North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, established in 1973 under an Act of Parliament, is a central university recognized by UGC and accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. Spread across two campuses—1225 acres in Mawkynroh-Umshing, Shillong, and a 374-acre campus in Tura, Meghalaya—NEHU ranks 101–150 in the NIRF 2024 University category and 172 in QS Asian University Rankings (Southern Asia) 2025. With eight schools, 44 departments, and 79 affiliated colleges, NEHU offers 362 undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, certificate, and doctoral programs across streams like Engineering, Arts, Science, Law, Management, and Architecture. Popular courses include B.Tech, M.Sc., MBA, and M.A. NEHU B.Sc. is not offered at the UG level; only professional UG courses like B.Tech are available. Overall: This is the best college in eastern area from infrastructure and management point of view. Faculty members are having so much knowledge and always support the students in placement process.
ReportOverall: campus was amazing,teacher were amazing lufe was amazing over there. love ever single moment spent there, the place is full of greenery,how i wish i could go back.
Faculty: the teachers were great, very friendly, always giving us knowledge day by day. and also so much eagerness in teaching ,i have never felt as friendly and welcoming like a family in my entire life.
ReportOverall: ये एक सेंट्रल यूनिवर्सिटी है| यहाँ का पढाई या अभ्यास भी अच्छे से होता है | यहां के फैकल्टी बहुत मदद करते हैं | इसलीये यहाँ पर किसी चीज़ का समस्या नहीं है|
Faculty: यहां के फैकल्टी प्रोफेसर अपने दोस्त की तरह रखते हैं | जिस छात्र को कोई समस्या का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता प्रोफेसर स्टूडेंट को बहुत मदद करते हैं| सभी विषयों का अलग-अलग प्रोफेसर रहते हैं
ReportOverall: For masters and phd holders,the university gives you full value of money and your time.I had a great experience. The campus was nice with good infrastructure with good facilities like laboratories and library. when I need break from study I was going play group to play cricket there was very good play ground and garden.
Faculty: The teachers of our college were helpful and knowledgeable. They were highly qualified and supportive to the students. The course curriculum was relevant and it made the students industry ready. The semester exams were hard to pass. The pass percentage was 33%.
ReportOverall: The campus stays cold all over the year. The nearby city is full of ingenious tribes who are matrilineal and they are mostly Christian and speak English. Transportation is not great 3/5 in that area. And we get 2 days off per week with a 2-month winter vacation. It is a claiming place. Over I like this university.
Faculty: In our department, all the teachers are very knowledgeable and not so hard to talk with them if you have any questions. But for some reason, they don't give full marks no matter how good is your answer in not just our department but the whole NEHU
