NIT Goa admission 2024 is ongoing for various courses. For B.Tech admission, JEE Main 2025 application form will be released by November 2024 and the exam will be conducted in January and April 2025, for M.Tech, GATE registration will commence on August 24, 2024, and exams will be held on Feb 1, 2, 15, and 16, 2025. Admission to PhD is based on the UGC NET score, which will be conducted between August 21, 2024, to September 4, 2024. NIT Goa fees range between Rs 40,000 to Rs 5,00,000 annually.

About NIT Goa

The National Institute of Technology Goa, also known as NIT Goa or NITG, is considered as one of the premier technical institutes of the region. NIT Goa was established in 2010 and it started its first academic year in 2010-11 by admitting its first batch of students. The institute was ranked at 76th position by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2017. NITG was set-up during the Eleventh Five Year Plan by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) with other ten newly set-up NITs. The central government sanctioned 250 crores to build the institution. In the initial years, NIT Goa was mentored by NIT Karnataka, Surathkal. 

NIT Goa has 7 departments namely Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Applied Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Electric and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering. These departments manage 5 undergraduate courses in engineering, 3 postgraduate courses in engineering and 5 courses in PhD. A strong faculty of 40 members is always dedicated to achieving greatness for the institute and students. Students need to qualify entrance examinations to get admission to these courses in NIT Goa. some of the examinations are conducted at the national level while some at the college level. 

The vision of NIT Goa is to emerge as one of India’s pre-eminent institutions and to serve humanity at large with all the challenges and opportunities through its excellence. The institute strives for quality faculty, good students and excellent infrastructure to provide them with the best facilities. NIT Goa lays stress on an interdisciplinary approach in all the branches of Engineering, Humanities, Science, Management and Technology with an emphasis on ethics and human values. The campus of NIT Goa is located at Farmagudi, Ponda in Goa. NIT Goa offers B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD degree courses in the fields of engineering, technology, humanities, and social sciences. Among all the NIT Goa courses, B.Tech is the flagship course of the institution. Below is more information on the NIT Goa B.Tech programmes, M.Tech programmes, and PhD programmes. Here is a table describing the course-wise NIT Goa fees.

NIT Goa Course Details

B.Tech Programmes

Computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering are the five engineering departments that offer NIT Goa B.Tech courses.

M.Tech Programmes

Computer science and engineering (CSE), VLSI, and power electronics and power systems (PEPS) are among the M.Tech programmes offered by the institute. The institute accepts students with valid GATE and CCMT scores (centralised counselling for M.Tech admissions). 

PhD Programmes

PhD is available in five distinct engineering disciplines at the institute:  electronics and communication engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. PhD degrees in physics, chemistry, mathematics, economics, and English are available at the institute.

NIT Goa Application Process 

  • Candidates must go to the official website of the respective national-level entrance test conducting organisations and fill out an online application form to be considered for admission to the NIT Goa courses offered.
  • B.Tech applicants must complete the JEE Main application form on the National Testing Agency's (NTA) website.
  • Candidates must download and print out the completed application form. Candidates should keep the print copy of the application form safe until the admissions process is completed.
  • GATE  is the most important exam for students interested in postgraduate programmes at IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other prestigious institutions around the country. Candidates for the M.Tech programme must first register on the COAP's official website. Candidates must register on the official website for the remainder of the courses.
  • The following are the measures to take to be admitted to a PhD programme in . Download the application form for the PhD programme from the NIT Goa website. Then the completed application form, along with the required documentation, must be mailed to the NIT Goa address in an offline manner. In addition to the application form, a demand draft should be enclosed.

NIT Goa Application Fees 

NIT Goa B.Tech Application Fee

  • The application cost for unreserved/EWS/OBC male applicants is Rs 650 for India and Rs 3,000 for centres outside India.
  • Unreserved/EWS/OBC female applicants must pay Rs 325 for India and Rs 1,500 for centres outside India.
  • Candidates from the SC/ST/PWD/Transgender categories must pay Rs 325 for India and Rs 1,500 for centres outside India.

NIT Goa M.Tech Application Fee

  • The fee is not refundable or transferable. The application fee can be paid via net banking, debit card, credit card, or wallet. Depending on the current rules, additional bank charges may be applied to the fee payment.
  • The application fee for all the candidates, including international candidates, is Rs 1,500, and if paid late, a fine is imposed, making it Rs 2,000. Whereas there are relaxations for SC/ST/PWD and female candidates. They have to pay Rs 750 and, if paid late, Rs 1,250.

  • The NIT Goa application fee for PhD candidates belonging to the general or OBC category is Rs 500, whereas for SC/ST candidates is Rs 300.

NIT Goa Placements

The NIT Goa training and placement cell is in charge of meeting the training and placement needs of the institute's outstanding students. It assists the institute in asking employers to recruit on campus, as well as organising pre-placement seminars, interviews, and corporate interaction. This interface serves as a guide for businesses to familiarise themselves with the facts and procedures around recruitment.

NIT Goa Placements 2022

Over the last few years, NIT Goa placementshave maintained a placement rate of over 90%. 51 students were placed at top-notch firms in various sectors. At the NIT Goa placement drive 2021, the highest compensation offered was Rs 20 Lakhs per annum, with an average income of Rs 7.61 Lakhs per annum. Infosys, Persistent Systems, RAAM Group, Reliance Jio, Credence Analytics, Sigmoid Analytics, and others are NIT Goa top recruiters.

For 2021, NIT Goa has achieved a placement record of 90.38%, placing almost 47 students out of a total number of 52 students in various sectors. CSE placed 22 students out of 22, making it a 100% placement, whereas ECE placed 16 students out of a total number of 19 students making it 84.21%. EEE had a placement record of 81.81% placing 9 students out of 11 students.

NIT Goa Cut Off

NIT Goa cutoff is yet to be released. However, candidates can check the NIT Goa cutoff 2023 for round 6 released by JOSAA. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the programme-wise cutoff for the All India quota, various seat types and gender. The NIT Goa B.Tech cut off 2023 will be declared in a total of 6 rounds of counselling as per the availability of seats. The cutoff is based on ranks secured by students in JEE Main 2023.

NIT Goa Campus Facilities and Infrastructure

The NIT Goa campus is located at Farmagudi, Ponda approximately 29 km southeast of Panaji, the capital of Goa and it is a temporary campus. The institute is all set to receive 120 acres of land for its development.

National Institute of Technology Library Goa is a living creature with compact features like documents, users, and services. Its main goal is to assist academics in developing knowledge through various educational activities such as teaching and research. It was first published in 2011. It contains high-quality documents on themes such as science, technology, engineering, economics and finance, management, professional communication, and ethics. Documents on literature and other subjects are accessible in addition to these essential collections. To suit academicians' knowledge needs, the library uses the 'recommendation approach' to obtain documents. The library's primary goal is to build a high-quality collection of books, journals, digital documents, periodicals, and daily newspapers. Library cleaning is done with the help of library automation software. To save time, the library recalls and warns its users about their transactions and supports them in searching using the OPAC database. The following are the top priorities for the library:

  • As a resource provider, to be an active participant in the instructional programme.

Goa Shipyard Ltd. Scholarship Programme for SC/ST/OBC students from Goa:

Eligibility: This NIT Goa scholarship scheme is open to all Goa SC/ ST/ OBC inhabitants who are also studying in the state. To be eligible, the parent's annual income must not exceed Rs 1,50,000 per annum for technical diplomas and equivalent, Non-technical degree courses (i.e., BA, B.Com, and B.Sc), and Rs 1,50,000/- per annum for engineering, medical degree courses and equivalent, and courses like MBA, Nursing, BBA, and so on.

Residents of Goa who are studying in locations outside of the state will not be eligible for the scheme.

Students who wish to pursue professional courses and secure admission to an engineering or medical college/institute under state quota as per State/Central Govt. policy in any other state will be eligible for the scholarship upon submitting the necessary documents/certificate from the appropriate authority.

Directorate of Tribal Welfare Post-Matric Scholarship:

The Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme is only accessible for study in India and is provided by the state government of the applicant's residence.

Scholarships are available for all recognised post-secondary courses in government-authorised schools, except for some identified training courses such as aircraft maintenance engineer's courses, private pilot licence courses, etc.

Scholarships are available to students whose parents' or guardians' total annual income does not exceed Rs 2,50,000. Through the NSP Portal, all students should apply for the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme.

  • Campaign for a plastic-free village:

As part of the Swachhata Hi Sewa Campaign, NIT Goa UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan) cell organised a plastic-free village campaign in the designated community. The institute supported the campaign, which took place in Kalay village. A group of 52 people, including 9 NIT Goa faculty members, 6 non-teaching staff, and the rest students, went to the village to raise awareness. In each home, pamphlets and cloth bags were distributed.

  • Shramdaan: Plastic garbage

Every member of the institute participated in a significant plastic garbage Shramdaan, where they collected plastic waste. A specific plastic collecting campaign was also held around the institute. The waste was collected and delivered to the panchayat for recycling.

NIT Goa B.Tech admission is to start on June 10, 2024, along with the registration process of JoSAA. The National Testing Agency (NTA) released the JEE Main 2024 Session 2 Paper 1 results on April 24, 2024. Candidates can receive their results and scorecards and check their scores by submitting their JEE Main Session 2 application number, pin, and date of birth. The JoSAA cutoff 2024 for admission to B.Tech at NIT Goa is expected to be announced in the form of opening and closing ranks by the second week of June 2024.

M.Tech CSE/VLSI admission capacities are 25 each, with 23 through CCMT and two through sponsorship; M.Tech PEPS intake capacity is 24, with 22 through CCMT and two through sponsorship. The total number of seats available for M.Tech is 74, with 68 seats filled through CCMT and the remaining 6 seats reserved for sponsored candidates.
