VIT Vellore Admission 2024 - Dates, Application Form, Eligibility & Process

VIT Vellore admission is done either through an entrance exam or merit in the qualifying exam. The institute conducts its own entrance exam for admission to some UG and PG courses like BTech, MBA, etc. VIT Vellore conducts VITEEE for admission to BTech programmes, VITMEE for admission to MTech courses and VITREE for PhD admission. Besides, the institute also accepts other entrance exams such as NATA, GATE, etc. for admission to specific courses. At Vellore Institute of Technology, a total of 18 courses are offered at UG, PG and doctoral levels in various streams such as Management, Engineering, IT, Design etc. 

Admission to other courses like BSc, BCom, BCA, etc at VIT Vellore is done on the basis of merit and requires no entrance exams for these courses. Final selection is based on the combined performance in the entrance exam, group discussion, personal interview, and academic background. Vellore Institute of Technology also offers scholarships at the time of admission. Merit based scholarship is available to students with a good academic background in the form of tuition fee waivers. The scholarship is also provided to economically backward classes as financial assistance for VIT Vellore admissions.

VIT Vellore Selection Criteria for UG Courses

Selection is based on the rank secured through the VITEEE exam. Selected candidates can participate in online counselling based on their ranking. They are given options to choose a specific campus, programme and category of fees. Candidates upto 1 lakh rank are eligible for counselling at  VIT  Vellore. The authority will verify the eligibility of candidates after completing the payment within the mentioned date. Candidates need to produce documents on the day of reporting to the campus. 

VIT Vellore selection process for undergraduate courses is based on certain criteria. These are as follows:

• VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination): Candidates must appear for VITEEE, which is the main entrance exam for B.Tech programmes at VIT Vellore. Admission is based on the rank obtained in VITEEE. 
• Eligibility Criteria: For B.Tech: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology with 60 % marks for general category and 50 % for other categories. For B.Arch: Candidates must have completed their 10+2 with Mathematics as a compulsory subject. They must have qualified for NATA or JEE Main Paper 2. For other UG (BBA, B.Sc, etc.): Candidates should have passed their 10+2 in their relevant subjects with the required marks.
• Counselling and Seat Allotment: Based on the VITEEE rank, candidates are called for counselling. During counselling, candidates can choose their preferred branch and campus based on the availability of seats and their rank. The seat allotment is merit based which is considered based on the candidate's rank in VITEEE and their preference.

• M.Tech Admission- Candidates must have completed BTech in a relevant field. They must have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in their qualifying degree. Candidates need to appear for VITMEE.Shortlisted candidates based on VITMEE scores are called for counselling.
• MBA Admission- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks. Candidates need to have a valid score in any entrance exam within CAT, XAT, MAT, NMAT, CMAT, GMAT, or VIT's own entrance exam for MBA. Based on the entrance exam scores, candidates are shortlisted for further rounds of VIT Vellore admission process that include group discussions and personal interviews.
• M.Sc Admission- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Science with a minimum of 60% marks. Admission is based on VITMEE. Candidates are shortlisted for VIT Vellore admissions based on entrance scores or academic performance are called for counselling or direct interview for final selection.
• MCA Admission- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in BCA or a Bachelor's degree with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at graduation level with 60% marks in total. Selection is based on VITMEE scores. Shortlisted candidates are called for counselling.
• M.Des Admission- Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Design with a minimum of 60% marks. Candidates must have a valid score in CEED or VIT's own entrance exam for M.Des. Final selection is based on scores obtained in the entrance exam, and interview.

The VIT Vellore application form is released in online mode at vit.ac.in. Candidates need to register themselves by paying a non-refundable application fee as per the course. The list of short-listed candidates is published on the website or via SMS sent to the registered mobile number of the candidate. Provided below are the steps of the VIT Vellore application process.

• Provide your email address and mobile number. You will receive an OTP on your mobile number for verification. After OTP verification, a password will be sent to your email.
• After entering all the details, an application number will be generated that will be useful  for all future correspondence.
• Next, pay the application fee as suggested and upload a photo and signature as instructed.
• Save the filled-in application form for your reference. You do not need to send a hard copy of the application form to the university.
