Admissions to all B.Tech programs are made through Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) conducted by JCECE Board constituted by Govt of Jharkhand. Lateral entry to diploma holders in engineering and technology is made in the 3rd semester through competitive examination conducted separately for them. The number of seats through lateral entry in all branches are 10% of the normal seats
BIT Sindri offers 2-years, full-time MTech programme in 5 different specializations - Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical engineering and Chemical Engineering. The Institute provides a total of 10 MTech courses - Heat Power Engineering, Machine Design, Production Technology, Power System, Control System, Physical Metallurgy, Process Metallurgy, Plant Design, Soil Mechanics and Foundations Engineering, and Structural Design, over the course of two years, separated into four semesters.
The minimum eligibility criteria for MTech admissions at BIT Sindri is BE/ BTech degree with relevant subjects from a recognized university with at least 60 percent aggregate. For reserved category candidates, the minimum aggregate requirement is 55%. In addition, candidates must have a valid GATE score for BIT Sindri MTech admissions 2024.
For MTech admissions, BIT Sindri conducts a written exam followed by an interview for candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria and have a valid GATE Scorecard.

The application fee for the MTech program is Rs. 2500 and it can paid online (via internet banking and debit/credit cards) or via demand draft.
Selection for MTech admissions at BIT Sindri is done via a written test conduced by the college. The written test is followed by an interview. However, those with valid GATE scores are excused from taking the written exam and are called directly for interviews.
The counselling process for MTech admissions at BIT Sindri is simple. Shortlisted candidates, with valid GATE score, are invited for counselling and upon successful completion of the counselling process, they are granted admissions to the MTech programme at BIT Sindri. In addition, candidates who have been shortlisted but do not have a valid GATE score must attend an interview, and their results are published on the Institute's website. And such students are invited for counselling, only if they clear the cut-off determined by the institute.
Students who have qualified for the GATE must bring their original GATE score card to counselling on the designated date. Non-GATE qualified students must attend an interview for the allotment of seats that remain open after GATE qualified candidates are admitted, as per the schedule appended separately.

Admissions to M.Tech programs are made through written test/interview conducted by the institute.
