Zakir Hussain College Scholarships 2024 - Details, Eligibility, Amount

Three scholarships of the value of Rs. 1400 each are awarded annually to the undergraduates who secure the highest percentage of marks in the college at the final year University examination in

• Humanities and Social Sciences stream including Psychology but excluding Mathematics,
• Science stream including B.A. & B.Sc. (Hons.) courses in Mathematics, and Commerce stream.

Three scholarships, for the following categories of students obtaining highest percentage of marks in the college at the second year University examination,

• Rs. 700 for a visually handicapped student,
• Rs.1100 for Humanities and Social Sciences stream including Psychology and Commerce stream but excluding B.A. (Hons.) Mathematics, and
• Rs. 1100 for Science stream including B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mathematics.

One scholarship of the value of Rs. 1100 to a student securing highest percentage of marks in college at the second year B.A. (Hons.)  University examination in Political Science.

Four scholarships for the following categories of II year students who obtain highest percentage of marks in the following courses.;

• Rs. 700 for a student in B.A. (Hons.) Psychology
• Rs. 350 for a student in Humanities & Social Sciences stream excluding psychology andB.A. (Hons.) Mathematics.
• Rs. 350 for a student in Science stream including B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) courses in Mathematics and
• Rs. 350 for a Commerce Student.

No student shall be awarded two scholarships in one academic session. In the case of overlapping the decision of the Awards Committee shall be final.

The University of Delhi conducts a competitive examination in the month of October for awarding scholarships of the value of Rs. 250 per month for three years. The first year students admitted to Bachelor with Honours Courses may appear for this examination. They may contact examination Branch VII, University of Delhi, on any working day between 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. after 1st August.

Botany Department awards a cash prize of Rs. 500/- each to the students securing highest marks in  B.Sc. (Honours) in  Botany Semester IV and B.Sc. Life Sciences Semester IV. The prize money is funded by the “Harjnder Grover Endowment Fund which was instituted in the memory of Late Dr. (Mrs.) Harjnder Grover who remained on the faculty of the department for a long time.

Chemistry Department awards every year a medal, books and certificate to the students securing first position in B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry I, II &  III year in the college as well as to the student who tops the Delhi University in B.Sc. (Hons.) Chemistry final year. The award is instituted in the memory of  Late Mr. S.P.Suri who established the Chemistry Department in the College and was on its faculty till 1987.

Chemistry Department also gives proficiency awards to the students of  B.Sc. ( Hons.)  Chemistry I, II ,& III  year who secure II and III position in the college. The award has been instituted by Dr. M. K. Gupta who has recently retired as Associate Professor from Chemistry Department.

Bengali department has started Gopa Dey Memorial Award of Rs. 1500/, Rs. 1000/- and Rs. 500/- each for the students of  B.A. (Hons.) in Bengali II and III year who secure first, second & third position in the college. The department will also award Rs. 1000/- to the student of B.A. ( Hons.) in Bengali II/III year  for remarkable performance in sports and or cultural activities 

A fund of Rs. 5,51,000/- is created in the year 2015 for the benefit of students of the College belonging to economically weaker sections of the society by Mr. Ashok Sharma,  Department of Commerce in the name of his mother. 60% of the interest acrued out of above fund will be used for payment of admission fee of students of commerce for 3rd semester onwards and 40% of interest will be used towards payment for purchase of books for students from any discipline.
