The girls and the boys hostels of the college have a capacity to accommodate 90 residents each. Hostel accommodation is allotted strictly on merit basis. The application form for admission to the hostel can be obtained from Ms Lata Sharma, Office clerk for Hostel affairs, on payment of Rs. 10. The completed form with the supporting documents is to be deposited with her up to 30/6/2013 for preparation of the merit list. Any change in this date will be notified on the college notice board. In additional to teaching physical education as a subject, the college provides optimum facilities for various games viz. cross country, athletics, cricket, hockey, volley ball, football, kho-kho, kabaddi, handball, basketball, boxing, judo, table tennis, badminton and weightlifting etc. Inter college competitions in various games are held by HPU every year to promote the sports man ship spirit among students.
Infrastructure: The classes in science block do consist of white board digital ones and also black board i dont know about every block but i think the digital boards are available here. There's a gym in an indoor stadium or auditorium for sports. A library is also there which is helpful even though the librarian isnt really helpful I'll have to say not the best person for the job. Theres a little botanical garden a small college museum in science block its kinda helpful. There are all labs here even though few equipments are not provided as they r unavailable.
Hostel: The girls hostel is actually well built its spacious and feels open the rooms are available as 4 sharing or 3 sharing theres a lady guard always present there and also a warden ( even though she's not full time). There's water 24/7 and electricity as well. Monkeys do roam around dew times a years so be careful as to not to leave ur stuff outside. There are balconies in every room and 2 terrace on the top floor . The mess currently isnt the best we can find food worms and mess staff is okayish the food is eatable atleast would be really helpful if the principal were yo actually do something about this.
Infrastructure: Computer Laboratory Considering today's need for computerization, our College is proud to have all the infrastructure facilities in certain faculties such as Commerce, Geography and Mathematics. These departments have their own computer laboratories with modern equipment and necessary software (Microsoft Office, Mathematica, Matlab, Latex, C++ software, etc.) to meet the needs of students. In addition, the library also has an e resource center, which provides access to e resources among other things. Library Shahid Bhagat Singh College has a fully computerized barcode library. The library has a computer lending system with barcodes. We have two computers dedicated to OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) book searches. This collection is enriched by his over 86,796 books on various research fields. The library also subscribes to over 100 of his periodicals in various fields (national and international, specifically Harvard Business Review, The Economist, etc.). The library also has a small computer lab for accessing electronic resources subscribed to by the College of Delhi through the College's intranet and the Internet. The Library also holds orientation programs from time to time and provides orientation in electronic resources for accessing bibliographic databases and full text databases available through the College's intranet and the INFLIBNET Consortium and Information Literacy Program. Students are encouraged to inquire about various library services with Dr. Puja Anand Gulati, Librarian. Canteen The College campus has a spacious and well ventilated canteen building with ample seating, separate from the academic blocks. We provide students and faculty with a variety of snacks, food, tea, coffee, and other beverages at low prices. The canteen committee monitors food quality, care and hygiene. A proposal to renovate the cafeteria was recently approved by the Building Committee and Board of Directors. Seminar Rooms The College has two seminar rooms equipped with state of the art equipment. The College organizes seminars, workshops and lectures with the active participation of students and teachers. Prominent scientists and experts from academic and business organizations are invited to interact with students and give lectures.
Hostel: The buildings were inaugurated on 23rd Oct 2008 by Hon. Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal. Both the hostels have capacity of 90 students with preference to SC and ST students. There are 30 rooms in both hostels and each room is shared by 2-3 students. The hostel provides adequate facilities with a study room, common room, and bathrooms with geysers on each floor, filter for water, and table, chair, bed and almirah for each student and mess facilities. Currently there are 85 students residing in girl’s hostel and 61 students residing in boy’s hostel. With warden and hostel committee looking after the affairs of the students, the hostel is a home away from home for those who have chosen to stay here. The rules and regulations are strictly implemented for the hostel to be safe and productive space.
