SLC Campus
Shyam Lal College campus has renovated and modernised itself with updated academic and other technologies to grant the students a hassle-free modern pedagogy in the academic sector. The campus of SLC is built on 29,501 sq metres area on a 7,50,540 sq metres area of build-up space. The campus has sprawling gardens and greeneries to provide a serene space for academics in the college. There are facilities of 24/7 wifi-enabled internet connection, libraries, student societies, AV Learning, medical centres, cafeteria and more in SLC.
Library
The Shyam Lal College (SLC) Library is one of the centres for learning in the college. The library acts as a hub of knowledge with thousands of books, study materials, journals, research papers are stored. The SLC Library has a collection of 76,000 books and subscribed journals on various subjects on different fields. The library is air-conditioned for a convenient reading facility and the library is managed digitally with the latest software for efficient management.
Computer Lab
The computer lab in SLC is available to use by all the students and faculties for their academic and personal usages. The computer lab has access to high-speed broadband internet and also access to the Delhi University E-Resources like e-journals, e-books and more Audio-Video materials.
Cafeteria
The cafeteria avails packaged food, breakfast, lunch and slacks to the student and the faculties in an affordable subsidised price. The cafeteria provides students with a place to relax and interact with students with light-hearted chats out of their academic schedule. The cafeteria of SLC is a popular place for students to hang out and taste some hygienic and tasty food.
Bank
A branch of Central Bank of India with full ATM facilities are available in the campus. The students can open their accounts there for personal banking and college fee payment related options which are done through the bank.
Hostel
There are no Hostel Facilities available at Shyam Lal College, the students who take admission in the college have to depend on the nearby Paying Guest (PG) services which are present at a sufficient amount in the area.
Except that, the college is also PwD (Person with Disability) friendly. The college has sufficient ramps, elevators so that no PwD student feel uncomfortable to access any place inside the college. There is a PwD development cell as well.
Students Activities & Clubs
Music Club - Insignia: College Music Band since its inception around 6 years ago. The band has improved in recent times tremendously with various performances outside where the band was appreciated by everyone. The College Band has recently performed with Palash Sen at Vivekanand College. The Band also performed at Indira Gandhi Stadium promoting Delhi Govt’s Odd-Even formula and eco-travel. INSIGNIA creates fusion music with a Sufi touch and also does a lot of Western music. It has a strong Instruments base with as many as 4/5 guitarists in recent years. The Band has almost all necessary instruments for a good Band including Drums kit, keyboard, processor etc. New members are taken in every session after an Audition in the beginning of an academic session. Mr. Abbas is the Staff Advisor of the Band.
Movie Club - CINEPHORIA: The SLC Film Club was introduced in 2010 with an aim to discuss film as a form of art. The club was a platform for the budding film enthusiasts of the college to screen & discuss films that were of great value—ranging from its theme to its importance as a piece of work. The underlying motive of this club is to keep the spirit of films alive, to enhance it as an art form. And to fulfill that the club has been actively screening and discussing films of different kinds in its events. Cinephoria also organizes collaborative seminars and workshops with other academic departments and Societies. Collaborating with the Dramatics society, the Film Club, in early 2016, organized an enactment of a scene from the very film that was to be screened. Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 thriller Psycho found a new platform. TheFilm Club also screened films such as Life Is Beautiful andSatyajit Ray’s Devi, Duel, Il Postino, Sound of Music, The Grave of the Fireflies, Antony & Cleopatra, The Terminal etc. Cinephoria for the very first time in 2013-14 introduced SESTET, a six-film festival, which went for three days, two movies each day. 'SESTET' included the films Run Lola Run, Indiana Jones: Raider of the Lost Ark, The River, Waltz with Bashir, Midnight in Paris and KissaKursiKa. Film Club carried out a very ambitious initiative of organizing one film every week in 2012-13—which resulted in the screening of around 15-20 films across genres and periods. The Society also organized Screenings of two more films around the theme “Discords of Nation: Recordings through Cinema”, FiraaqandRamchand Pakistani on 19th March 2012. Also screened films with FYUP batches—films that were part of the curriculum.
Photography Club -
Debating Club - Sheershasth, the college Debating Society was started in the year 2010, with Ms. RuchiShrivastava being elected as its first President and subsequently Ms. Shubhrangana, Ms. PoojaBharadwaj, Ms. Riya Dwivedi and Mr. Rajat Ahuja as Presidents and active members in the following years. In 2011, The Debating Society of ShyamLal College organized its first Inter College Parliamentary Debate, in collaboration with the Students Union of the college. The debate was held in the Parliament of India. Sheershasth (the present name), re-formed in 2014, organized a first-ever inter-college MUN meet on 11 February, 2015 in the Seminar Hall of the College. MUN, i.e. Model United Nations is an educational simulation and academic competitions in which students (acting as delegates) learn about diplomacy, international relations and the United Nations through involving in activities like public speaking, debating and writing skills as well. Delegates discussed on the following topics such as Environmental issues, International terrorism, Permanent membership in UNSC (United Nations Security Council). Students of our college always show their extreme level of speaking skills and immense level of enthusiasm in the event. With great support from the college, its authorities, co-ordinating and the student members of the society, Sheershasth feels privileged in giving a platform to the budding speakers and mark a milestone in the college’s growth. In 2015, Sheershasth was reconstituted again and held events such as an intra-college conventional debate competition on the topic “Woman is the companion of man having equal mental capacities” and a mega MUN, an inter-college event held in the College on Article 370 with special highlights on the recent JNU crisis. The Debating Society of the college, thus, keeps the spirit of secular debate uplifted among the youth for a stimulating atmosphere present and an intellectually brighter tomorrow.
English Club -
Quiz Club - The Quiz Society is a platform for all college students to come forward and participate in various Quiz programmes organized in the college. It has been a very successful society so far, producing some of the best events. In 2016, the Society hosted a Quiz on “Indian Freedom Struggle” on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to inculcate the feeling of patriotism in the students. More than 60 students from different departments of the college participated in the event. Another Quiz on “General Awareness” was also held in the same year with questions based on Current affairs, Sports, Literature, Monuments, and Corporate awareness etc. The Quibble, overall, has a brilliant co-curricular record in recent years and ambitiously looks ahead to organizing many more Quiz events in the college and train students across all disciplines in this endeavour.
Dance Club - The “RISING STAR DANCE TROUPE” formed five years ago on 9th Jan 2012, armed only with passion and determination, despite the absence practice halls, funds or proper costume went to various colleges to perform. In the session 2014-15, the society reached its pinnacle when they secured second position in the Delhi University cultural fest “ANTARDHVANI” in choreography round. They also performed in various events and won a number of prizes too. In 2015-16, with 20 members now and under the guidance of Mini Sinha, the group attended workshops at Conquest Dance Center, MayurVihar and also other workshops in Delhi. Specializing in pure western & urban this year, they performed in UshaLaxmi Mittal Institute of Delhi and secured Second position by beating 25 teams. They also participated in Indraprastha Engineering College (Ghaziabad) & got third position. They were invited by Hansraj College to perform in their event. We also participated in JamiaMilliaIslamia and in Jankidevi Memorial College, among others. The Dance society has done all of these without a permanent practice room and it is their earnest request that they be provided with a space of their own which is safe for their limbs and bones and also safe from prying eyes.
Economics Club - The mission of the eco club is "Go Green initiative" to raise the students' "interest" over environmental issues and to get the students actively involved in environmental matters from their own area. The club also seeks to conserve nature's heritage by education and direct conservation efforts to spread awareness about good environmental practices like for a ban on plastic, proper dumping of garbage, planting of tress etc. within Shyam Lal College.
Social Club - The socially aware students of our College are very much awake to the needs of nation building and social upliftment. The National Cadet Corps and the National Service Scheme offer ample opportunities to students to learn and contribute in these fields. It is compulsory for students to join either NCC or NSS and participate in their diverse programs. Both these units of our College are quite dynamic and have provided our students with opportunities to participate in a wide array of activities, and the students can choose either, depending on their interest. While the NSS unit regularly organizes Blood Donation Camps and social awareness campaigns for our students to participate in, the NCC offers them basics military training. Students enrolled with the NCC unit are instructed in rifle shooting, the use of ammunitions, basics first-aid, mountaineering and trekking through tough terrains, along with participation in drills and parades.

Placement Cell Club -
The college Placement Cell acts as an interface between the industry and the students and primarily enables the students to select career of their choice from among available options. It facilitates the selection process of all the companies as per their requirement. The college Placement Cell liaisons with corporate/ organizations to provide suitable jobs for the candidates completing their studies from the college. It also liaisons for all those activities and issues assigned to it by the Principal.
The college Placement Cell also proposes to conduct seminars, workshops, training sessions and all such other necessary activities which it feels necessary for up-liftmen and up-gradation of our students to enable them to become successful professionals.
Women Empowerment Club -
The College, in its effort to maximize the teaching learning outcome, has established WDC that offer unique platform and opportunity to the students to have a wholesome learning experience. The important events organized and initiatives taken by this Centre has evidently opened the minds of the students to newer ways of thinking. WDC have taken up cross-cutting issues related to professional challenges and social anomalies etc..
Recently as per the guidelines of the University of Delhi, SLC has formed the Women Development Cell (WDC) in the academic year 2015-2016. WDC, in collaboration with Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), has conducted workshops, counseling sessions, film screenings, and nukkad naatak for both students and staff members. WDC and ICC also organized workshops separately for students, teaching faculty and the office staff on "Gender Sensitization" by Ms. Kamla Bhasin, the eminent social and gender activist. Both WDC and ICC teacher members regularly attend workshops and training programmes organized by the WSDS, University of Delhi and other such agencies. WDC has started gender counseling on bimonthly basis from 2016-17 session so as to provide a forum to students (both girls and boys) where they can unhesitatingly articulate and clear their gender and other behavioral related queries. WDC is also organizing UGC-ICSSR sponsored National Conference on "Gender and Popular Culture: Representations and Embodiment" on 14-15 Dec, 2016. The Conference aims at addressing the existing gender bias in the society as represented in the media and the cross-cultural context.

Hostel: The dorms all will be different to you - some ones are pretty modern & good looking, the other is pretty bad and old-fashioned. The standard girly style of cramped, gazillion-dollar dorms here but I guess, that's the experience.

ReportInfrastructure: The infrastructure is decent... although there isn't any auditorium like many other college have and the campus is smaller then other colleges but it gives a cozy vibe!
Hostel: There are no hostels provided by the college you have to find flats on your own. You can easily find apartments near the college at affordable rates and you can easily travel by metro.
