Budge Budge Institute of Technology admission to BTech courses is done based on JEE Main/WBJEE scores through WBJEE counselling. Students who pass the WBJEE exam will move on to the WBJEE 2025 counselling process, which is set to begin in the last week of June 2025 (tentative) for Budge Budge Institute of Technology admission.

Every year, a number of students from West Bengal and its adjacent states apply for the BBIT admission process. Students must apply with a valid entrance exam score. The entrance exam varies from course to course. For example, the institute accepts JEE Main, WBJEE, or JELET (Lateral Entry) scores for admission to its B.Tech programmes. On the other hand, GATE or PGET is the entrance test for BBIT M.Tech admissions. In addition to the entrance test requirements, candidates also need to meet the course-specific eligibility criteria for admission in courses offered by BBIT.

XAT 2026 registration has begun today, July 10, 2025. The last date to fill out the application form online is December 5, 2025. The exam is scheduled to be held on January 4, 2026. The exam pattern and syllabus remain unchanged from last year. Both new applicants and previously registered users can log in to complete the application process.

  • Candidates must have passed the Class 12 exam from a recognised council/ board with individual pass marks in physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects along with chemistry/ biotechnology/ biology/  computer science and with a minimum of 45% marks in the above subjects taken together as well as pass in English with a minimum of 30% marks in the said qualifying examination. 
  • They also need to produce a valid score in the JEE Main or WBJEE exam.                      
Admission through centralised counselling by the Government of West Bengal/ Direct Admission
B.Tech (Lateral Entry)
  • Candidates must be a Diploma holder in engineering from an AICTE-approved institute with a minimum of 45% marks.
  • They also need to have a valid rank of JELET.
M.Tech 
  • Candidates must be a BE/ B.Tech graduate/ M.Sc in a relevant field.
  • They also need to have a valid rank of GATE or PGET. 
MBA
  • Candidates must be a graduate of any discipline from a recognised university.
  • They also need to take the MAT, CMAT, or WBJEMAT exams.
Diploma Engineering
  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 with a minimum aggregate of 35% marks and 35% marks in physical science and mathematics with English.
  • They also qualify for the JEXPO exam. 
Diploma Engineering (Voclet)
  • Candidates must have passed Class 10 with 45% marks in aggregate and 45% marks in physical science and mathematics taken together.
  • They also must have passed Class 12 under vocational training or a 2-year ITI course. 
  • They also need to qualify for the VOCLET exam.

Dear Student,

Unfortunately, diploma students from Bihar or any other state with 10th marks are not eligible for WBJEE exam. This is because the minimum WBJEE 2025 eligibility criteria requires that all students (from West Bengal or other states) must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as main subjects to get admission to B.Tech degree.

Dear students, 

The Budge Budge Institute of Technology does not offer B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering. Therefore, you can not get lateral entry admission to B.Tech in Metallurgical Engineering at this college. The fees for the B.Tech (lateral entry) course is Rs 3,00,900 for the complete course. If you are interested in BBIT Kolkata then you can try out other specialisations of B.Tech for admission such as civil engineering, computer science & engineering, information technology, and others.

Dear Student, BBIT takes admissions on the basis of WBJEE score. If they have seats left then they will allow you for BBIT admissions. The registration process for the WBJEE 2023 mop-up round of counselling is scheduled to begin on August 14, 2023. You are advised to complete their registration before this date. The seat allotment results for the mop-up round will be announced by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) on August 22, 2023.
