 12, 1964, formerly known  Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University. It was renamed ANGRAU in 1996. It is one of the largest ‘State Agricultural Universities’ in India. The ANGRAU campus is located in Lam, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. It has a total of 11 constituent colleges which includes five colleges in agriculture, two in agricultural engineering, two in food science & technology, one in home science, and one in advanced postgraduate centre). Furthermore, it has six affiliate colleges, 33 research stations spread over six agro-climatic zones, and many more.

ANGRAU courses comprise four UG courses, 22 PG courses, 16 PhD courses and four diploma courses. Admission is done based on entrance examination. Candidates then need to sit for counselling where the final seats will be allotted. For admission to UG course, AP EAPCET will be considered. AIEEA will be the basis of ANGRAU admission in PG programmes. Candidates need to appear for AICE, to take admission in the doctoral programmes.

As per the ANGRAU placement report 2022, a total of 188 students were placed. The median salary offered is Rs 4 LPA for UG three-year programmes and Rs 5 LPA for PG two-year programmes. Admission at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University is offered at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral level courses. All the ANGRAU admissions are done based on entrance exams. ANGRAU UG Admission Process 2024

Step 1: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must first and foremost meet the eligibility criteria set for the course. Once the eligibility criteria are met, only then can proceed to the next stage of the ANGRAU selection process.

Step 2: Registering, Applying and Qualifying for AP EAPCET 2023

The AP EAPCET application process is mentioned below:

AP EAPCET Application Process:

  • Candidates need to visit the AP EAPCET official website and check their eligibility.
  • Once the eligibility is met, candidates need to make the exam fee payment.
  • After the candidates have checked their payment status, the need to fill up the AP EAPCET application form.
  • Candidates then need to check their application status after submission.
  • It is advised to keep a copy of the AP EAPCET application form only after submission. It will be needed at the time of counselling.


Step 3: Evaluation

Candidates at this stage will be evaluated on the basis of their merit/ranks, presidential order, region and social status. Candidates must note that only State level rank will be considered. As per the ANGRAU admission notification 2023, in the case of tie-in ranks, the marks scored in optional subjects will be taken ito consideration. If the tie persists, age will be the ultimate basis of selection.

Step 4: Counselling

Shortlisted candidates then need to visit the verification centre to complete their certificate verification. Candidates can opt for online counselling as well.

Step 5: Document Verification and Payment of Fees

Once the certificate verification is done, candidates need to visit Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University and get their documents verified. They need to pay the ANGRAU admission fees at this point itself.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University PG courses are offered in its various constituent and affiliated colleges. The PG and doctoral programmes in agriculture under Advanced Post Graduate Centre, Lam, Guntur will be offered at different campuses whereas the PG and doctoral courses in home science under Advanced Post Graduate Centre, Lam, Guntur will be offered at College of Community Science, Lam, Guntur. ANGRAU PG admission is done on the basis of AIEEA (ICAR). At the doctoral level, ANGRAU admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in AICE (ICAR) along with other parameters.

Step 1: Candidates must make sure that they meet the eligibility criteria set for the course. After the candidates have met the eligibility criteria, they need to proceed with the the next step in the ANGRAU PG admission process.

Step 2: Candidates need to apply, appear and qualify the AIEEA 2023 conducted by ICAR.  As per the ANGRAU PG selection criteria the basis of admission will be:

For PG Programmes other than MBA: Candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of previous academic performance at the UG level and  at Under Graduate level and performance in AIEEA in the ratio of 30:70.

For MBA Programme:  Candidate will be evaluated on the basis of academic performance(30%), AIEEA(80%), group discussion(10%) and interview (10%).

Step 3: Candidates then need to fill up the ANGRAU application form and pay the application fee.

Step 4: Shortlisted candidates will be then called for counselling where they need to opt ANGRAU as their preferred institute, get the documents verified and pay the admission fee as per the courses opted.

There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University. Mess Facilities

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University mess is run by the students on a no-profit no loss basis. There is a mess for every hostel and each mess is administered by the  Food Safety Standards Authority of India Act.

All Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University students are covered under the ANGRAU Student Health Care Scheme. The ANGRAU campus has well-equipped health clinics, ambulances, and 24*7 medical assistance. Medical officers are appointed on a contract basis to provide the requisite medical services to the students.

ANGRAU provides the necessary physical education facilities to its students under the guidance of regular and part-time physical directors. They train and guide the students on physical fitness. The university has playgrounds equipped with multiple courts, and indoor and outdoor gyms. Regular intercollegiate sports, games, and cultural and literary meets are organised by Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University. Many ANGRAU students have participated in inter-university sports meet and agri unifest at national levels.

ANGRAU e-Library

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University has an e-library headquartered in Lam, Guntur. There are a total of 11 ANGRAU libraries- one university library, two regional libraries and eight college libraries. All the libraries are equipped with numerous collections of books, periodicals, back volumes and reports in agriculture and allied sciences.

ANGRAU Scholarships

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University provide state and centrally-sponsored schemes to its students on both merit and need basis. Some of the ANGRAU scholarships are Jagan Anna Vidya Deevena Scheme, Jagananna Vasathi Deevena, National Talent Scholarship, Merit-cum-Means Scholarship.
