Our Take:
Central University of Tamil Nadu has taken necessary steps to boost students to take up internships. However, the numbers are low and the university needs to work more on it so that every student gets a head-start by gaining experience and learning real-time skills before their final placements.

With only 22.72% placement for undergraduate students, Central University of Tamil Nadu has a lot of scope for improvement. With 30 students opting for higher studies out of 430, the placement rate is 27.25% for postgraduate students. Given the fact that postgraduate courses in the Central University of Tamil Nadu are highly demanded, the university’s placement cell must take necessary steps to improve the number of students placed every year.
For PG-integrated programmes, the placement rate is lowest at only 19.62%. Only 8 students opted for higher studies, signifying that 86 students didn't receive any placement offers or opted for it. On the brighter side, the median salary is the highest in this programme at INR 4.78 LPA.
CUTN invites applications for admission to its courses from all over India and abroad. It is a coeducational university offering equal opportunities to male and female students. Tabulated below is the Central University of Tamil Nadu gender ratio index and demographic representation:

With 67.5% females in UG 4-year programme, 55.40% in the PG 2-year and 56.62% in the PG-integrated programme, CUTN has proved that by implementing the right approach and right cost at the inclusive level, education is accessible to all.

Except for UG programmes, students from outside Tamil Nadu are more in numbers with a whopping 77.1% in the PG 2-year programme and 58.36% for PG-Integrated programmes. It further indicates that postgraduate and integrated programmes are more in demand compared to UG courses offered at Central University of Tamil Nadu.

Our Take:
The student-to-faculty ratio at CUTN is 31:1, which is acceptable considering the number of students enrolled every year. However, there is a need to employ more faculty members.
According to a newspaper snippet, 10 students went on a hunger strike demanding the university's management to revoke the termination of 2 assistant professors. One of the professors terminated was the project guide and the students failed to get any help with their project work. This signifies that enrollment of more students as compared to faculties employed has reduced the flexibility in teaching, causing distress among students if any one professor resigns or remains absent.

Central University of Tamil Nadu functions under the leadership of the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Finance Officer, Controller of Examinations, Librarian, Deans and Department Heads. The university has four main offices- Vice Chancellor Secretariat, Registrar Secretariat, Finance Officer Secretariat and Controller of Examinations Secretariat. The academic section and exam section functions under Registrar and CoE, respectively. Central University of Tamil Nadu has 92 non-teaching staff, out of which there are 15 Group A and 18 Group B staff.
Our Take:
CUTN has optimally allocated responsibility to each staff to ensure the smooth functioning of the university. Students have also opined about the effectiveness of university administration regarding admission and examination works. However, there are few circumstances where students have not received their results on time, thus, indicating that the university must bring their focus to find out the cause and mend the loopholes.
The university is nestled close to CUTN Bridge, Neelakudi, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu. The nearest bus stop is Central University Bus Stop, 2.3 km away from the university premises. Thiruvarur Junction Railway Station, the closest railway station, is at a distance of 8 km from the campus. At a distance of 130 km from Central University of Tamil Nadu is the closest airport, Thiruvarur is Tiruchirappalli International Airport (TRZ).
Our Take:
The university is located in the Kumbakonam area where transportation is an issue. Students have shared that there is no proper conveyance option for students leaving farther from the campus. Cabs are an alternative option but it becomes difficult at times to find a ride.
Located in a tranquil setup among the paddy fields, CUTN takes pride in being a rural university. Apart from operating a Community College, CUTN adopted 5 villages from the Koradacheri Block of Thiruvarur district under the Unnat Bharath Abhiyan. Recently, the prime minister inaugurated three new buildings - Kailash Sathyarthi Academic Building, Godhavari Girls Hostel and Mahanadhi Boys Hostel in February 2024.
Conclusively, we can state that CUTN has been constantly upgrading its infrastructure taking into account the huge number of applications received every year. It is a good indicator for incoming students, thus, leading to higher chances of enrollment in Central University of Tamil Nadu.

Overall: I have done my PGDCLT course in cutn from year 2021-2022. It was a great experience for me. Campus is too good. 50% people in cutn are from Kerala, some from North others are from Tamilnadu. They have good culture inside the campus. Good staff and high class laboratories almost equal to iit. Such a great experience. But climate is not good too much hot. Everyone use umbrella to protect them from sun.Hostel life is enjoyable. No restrictions at all. Totally for all state people collaboratly their. You can understand their culture, their behaviour, dressing styles, food habits etc.. It very good campus to live and study. I feel my course does not satisfied me. My project work is not good. My skills are improved during this course. I didn't utilize the opportunity during the course. There are lot of phd students help you in good way. You learn other languages quickly.
Placement: They provide lot of placements. For my course there two pharmaceutical companies which is Sygene Ltd and anthem Biosciences Ltd. I have selected for anthem Biosciences. As well as many other opportunities also came. They give specific email id for students. What ever placements vome they send a email to us
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of Cutn is Good. They have one big administration block which located centre of campus. I want mention the library mainly because library too big. They have separate building for library. The technologies in library is awesome. Then mainly mention of chemistry department. They have separate building for chemistry department. Which one floor fully laboratory only. In lab every advanced instruments available such as NMR, IR, TGA, LCMS, GCMS, UV etc... Mostly I like physics Department infrastructure. That looks classic.
Faculty: my course some subject taken by the self faculty they not good as general faculty. I feel bad for that. Generally faculty talented and experienced. Especially some staff are too good. Their knowledge in chemistry is ultimate level. They will guide us through next level. My project staff guide me study higher education which helpful to me now.
Hostel: There two boys hostel, two girls hostel. There separate hostel for Phd students. I lived new boys hostel. Both the boys hostel are good. There is a lift available. 2 members per room somewhere 4 members per room also. 24*7 electricity and water available. There have mineral water as well as hot water available for drinking. Bathroom also cleaned every morning. Shower is available. I face one issue is hair fall due to bath water not only me many of them have hair fall. One disadvantage of hostel is far away from department. Almost 1 km away from department. Food is good. Everytime Chapati available. Finally, good place to live in hostel.
Overall: The department has many skilled teachers who gonna help you in any other way possible. The food menu keeps on changing and with time the contractor gets changed because of providing degraded quality food. The hostel and departments are little far, for which students have to wait for bus in accordance with the bus timing, it’s better to switch to your own personal vehicle. Rest assured, it’s a good college for study purpose. And, wifi is available.
Placement: In my department, they do not provide placements to the student because of our subject and course. It does not includes placement at the end of the year.
Infrastructure: The old hostels are little damaged here and there, and doesn’t feels fresh on the first go. But with time, you get adjusted. The new one’s are amazing with new paints and better designing in the rooms. Where as, the departments are well equipped as well and with good facilities to sit and study. You will have the labs with computers and comfortable chairs, and good projectors.
Faculty: The geography department has the bestest faculties to get learnt from. The teachers always give their hundred and ten percent for the students, e.g Arun Prasad sir.
Hostel: In the new hostels, the rooms look’s more cleaner and tidy. It has wifi outside the room, which can be usable to study. The drinking water and hygiene is maintained always than the older one’s.
