NIT Goa admission 2024 are now being accepted. JEE Main result for session 2 is available at jeemain.nta.ac.in for admission to B.Tech courses. Candidates can download the scorecard by entering the application number, password and date of birth. The GATE 2024 exam is the basis for admission to the M.Tech programme at NIT Goa.

National Institute of Technology Goa, also known as NIT Goa, is one of the best institutes in India that imparts knowledge in engineering through various programmes and courses. The NIT Goa campus is located at Farmagudi, Ponda, which is around 29 km southeast of the capital of Goa. Founded in 2010, this prestigious Institute operates under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Govt. of India, and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is an autonomous institute that has been declared an Institute of National Importance. According to NIRF 2020 ranking, it has achieved the 77th position amongst the best 100 engineering institutes in India. 

NIT Goa offers graduate courses in five engineering departments of computer science, electrical and electronics, electronics and communication, civil and mechanical, and postgraduate courses in computer science, electronics and communication, and electronics and electronics engineering. Besides the regular undergraduate and postgraduate courses, it also offers doctoral degrees in humanities and social Sciences to aspiring scholars. Scholarships and full-time fellowships are provided to needy students whose family income is below Rs 1 Lakh. 

NIT Goa Selection Criteria 

Students at the NIT Goa are selected for various courses depending on their eligibility. The programmes are tailor-made for the appropriate candidates. A rigorous NIT Goa screening process goes into the selection of the candidate who is rightly eligible to fill up the correct positions. The candidates, however, are given options to choose from to get the best programmes that suit their needs. They can opt for the appropriate subject based on their prospects and goals. All the courses are equally competent in nurturing the students to bring out the best in them.

NIT Goa Official Admission Portal 

All forms of queries regarding the admission procedures and the details are available on the NIT Goa admission portal. The admission forms can be easily downloaded from the site. The completed forms are to be submitted online for further consideration. Offline forms can also be submitted with the required documents at the institute campus or its admission office.

NIT Goa Application Process 

To take admission in the various courses offered by this institute, one must visit the NIT Goa official website that would guide the candidates to fill in the application forms online. The applicant must pass the respective national-level entrance exams depending on the selected course.

NIT Goa B.Tech candidates need to visit the website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (www.nta.ac.in) and fill-up the form required for JEE Mains after a successful registration. The submission process is complete once the payment is made, and the completed form can be downloaded and reserved.

M.Tech candidates need to visit the website of COAP and register there. After uploading the necessary documents and payments, the application process is complete.

For PhD aspirants, the application form must be downloaded from the official website of NIT Goa. The duly filled-up NIT Goa application form, along with the copies of the necessary documents mentioned (such as scanned copies of photographs, signature, passing certificates, mark sheets, entrance exams, caste certificates, etc.), should be sent via post to the NIT Goa address. 

NIT Goa International Admission 

NIT Goa stands out in providing educational support not only to its Indian citizens but also to non-residential Indians (NRIs) and international students. The Direct Admission of Students Abroad or DASA scheme funded by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, is open for admission to candidates who desire to gain knowledge in engineering courses at the undergraduate levels from this renowned institution. 

NIT Goa Counselling Process 

Candidates who have cleared the JEE Mains for admission in the NTA Goa B.Tech courses are put through a counselling process. The qualified students should visit the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSSA) website for a complete counselling programme. Here are the steps for registering for the JoSSA counselling programme.

  • Go to the official JoSSA website and click on the registration button.
  • To log in, use the JEE Main application number
  • Check that the profile that is been displayed is correct or not
  • Click on the option called ‘Submit changes’
  • Next, based on the list of options available, fill up the places for preferred colleges and their specialisations
  • After making all the appropriate choices, click on the ‘I agree to lock my choices’ option to confirm your selections
  • Once the process is complete, a printout of the complete application form must be taken for future reference and use.

Candidates who wish to pursue M.Tech in this institute must undergo a CCMT counselling process. To apply for the CCMT counselling process after a valid GATE score, one needs to

  • Register at the official website of CCMT and fill up the application form given
  • A registration fee of Rs 2,200 (Rs 1,700 for reserved categories) needs to be paid before proceeding
  • After entering all the necessary details, click on the ‘I agree’ option to lock all the inputs given by you
  • Apply and before checking out, keep a printout of the form for future reference.

NIT Goa B.Tech Admission

NIT Goa offers five NIT Goa B.Tech specialisations for four years, including computer science and engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, electronics and communication engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. 

Eligibility criteria

  • The students applying for the courses should pass Class 12 examination with a 75% aggregate.
  • The primary subjects in their curriculum should include physics, chemistry, and biology.
  • Preference would be given to the top 20% of respective boards.

Selection criteria

  • The initial selection is based on the marks obtained in JEE Main.
  • With a valid JEE Main score, the candidates are shortlisted for JoSSA counselling.
  • Students with good scores in JEE are admitted to the campus according to their ranks. However, the availability of seats is also a point of consideration.

NIT Goa M.Tech Admission

NIT Goa has three specialisations (CSE, VLSI, and PEPS) in the M.Tech course, which is for two years.

Eligibility criteria

  • The candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in subjects like engineering, technology, architecture, or mechanical science.
  • Candidates with equivalent professional degrees like AMIE, etc., will also be given preference.
  • The candidate should score a minimum of 60% in aggregate or have a CGPA of 6.5 out of 10.
  • Students of reserved categories like SC/ST/PWD should have a minimum aggregate of 55%.

Selection criteria

  • The eligible candidates must score a good GATE percentile based on selections.
  • After a valid GATE score, the selected ones need to go through centralised counselling for the M.Tech (CCMT) counselling process.

NIT Goa PhD Admission

Eligibility criteria

  • Aspiring doctoral candidates should have a ME or M.Tech degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university.
  • He/she should score a minimum of 6.5 CGPA out of 10 points or have a 60 % aggregate in both the bachelor’s and master’s courses 
  • For reserved categories like SC/ST, the minimum CGPA required is 6.00 out of 10 points.
  • Candidates must have a valid NTA NET/ CSIR NET score

Selection criteria

Doctoral candidates are usually selected based on a written test and interview conducted by the institute. 

To qualify for admissions to PhD programmes with specialisation in applied sciences, humanities, and social sciences:

  • The candidate must have a master’s degree in sciences or humanities or M.Tech with relevant specialisation
  • He/she should have a minimum of 6.5 CGPA out of 10 or a 60 % aggregate in both the bachelor’s and master’s courses 
  • For reserved categories like SC/ST, the minimum CGPA required is 6.00 out of 10 points.
