Central University of Tamil Nadu admission to bachelor’s and master’s courses is based on the CUET and specific course-wise eligibility criteria. Courses offered under UG and PG courses include, five year integrated programmes (MA/ M.Sc), MA, M.Sc, M.Phil and PhD programmes. For CUTN PhD admission, candidates must have qualified any National Level Fellowship Examinations like JRF (UGC/ CSIR/ DBT/ ICMR/ ICAR), NET (UGC/ CSIR), GATE or equivalent. Appearing for the personal interview is compulsory to pursue PhD at Central University of Tamil Nadu. CUTN Eligibility Criteria 2024

Courses Eligibility Criteria
M.Sc in Computer Science Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications / Computer Sciences/Mathematics/ or any Bachelor’s degree in Science stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects for at least four semesters. General candidates must secure minimum 60% marks and for reserved categories 55% and above is required.
B.Sc. B.Ed. in Mathematics10 + 2 or  equivalent from any recognised board in India with 60% marks (Mathematics /Statistics, Physics and Chemistry) for general, 55% marks for OBC (NCL) and 50% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
MA in EnglishBachelor's degree with at least 55% marks for general category, 50% marks for OBC (NCL), 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates with English as major or one of the major subjects.  
MSWAny bachelor's degree from a recognised university with at least 55% marks for general category, 50% marks OBC (NCL) and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates at Graduate level. 
M.ComBachelor’s degree in commerce from a recognised university with a minimum of 55 % marks. 50% marks OBC (NCL) and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates.  
MBA

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks for general, 50% for OBC (NCL) and 45% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates. 

Candidates with a minimum of two years of industry (any) experience are preferred. 

M.Lib.I.Sci.Any Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University with at least 50% marks for General Category, 45% marks OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 40% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates at Graduate level.  
LLMLLB degree or its equivalent with a minimum 50% of marks for general, 45% in case of SC/ST/PWD in the aggregate in all the 3 years/ 5 years of B.L/ LLB course. 
PhD in Mass Communication Master’s degree in Mass Communication /Journalism/ Communication with a minimum of 55%, 50% for OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PWD marks from a recognised university/institute.  
PhD in Chemistry Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks for general, 50% for OBC (NCL)/ SC/ST/PWD in Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry or equivalent degree.

CUTN Registration Process 2024

The first step towards Central University of Tamil Nadu admission is registering for the CUET. An overview of how to register for CUET is discussed below:

CUET Registration Process 2024

The CUET application process 2024 involves the following steps:

  • Visit the CUET official website cuet.samarth.ac.in. and click on New Registration. 
  • Enter name, email address and mobile number to sign up.
  • Now using the same credentials, login into your account.
  • The application form will appear on the screen.
  • Fill in all the details and upload photograph and signature. Students are also asked about the programme applied for and choice of university (up to 3).
  • Pay the CUET fees and save the confirmation form for future reference.

Students will receive a confirmation message on their registered mobile numbers too. All details relating to CUET for CUTN, registration, exam dates and result can be found on cuet.nta.nic.in, nta.ac.in. or on CUTN official website.

List of Documents Required for CUET Registration

  • Class 10 marksheet.
  • Senior Secondary School/ PUC- II/ Higher Secondary School marksheet or equivalent.
  • School Leaving Certificate/ Transfer Certificate/ College Leaving Certificate if applicable. 
  • Community Certificate (OBC- NCL, ST, SC), EWS Certificate if applicable. All certificates must follow the GoI format. 
  • Certificate of Kashmiri Migrant and Kashmiri Pandit/ Kashmiri Hindu Pandits (Non-Migrants), for students applying under Kashmiri Migrants quota. All certificates must be issued from the competent authority in GoI format. 
  • Certificate of Ward of Defence Category (if applicable)
  • Passport sized photo and signature.

After the declaration of the CUET results, CUTN will notify candidates applying to various UG and PG programmes to come for counselling. The merit list for all programmes in different schools/centres will be uploaded on Central University of Tamil Nadu website after the counselling process is over. The selected candidates can secure their admission to their respective programmes by proving their eligibility and paying the requisite fee. If any candidate fails to secure admission before the due date, his/her seat is offered to the next candidate from the waiting list.

CUTN UG Admission 2024

CUTN UG admissions are offeredin two courses: Integrated B.Sc. BEd and Bachelor of Performing Arts (BFA). The admissionis based on the CUET scores and other NTA guidelines. Hence, to apply for admission into UG courses at CUTN, candidates must appear for the CUET. But it is equally important to fulfill the course-wise requirements.   • Visit the official CUET website (cuet.samarth.ac.in) or NTA website (nta.ac.in) and register for the test. 
  • Students who clear the test will be notified by CUTN to go for counseling. 
  • After all the counseling sessions are over, CUTN merit list will be uploaded on the website. 
  • Students must carefully go through the instructions mentioned by the university for admission.
  • Students must carry original documents/ certificates on the day of admission.
  • Post document verification, they need to pay Central University of Tamil Nadu admission fee.
  • Retain the payment receipt and other admission confirmation documents for future reference.

CUTN PG admission offered under different Schools in wide range of courses. Both MA and M.Sc courses are equally popular at the university. CUTN PG admission process involves the following steps:

  • Visit the official CUET website (cuet.samarth.ac.in) or NTA website (nta.ac.in) and register for the test. 
  • Upon clearing the test CUTN will notify the applicants for counseling at the university premises. 
  • Central University of Tamil Nadu PG merit list for respective courses is uploaded on the official website, along with the admission instructions.
  • Students must read the instructions carefully and be all prepared on the day of admission. 
  • After document verification and other formalities, students are required to pay CUTN PG fees.
  • The payment receipt and admission confirmation form must be retained for future reference.

CUTN PhD Admission 2024

  • All those candidates who are applying for PhD admission at CUTN must have cleared National Level Fellowship Examinations like JRF (UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR/ICAR), NET (UGC/CSIR), GATE or equivalent. 
  • The students must apply online through the Samarth Portal (cutnadm.samarth.edu.in)
  • Upon registration, students must fill the online form, upload the documents and pay the fee.
  • CUTN PhD application fee is Rs 1000 (GEN/OBC/EWS) and Rs 500 (SC/ST/PWD/Third Gender). Additional transaction charges & taxes are applicable through SBI Collect.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Some departments may conduct a written test at the time of interview, if required. Preference will be given to candidates with JRF. 
  • Upon the final selection, students must be present on the day of admission with their original certificates and other proof.
  • The last step is to pay CUTN PhD admission fee and secure their seat.
