Founded in 2004, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University is one of the four agricultural universities carved out of the Gujarat Agricultural University. Popularly known as SDAU, the university is a State Agricultural University approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR). Today, the jurisdiction of SDAU spreads over seven districts of North and North West Gujarat, including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kachchh, and Aravalli.
The SDAU courses list includes a number of UG, PG, Polytechnic Diploma, and PhD programmes in various specialisations related to the field of agriculture, veterinary and animal husbandry, and horticulture. All these courses are offered under its university teaching departments and constituent colleges. There are a total of eight colleges of agriculture and allied sciences, twenty-five research centres, and seventeen extension centres, including three Krushi Vigyan Kendra and five diploma polytechnic colleges under the aegis of Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University.
Admissions to the various courses available at SDAU are administered through the Gujarat State Agricultural Universities - Common Admissions portal. The university accepts JEE Main, GUJCET, CUET UG, and NEET scores for SDAU UG admissions. On the other hand, PG and PhD admissions at the university are done through the entrance exam conducted by ICAR. Students also get placement assistance from the university at the end of their course tenure.
