In the year 1973, Bangalore University shifted to a new campus named ‘Jnana Bharathi Bangalore University’. The campus is located on 1100 acres of land and shifted many of its postgraduate departments to this newly established campus. The University Law College which was started in 1948 and the College of Physical Education which started in 1959 is located in the Jnana Bharathi Bangalore University Campus. The University has also established Gandhi Bhavan, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's study and research center, and the center for study on social exclusion and inclusive policy. Apart from this, the Bangalore university also offers separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 6 boys hostel and 1 girl hostel. While the boy's hostel has an occupancy of 1785 inmates, the girl's hostel has an occupancy of 183 inmates. Various additional facilities are provided to the students including dining, drinking water, a reading room, TV, daily newspapers, etc. It also has a health center consisting of a patient ward, general lab, x-ray lab, and drug issuing center. The University consists of an auditorium/ seminar complex with infrastructural facilities at both campuses. Apart from this, the students are also offered residential facilities, a cafeteria, a shopping facility, wifi services, etc.
