The Regional Services Directorate (RSD) is situated in Haldwani's University Headquarter. The Directorate develops and enforces regulations for the efficient management of Regional Centers and Learner Support Centers. The RSD department at the university is in charge of timely, appropriate service delivery to its clients through a network of Regional Centers (RC) and Learner Support Centers (LSCs), which serve as intermediate and final recourses, respectively. In addition to this, RSD is in charge of dealing with the RCs and LSCs and how they operate.
Regional Centers, scattered throughout Uttarakhand, are responsible for coordinating efforts between the several LSCs and the University. The University now has eight regional centres, four of which are in the Garhwal area (Dehradun, Roorkee, Pauri, Uttarkashi) and four of which are in the Kumaun region (Ranikhet, Haldwani, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh). Under each RC, there are varying numbers of LSCs that give individuals in the State access to higher education as well as expand its reach to underserved, disadvantaged, and excluded people who live in remote areas and challenging terrain in Uttarakhand.
After adhering to all legal requirements and other UGC-issued recommendations, the Directorate of Research and Innovation was founded in 2012. The Director oversees the Directorate of Research and Innovation, with assistance from the Assistant Directors, Research Officer, and Administrative Consultant to ensure the Directorate runs well. The Directorate scrupulously complies with all laws, rules, and directives issued from time to time by the UGC, and it does so by incorporating them into its research ordinances for effective application.
The Directorate of Research and Innovation is always working to improve research workflow, investigate important topics for future research, and develop plans for achieving its objectives. The Directorate's flagship programme is the Ph.D. Program, which is available in a number of academic fields. There are fourteen fields in which the university now offers doctoral programmes.
To give exposure and enhance research scholars' understanding, the Directorate invites experts from academia and industry to teach the skills of conducting research, putting ideas into reality, and recognising social and economic prospects. Furthermore, industry personnel are appointed to the Planning Board and other Panels in order to influence research, teaching, and practise. The Directorate also seeks to encourage collaborative initiatives that strive to innovate among academics, university professors, and students in collaboration with national and international organisations.
Uttarakhand Open University 92 conventional, career-oriented, technical, and marketable courses. These programmes are all approved by the University Grants Commission and the Bureau of Distance Education (DEB) (UGC). The university's current goals include strengthening its production and distribution of study materials as well as transforming the educational system into one that is entirely based on the needs of the students.
One of the most crucial components of the distant and open education system is the Material Production and Distribution Division (MPDD), formerly known as the Book Distribution Section. According to the recommendations of the course coordinators, MPDD makes it easier to create and distribute self-instructional study material (SLM) for a variety of University programmes and courses. It operates with the knowledge that SLM is occasionally accessible to students, university study centres, and regional learning centres. In addition to this, it also prints the necessary quantity of materials, stores them, keeps track of its stock, and sends them to the relevant units (course wise and medium wise). 90% of the work in MPDD is automated.
The university made the choice to provide students the option of e-material. In an effort to entice students toward using digital materials, 15% off of the programme fee will be granted to those students who choose e-material.
The following are crucial MPDD operations:
