What students says about IEM Kolkata

  • Many MNCs have visited our college and made quite decent offers like TCS, CTS, INFOSYS, CAPGEMINI, ORACLE, IBM, DELOITTE, ACCENTURE and many more.
  • The admission process was done in three days and was done in a haphazard situation.
  • There are no reservation benefits from the college in terms of caste.
  • Students can also get admission using the process of management quota where one has to pay excess donations to receive admission to the college.
  • The support from the faculty was outstanding. Our college has a good reputation for placement and its high discipline. We experience the best infrastructure and support from the teachers.

Overall: I have chosen this course I have interest in IoT. The best thing is that our syllabus is updated. There are certain events that happens in our college. The college provides scholarships to students in need. I have got Rs 13000 of scholarship from the college.

Placement: The average package in our college is of 5LPA and the highest is around 19LPA. Oracle has offered the highest package. Accenture has offered around 150 students full time offers. Other companies which visit our campus include PwC, IBM, eQTechnologic and Bentley.

Infrastructure: The facilities available in our department are very good. Wi-fi is available throughout the campus. Classrooms are well lit. Library is open 24*7 whole year. Library also has desktops that can be used if you want to learn things online. All the departments have their separate labs.

Faculty: The teachers are very much helpful and supportive in nature. Some of the professors have done PhDs. The course curriculum is very much relevant as we are taught all the subjects that are required from job perspective. Semester exams are not hard. You can get good marks if you study a little bit.

Overall: Our college provides good placements. Almost 90% of students got placed in our course. The remaining students are going for higher studies. The highest salary package offered by Oracle is 18 LPA. The average salary package offered 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered by TCS is 3.36 LPA. Top recruiting companies are TCS, CTS, Mindtree, etc. They provide internship opportunities. Around 20% of students got internships at Keysight, NRI Fintech, etc. Top roles offered are analyst, graduate engineer trainee, etc. Infrastructure: Our college has all the necessary facilities like Wi-Fi, high-end labs, decent workshops, classrooms, and a good library. The library has many books. The cafeteria is nice. The hostel facilities are average. The mess and canteen facilities are average. Our campus is a bit small. They provide games and medical facilities. Faculty: Our teachers are helpful and qualified in their respective fields. They are knowledgeable. The teaching quality is up to the mark. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Exams are moderate. You have to study well and understand the concepts. The pass percentage is 80%. Other: The course curriculum is good. Many events and fests are held in our college.

Overall: I chose this course because as an ECE student I have chance for both it as well as core sectors and my marks is also a factor, I wanted computer Science but no worries ECE was also an option for me, I was not like a computer Science student in 12th I only wanted CS as IT industries are growing well and many of my well wishers gave me a lot of information about advantage of choosing CS or IT.

Placement: In my college the placement started at the end of third year that is in month of July and now while I am writing this review its the end of the month of October and about 70% and above from my branch have already got placed in some of the companies, some have even grabbed more than 1 offers. Now talking about the top companies visiting my colleges till now were ORACLE, JUSPAY, TEJAS, KEYSIGHT and some more. They offered an internship for (3 to 6) month with stipend of (35 to 45 thousand) and a PPO of ( 12 to 24 LPA). There were also 4 to 5 companies which came with offer letters ranging from (7 to 10 LPA) leaving the good paying companies there were some companies with offer letter of (3.5 to 6 LPA) and till this time there are about 15 to 20 companies which visited our college which is much better than other private colleges in which some of my friends are studying.

Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, Labs, classrooms, medical facilities and library these are quite good I mean above average, but when its comes to game or sports its not, because we have a small campus area and the rules followed here is more like a school than a college so you won't be getting any real fun for playing any sports, and talking about food (canteen) actually there are lot of stalls providing food just out side the GATE of our campus so 90% of students prefer to go out and have lunch only some teachers and staff member enjoy there food in the canteen, how ever I have also been to the canteen for 2 to 3 times and its not all that bad, but I enjoy eating out side with my friends because the rate of food available in our canteen is same as that of outside stalls.

Faculty: One of the things that I love about my college is the helpful nature of our teacher, they may help you in any way either its related to studies or your personal problems, teacher here are very cooperative and knowledgeable as well. We have 2 mid semester and 1 end semester exams which are not that difficult as our passing percentage is above 95 and some who fails are either due to absence in the exam or not attending the lab exams.

Overall: Placements: Almost 80 percent of students are placed every year. The average package is INR 5.5 LPA. Oracle and EQ Tech are two top companies that pay well. But generally, students get jobs at companies like Capgemini, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra. Generally, students get a package of INR 6 LPAs. Infrastructure: Teachers are very supportive. The libraries are also so good. 24*7 facilities are available. But hostels are not so good. The campus is also not good. But canteens are available. Some teachers are strict but it is good for students. Toilets are also clean every time. Faculty: Teachers are well qualified. They are very supportive. Very helpful in nature. They help with every project. Some teachers are strict but it is good. Lab facilities are also very good. Every time teachers are available in the lab, and every student should have a personal mentor. Other: I chose this for campus placement because placement is good at this college. It also feels avera

Overall: Not sure exactly, but about 95% of the students were placed in my course. Top recruiting companies include Amazon, Oracle, and Adobe. The highest package offered according to me was above 30 LPA (Amazon) with the lowest package being 3 LPA. Our college did not help the students with internships and the students got internships solely on their own merit. Infrastructure: We had two different campuses. The first year’s classes were conducted in one campus and the other three years we had classes in the other campus (though it’s at a walking distance). We had dedicated computer labs, Library, Classrooms with projectors along with an Electronics lab. We also had a dedicated games room but it was nothing fancy, just a large auditorium with some T.T. tables and carrom boards. We did have a basketball court. Quality of food was good. We had our own canteen and a medical center as well. Faculty: Teachers were really helpful and knowledgeable. We got hands-on learning experience. Semester exams were of moderate difficulty level. Passing percentage was 40%. In the first year, some subjects did not seem much relevant like environment studies. Though it’s an important subject but it does not have any direct relevance with Computer Science engineering. We had coding challenges and competitions. We could participate in hackathons.

A brief review of IEM, Kolkata.

Overall: I chose the course because in my childhood days I was really fascinated with electrical appliances. If in the course they would add some real life stuff and some new techniques which are being used nowadays, that would be better. Every year, we have one fest which is really big. Actually we did not expect much from the fest but it turned out to be really great

Placement: The placements are good compared to the other private colleges in the state. As per as my seniors, if you get around 7.5 or 8 CGPA, you will be allowed to sit for all the interview exams. Mostly TCS and Wipro comes to recruit from our college. On the website they show 8 LPA as the average salary package, but in reality, it around only 4 to 5 LPA.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure is quite good in comparison to the other colleges in Kolkata. They will provide you with all the equipments to do your projects and assignment work for the college. In my 1st year, we had a workshop where you need to do the mechanical stuff, and there you will get all the industry made machines you need for the job, which was really amazing to be honest.

Faculty: Most of the teachers are very helpful, they will guide you in every possible way. Most of them are very friendly except a few who can’t even talk for real. To be really honest, the course is useless and I am doing it only for the sake of getting a degree while trying to focus on my coding skills, ultimately that will only get you a job in today's scenario and job market.

Privileged to be a part of one of the best engineering colleges in India.
By SITA BABAN AKHADE

Overall: I got into this college through WBJEE counselling. I chose electronics and communication engineering because of its wide scope. ECE engineers can choose any pathway after graduation; they can go for IT or they can stick to the core field. There are a few things that could have been improved. There were no classes in the 4th year, as our college wanted the students to stay back at home and prepare for placements. Therefore, we were not able to learn much related to our course during our final year. Also, there is very poor junior-senior interaction in our college. The juniors will greatly benefit if they get proper guidance from their seniors. Also, there is scope for improvement in campus life. IEM has a very small and scattered campus. Moreover, there is no field inside the college campus. IEM has a lot of events going on throughout the year, like the IEM-UEM Marathon, IEMPACT (cultural fest), INNOVACION (technical fest), and so on.

Placement: The Institute of Engineering and Management is the best private engineering college in the whole of eastern India, in terms of academics and placements. We are from the 2024 passout batch, and even in times of recession, our college was able to provide decent placements. Approximately 80% of students from our college got placed this year, while the rest have chosen other fields like MBA, M.Teach, and other higher studies. While the highest package was that of Juspay (18 LPA), the lowest was that of 3.6 LPA (TCS Ninja). The average package was around 5 LPA. TCS, PWC, Deloitte, ITC Infotech, IBM, COGNIZANT, and Oracle are some of the renowned companies that visited our college this year. Most of the companies that visit our college are IT companies, and there are only a handful of core companies that visit our college. Unfortunately, our college doesn't provide any assistance for internships. But the students are free to apply for internships off-campus.

Infrastructure: Our college has excellent infrastructure for the students, but there is still a lot of scope for improvement. The entire college campus has Wi-Fi access. The labs are equipped with modern equipment. IEM Kolkata has a huge library with a wide and comprehensive collection of technical books and magazines. All the classrooms are equipped with projectors. But on the Gurukul campus, some of the classrooms are not equipped with proper benches, and there are chairs. So there is scope for improvement in this field. IEM Kolkata also provides hostel facilities. Even though the hostel rooms are clean and spacious, the hostel food is below standard.

Faculty: The teachers at IEM Kolkata are extremely helpful. Most of the teachers are highly qualified and experienced. The teachers help the students in every situation. The teachers are extremely dedicated, and the teaching quality was great. The course curriculum is extremely helpful and is designed according to current trends and requirements. But I would request that the college authority introduce hands-on coding into the curriculum, which would greatly benefit the students. Also, there are a few unnecessary subjects like ESP and SDP (where students are forced to read history and geography), which should be removed from the curriculum or made optional. So still, there is scope for improvement in this field. The semester exams are easy, and most of the students clear them

IEM Kolkata Review. Satisfied with faculty, placements, and facilities.

Overall: Placements for this session in 2024 are below average, considering the current job market situation. But I state that it actually gives good placements compared to other colleges that compete. This year, the overall placement rate may reflect the cautious hiring approach adopted by many companies. Infrastructure: I'm a day scholar, so I can't verify this. But I have heard from my friends that it is not that bad. They are affordable and comfortable. Good value for the hostel feels like you pay. Good Wi-Fi connectivity on campus. This ensures students have seamless access to online resources and digital libraries. Faculty: Decent faculty. Some pros are genuinely good and help with doubts, research, projects, and assignments. Exams are taken very often here, so you have to be on a roll all the time. Some are very invested in the success and learning of the students, focusing on areas for improvement and continuous professional development. Other: Campus life is terrible, is what I would like to add. Anyone searching for this college deserves to know this.

Overall: About 70% of students got placed in IT companies, and the rest got placed in core companies, among those who opted for placement. The freshers are going to get a similar package as any other CSE graduate. ECE has a growing scope in the future and IEM can be a good decision with it. Infrastructure: Great infrastructure, somewhat like school, but it's best for those who are interested in studying. In hostels, the gates are closed by 7 pm ( for boys). Labs are really good with well-equipped machines. Good ECE labs with friendly faculty members. Wi-Fi is also there. Faculty: One can get marks easily if they study the notes and pdfs given by the college itself. The curriculum has been autonomous since this year. It would be easier to score marks. There are regular exams, though. It's really strict about exams; one must have no backlog in placement time!

Overall: Previous year the placements were good; this year the list is not out yet, Previous year average was around 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies are from Oracle, Tcs, Wipro, IBM, etc. Internship opportunities are available by almost every student and the top roles offered from ECE are analyst, signaling, etc. Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi is average, it gets disconnected often and 1 gb is the limit for one day, The labs are good, but there is no AC, The classrooms are also average, no AC, The library is good, with AC and desktop and no noise. There is a gym and sports room where there are carrot, table tennis, pool games, etc. Faculty: Teachers are very helpful, except for a for a few. Almost all of them are qualified from top IITs and Jadavpur University to do their Masters and PhDs. This course makes the students ready for both hardware and software industries, as well as central government jobs.

IEM Kolkata does not offer an M.Sc in Biotechnology programme. The only M.Sc course available at IEM Kolkata is a two-year M.Sc in Computer Science programme. However, if you are in search of a college that offers M.Sc in Biotechnology in your region, you may fill out our Common Application Form. BBA is a 3-year graduate program. Those who are inclined towards management studies can opt for BBA. The course is one of the most popular courses and is renowned as a well-known course among the students. The students who graduate with a degree in BBA from LPU are qualified to give competitive exams, apply for the post of process managers, risk analysts, development executives, human resource managers, and many others. After completing BBA, you can apply for higher studies by joining dual or integrated programs. Placement companies: Various companies like Amazon, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, HCL, etc., offer on-campus job opportunities. Cognizant has a placement record of placing over 600 students in a single day. So, you should not worry about the placements. Students also get trained in the same company in which they are placed. After completing your BBA degree, you can pursue higher studies like MBA which is in the management field, again.
