Types of Maharashtra Scholarships 2025

Listed below are the types of Maharashtra Scholarships available along with the eligibility and awards.

1. Post-Matric Scholarship for SBC Students, Maharashtra

This scholarship is provided by the VJNT, OBC, and SBC Welfare Department of Maharashtra to the SBC candidates. The scholarship can be renewed by the candidates by qualifying the past year's examination.

2. Open Merit Scholarship in Junior College

This scholarship is provided by the School Education and Sports Department, Maharashtra, for candidates of junior college to motivate them to pursue higher education.

3. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Yojna

As a constituent of the DTE Maharashtra scholarship, the prime motive behind this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to the EBC category candidates taking up diploma, graduate, and postgraduate degrees. The students can apply through the Maharashtra scholarship portal.

4. Merit Scholarships for Economically Backward Class Students

Provided by the School Education and Sports Department [SESD], the merit scholarships for economically backward candidates studying in class XI and class XII seek to motivate candidates for college education.

5. Punjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna

This scholarship seeks to provide financial support to the children of farmers and labourers, who are certified as marginal farmers or registered labourers by the relevant authorities. This scholarship can be availed by the candidates of general and SEBC categories seeking to pursue polytechnic or vocational courses offered by government, government-funded or unaided colleges.

6. Jawaharlal Nehru University Scheme

Provided by the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), this scholarship scheme selects a candidate studying at the Jawaharlal Nehru University. 

7. Eklavya Scholarship

The Department of Higher Education (DHE) Maharashtra provides this scholarship for candidates pursuing postgraduate courses based on their merit.

8. Government Vidyaniketan Scholarship

This scholarship is available for the candidates who have qualified their Standard 10 exam from the Government Vidyaniketan school in Aurangabad. The selection of candidates is based on merit.

9. Post-Matric Tuition Fee and Examination Fee (Freeship) Scholarship

The Social Justice and Special Assistance of Maharashtra provides this scholarship as financial assistance to the SC category candidates seeking to take up higher education so that they don’t opt out of institutes due to lack of finance. 

10. Tuition Fees and Examination Fees Scholarship for OBC Students

The VJNT, OBC, and SBC Welfare Department provide this scholarship with the motive of creating equal educational opportunities for all candidates of different backgrounds. This scholarship involves financial assistance to the OBC candidates so that they can continue with higher education.

Maharashtra Scholarships 2025 Application Process

The Government of Maharashtra operates an online scholarship application portal called the Mahadbt Scholarship Portal, which allows you to apply for various Maharashtra scholarships. Here's how you can apply step by step:

Step 1: Register Online at Mahadbt

You can register using either your Aadhaar (UID) or without it.

UID-based Registration

1. Go to the official website: mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in
2. Click on "New Applicant Registration".
3. Select "Yes" when asked about Aadhaar, then enter your Aadhaar number.
4. Authenticate your Aadhaar either through:
   • OTP (if your mobile number is linked), or
   • Biometric (if your mobile number is not linked).
5. Once your Aadhaar is verified, fill in the required details on the registration form.
6. Create your login credentials (username and password).
7. Verify your email ID and mobile number using the OTP sent to you.
8. Save your details and proceed.

Non-UID-based Registration

1. Visit the Mahadbt portal and click on "New Applicant Registration".
2. Select "No" when asked about Aadhaar.
3. Register using your Aadhaar Enrolment ID or by checking the status of your Aadhaar number.
4. Fill in all the required details.
5. Verify your email ID and mobile number through OTP.
6. Create your username and password.
7. Upload your photo and other necessary documents (identity proof, address proof, and birth proof).
8. Click on "Register" to complete your registration.

Step 2: Log in to the Portal

• After registering, go to "Applicant Login".
• Enter your registered username and password to log in.
• If you forget your password, click on "Forget password" to reset it.

Step 3: Apply for the Scholarships

• Once logged in, you'll be redirected to your dashboard.
• Click on "Profile" and complete it 100%.
• Once your profile is complete, the portal will show you the scholarships you're eligible for.
• Choose the scholarship you want to apply for.
• Click "Apply" to begin your application.
• Fill in all required details and upload any necessary documents.
• Finally, submit your application.

Step 4: Track Your Application Status

• After submission, click on "Applied Schemes" to check the status.
