A constituent college of Delhi University (DU), Satyawati College was established in 1972 by the Government of Delhi. It was named after the granddaughter of Swami Shradhanand, Behen (Sister) Satyawati, known as Toofani Behan by Mahatma Gandhi for her commitment and dedication. She was known for working with leaders like Sarojini Naidu, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Jai Prakash Narain.
Located at Ashok Vihar, New Delhi, Satyawati College is recognised by UGC and accredited by NAAC with an A grade. A co-educational college, it offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The Satyawati College courses are offered in fields like arts, commerce, science etc. The institute also was provided with a grant for a project under the Innovation Cell of Delhi University. A group of 10 students from the commerce and economics programme were mentored by the professors of the economics department, for this project.
