About University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya

The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya is the first private university of science and technology in the entire northeast India. It was established in 2008. USTM Meghalaya has been awarded grade ‘A’ by UGC NAAC in 2021. The university is located in Ri- Bhoi district of Meghalaya. It is 85 km away from Shillong. USTM ranks among the top 200 universities in India.

USTM Meghalaya admissions are based on the overall merit of the students and their performance in the entrance exams. Entrance exams will be conducted for MBA, B.Pharm, D.Pharm, and BA (Administration and Governance). CAT/MAT/XMAT qualified candidates should be exempted from the MBA entrance exam. Merit list will be prepared based on the entrance test (25% weightage), the result of qualifying examination (50% weightage), and the interview (25% Marks). For admission to the PhD programme, candidates must clear the entrance test and interview. For USTM admissions 2023, candidates have to meet the USTM admission criteria.  USTM Meghalaya admission process takes place online and offline. USTM Meghalaya admission dates 2023 have not been disclosed yet. 

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya Application Process 2024

USTM application process is hassle-free. The USTM application form can be filled in the following process. 

  • Online applications may be submitted by visiting University Website. Admission forms will be accepted in the office between 09:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m. on all working days.
  • Candidates have to fill out the application form with the necessary details.
  • They have to attach the required documents (scanned copies)
  • The candidates have to pay the application fee through Net Banking, Debit Card, or Credit Card.
  • Candidates can also send the offline application form via post and send the application fee by demand draft. 

Documents Required for Admission

  • The mark sheets/certificate are in accordance with the eligibility requirements for admission as mentioned in the prospectus.
  • Proof of age based on the certificate of high school /secondary school or an equivalent examination.
  • Character certificate from the institution last attended.
  • Experience Certificate for candidates if any.
  • Proof of entitlement for reserved category issued by the competent authority.
  • No objection certificate from the present employer if any.
  • In case an intervening period/gap is involved an affidavit from notary public for the entire intervening period/gap showing the candidate’s pre-occupation and non-indulgence in any criminal activities after leaving the institution last attended will be required.
  • Proof of permanent address as declared in the application form.

University of Science and Technology Meghalaya campus is equipped with all the basic facilities for students and staff. The major features of the USTM campus are as follows-

Auditorium and Conference Hall

The Techno City campus has a central auditorium which can accommodate 5000 people. There are three other mini auditoriums and conference halls to promote the conduct of international, national and other university events. 

Moulana Azad Library

The library came into existence in 2011. The library sets a goal of a world-class library by integrating information sources and services under one roof by building a sound and comprehensive collection of printed and electronic resources. The library has a collection of 80000 books on Applied Sciences, Biological Sciences, Business Sciences, Education, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities. The library remains open on Sundays as well. There are computers in the library to be used for academic purposes. The library collects magazines and journals also. There are e-resources available such as e-journals, online databases, OPAC/Web OPAC, e thesis and dissertations etc. Students have to strictly adhere to the library rules. 

Amenity Centre

An amenity centre has been built covering 10000 sqft to fulfil the purpose of serving food, beverages and stationery items. 

Canteen

The canteen is spacious having huge dining space and kitchen. The canteen offers hygienic food to students and staff. Students residing at the hostels can have their meals here or at the hostel mess. 

Sports Complex

A sports arena covering 2 acres is here. Different sports like Football, volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Table Tennis, Baseball etc are available at USTM. The university encourages students to take part in sports activities. 

Gym 

Physical and mental well-being is extremely necessary. USTM has a gym equipped with modern exercising gadgets. There are skilled trainers suggesting modern and ancient fitness measures to build a healthy body. 

Healthcare Centre

A full-fledged healthcare centre is available here under the supervision of a doctor and nurses. Here preliminary treatment and first aid facilities are available. For major treatment, the university has tied up with hospitals in Guwahati. 

ATM 

An ATM facility is available within the USTM campus for easy and hassle-free access to money for students. 

Guest House

A guesthouse is located at the USTM campus for university students, guests and staff members. It has 9 well-furnished rooms- 8 double rooms with a common bath and 1 quadruple room with an attached bath. The guest rooms can be availed by university guests, resource persons and visiting faculty members, new joining faculty members, participants coming from outside for seminars and workshops, research scholars, parents of students, relatives of staff members etc. The guest house has excellent facilities for guests.   

Prayer Room

A multi-faith prayer room is available in the university campus. Here students, staff and faculty members can pray and meditate. There is a separate arrangement for men and women. The prayer room is available in different blocks of the campus and hostels. 

Yoga and Fitness Centre

There is a yoga and fitness centre at the campus to deal with all the stress-related health issues. There are trained experts to enhance the all-round personality development of the students. They use yoga therapy and meditation to heal stress-related issues.

Since 2019, USTM  has been offering scholarships for free education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in memory of former presidents of Asam Sahitya Sabha. This scheme was started after USTM had collaborated with Assam Sahitya Sabha. This year, USTM is offering 20 scholarships in memory of the former presidents of Asam Sahitya Sabha. USTM scholarships are based on merit and means.
