Utkal University has a long history. On 13th June 1943, Utkal University Bill was passed by the Odisha Legislative Assembly by Pandit Godavarish Mishra, the then Minister of Education. In 1950 the territorial jurisdiction of the university was not specified in the year 1950, so territorial jurisdiction was defined as including the whole Odisha State. The university has several departments and has taken charge of several constituent institutions.
At the present University of Utkal is working with 27 post-graduate teaching and research departments on campus. An effective curriculum acts as a road map for delivering quality education. Utkal Curriculum follows a semester-wise course structure where each student will be allotted a grade based on their performance in the semester exams. The number of semesters in each course may vary depending on the duration of the course. Semester exams include both theory and practical examinations in respective subjects. This club functions with the motto of expanding students' personalities through various community services. This will help them to understand their responsibility towards the community and society. It will enhance the confidence level and utilization of knowledge to find the solution to real-life problems.
2. Director, Student’s Welfare
It is an important wing of the University administration's work to support the students' financial needs and academic pursuits. It acts as a bridge between students, universities, and various funding agencies to avail of the fellowship and scholarship. It encourages students to showcase their hidden talents in the competition organized by the committee and rewards them with gold medals and cash prizes as a token of appreciation.
3. Student Grievance Cell
Students Grievance Cell of Utkal University takes care of the student’s problems. Students facing any trouble in academics or other affairs can approach the cell.
