IIT Dharwad placement cell offers a wide variety of placement options. It has a unique Career Development Cell (CDC) which helps both students and companies to meet their potential requirements. Career Development Cell (CDC) helps all the students of IIT Dharwad to find a career of their potential. It also helps the students to find mentoring for their higher education or IIT Dharwad internship that will play a vital role in their higher studies and career. • A Job Announcement Form (JAF) is created with information provided by a company. The IIT Dharwad campus interview dates are then allocated based on the information as per JAF.
• Once a company acknowledges the interview date, the same is announced among the students.
• The companies then visit the campus to conduct a Pre-Placement Talk (PPT).
• Students can then register for multiple companies as per their interests. The need to apply online with their resumes/CVs to get shortlisted.
• Companies will inform the list of students by email to the Career Development Cell before the IIT Dharwad campus visit for recruitment.
• Then companies conduct IIT Dharwad campus placements on these dates with multiple hiring steps like aptitude tests/group discussions/technical tests/personal interviews etc.
• These companies will then publish the final list of hired students usually within a few days once the procedure is completed.
• Students who received the offer letter can join the companies as per the allotted dates.

The Career Guidance Cell (CDC) at IIT Dharwad is an association of students and faculties which focuses on:

• Organising IIT Dharwad placement drives
• Providing training for better placement as well as internship opportunities
• Improving soft skills and interview preparation

Students who are registered through CDC for placements must adhere to the specified placement procedures and disciplinary rules.  The disciplinary rules include:

• Completion of all documents as specified by the company with no false claim
• Must attend the pre-placement talk (PPT) of the applied company
• Do not ask for pending offers
• Must adhere to the selection procedure of a particular company
• Follow the specified dress code
• No payment negotiations with HR

With the help of IIT Dharwad the Career Development Cell, summer internship placements are also arranged for the students. The students can apply through the IIT Dharwad CDC website and attend the selection procedure conducted by the relevant companies. Further assistance regarding results offer letters and procedures are given by the Internship Wing of the CDC. The specified rules and regulations for internship placement by CDC are:

• Proper documentation as specified by the mentor organisation
• Must attend the IIT Dharwad selection process 
• Once an offer is received, no rejection is permitted. In case of a medical emergency, the student must inform the CDC Internship Wing
• For each session, a maximum of one internship offer can be accepted
• No personal communication with the office is allowed.
• A student who has already got a placement offer through CDC is not allowed to apply for internships.
