Student Activity Centre (SAC):
The Student Activity Centre (SAC) is the central hub for student activities, student organizations, programming, events, sports, recreation, and fun at the NIT, Rourkela campus. The Student Activity Centre is organized into four primary societies and several clubs. Besides, every society has satellite clubs that have their management under the overall supervision of SAC. The facility is devoted to recreation and socialization to serve students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.
Technical Society:
Technical Society is one of the most enthusiastic societies in the Student Activity Centre, NIT Rourkela, with 18 Satellite Clubs under its roof. The objective of this society is to promote and encourage technical innovation and entrepreneurial qualities among students by organizing various modeling workshops, Technical Seminars, Training Courses, and many more. These are the subject areas where the satellite clubs of technological society are currently involved: Astrophysics, Automobile, Aerospace, Robotics, Fluid Dynamics, Software, Infrastructure, Mathematics, Business Management, and Entrepreneurship. The technological society also hosts a National Level Techno-Management festival annually that attracts participation from various organizations and institutions of our country.
Games and Sports Society:
The Institute has many excellent fitness facilities and playgrounds with an attractive stadium for Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Cross Country, Handball, Hockey, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Football, Netball, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Volleyball, and a fully-equipped fitness center. National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, has indoor games facilities inside the hostel premises. Games and Sports Society organizes coaching sessions for the distinguished sports and games to help students excel in their respective sports disciplines. It also extends excellent opportunities to participate at All India Inter-NIT/University/All India Inter-University/National levels.
Film and Music Society:
Recreation plays a vital role in refreshing tired minds and stimulating enthusiasm. The Film and Music Society takes care of that aspect. Its work includes inviting professionals/actors of various music and dance genres to provide training for NIT, and Rourkela Students, Regular Film screenings at the Bhubaneswar Behera Auditorium for students and staff, and organizing annual music night, annual photography competition, and acting celebrities. at night during a cultural festival, they also run a weekly film festival once a year and facilitate student practice sessions. Underneath their visions are various music bands and dance clubs that offer unique opportunities for future developers to try something new and entertain others. It creates a multicultural space by developing music, dance, and drama.
Literary and Cultural Society:
The Literary and Cultural society overlooks the literary, drama, and cultural activities. It also arranges debates, quizzes, prizes, and other competitions, both Inter-NIT and Intra NIT. It also organizes the “NITRUTSAV” each year in February. The Film and Music Society also conducts music competitions and organizes Celebrity Night annually, wherein many great musicians give enthralling performances. Several films from India and abroad are played at a weeklong film festival.

SPIC MACAY organizes thousands of programs annually to enlighten the youth candidates and enlighten them about the elegance and delicacy of Indian culture. Dear Student,
NIT Rourkela does not have a Geology department. The college offers MSc courses in four specialisations: Chemistry, Life Science, Mathematics & Physics and Astronomy. You can pursue these four MSc degrees from the college. Admissions are offered based on JAM scores. The faculty at NIT Rourkela is highly experienced and has a plethora of teaching and industrial experience. The annual fee for MSc courses is Rs 15,000-30,000.
