Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya (SJSV) is a state university which was established by the Orissa Act, 31 of 1981. It was the third Sanskrit university to be founded in India.SJSV Puri received its recognition from the University Grant Commission (UGC) and accreditation from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a ‘B+’ grade. SJSV has one undergraduate department for Sikshashastri, eight postgraduate teaching departments and a centre called the Centre of Advance Research in Sanskrit (CARS). SJSV Puri course list includes six courses namely, UG (Shastri, Sikshashastri - B.Ed ), PG (Aacharya), M.Phil (Visistacharya), PhD (Vidyavaridhi) and D.Litt.
The SJSV Puri admission criteria for Shastri courses is based on students' performance in qualifying examinations. Whereas, the Shiksha Shastri Entrance test (SSET) is conducted for admission to SJSV B.Ed admission. The university also conducts a Research Eligibility Test (RET) for SJSV Puri PhD admission. Students aspiring for admission in SJSU Puri must check their eligibility before applying for the desired programme. They must register and appear for the required entrance test conducted by the university. SJSV Puri merit list is published after the completion of the entrance examination. Selected candidates can take part in the counselling process and confirm their admission.
Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya has a career counselling cell to provide guidance and help to students. Apart from this, the university provides the required facilities to its students. SJSV Puri campus facilities and infrastructure include a computer centre, hostels, a central library, an auditorium, etc. SJSV scholarship is provided to meritorious students and the PG students are offered Rs 300 as a stipend. The university also grants fellowships and awards to students. Being one of the prestigious Sanskrit universities in India, SJSV's objective is to spread peace through Sanskrit in this materialistic world.

SJSV PURI Courses and Admission 2024
Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Visvavidyalaya Puri offers six courses through nine departments of study. SSJV Puri courses are offered at UG, PG and doctoral levels and cover a variety of subjects such as Veda, Advaita Vedanta, Jotirvigyan, Dharmashastra, Vyakarna and Sahitya.
SJSV Puri UG courses such as Shastri and Siksha Shastri (B.Ed) programmes are designed to provide a solid foundation to the students. The university conducts an entrance examination (SSET) for admission to the SJSV Puri B.Ed programme. The duration of this course is two years and the number of seats available for admission is 50.
SJSV Puri PG courses include the Acharya programme with a specialisation to choose from eight areas of study. Admission to this programme is also based on the entrance test conducted by the university. The number of seats available for this SSJV Acharya course is around 300. SJSV Puri fees for PG courses is very nominal and can be afforded by students belonging to low-economic backgrounds.

The SSJV admission criteria vary for various courses offered at the university. The criteria is set to check the eligibility of candidates and shortlist the qualified candidates. SJSV PURI Campus Facilities and Infrastructure
The campus of Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya is located in Puri spanning over 310 ha of land area. The university has a well-developed infrastructure with modern facilities for students. - Central Library - The university has a central library that has a collection of 35,000 books, 500 journals and 200 manuscripts. SJSV Puri library has a reading room with a seating capacity of 300 students.
