Tezpur University (TU Tezpur) is located in the mythic city of Assam, Tezpur, nestled between the Eastern Himalayas and the Brahmaputra River. The 262-acre sprawling campus provides the best infrastructure in the northeast and all the necessary facilities. Tezpur University lives up to students' expectations in terms of diverse courses, a robust curriculum, ample exposure, research facilities, and a holistic learning environment. It also represents the well-balanced male-to-female ratio of 54:46.
A total of 71 courses are offered under the umbrella of Tezpur University at the undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), diploma, and doctoral levels. Tezpur University courses are available in multiple disciplines, such as Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Management, and Engineering. The university has a relatively smaller batch size of around 3581 students, as per the NIRF 2023 report. However, the admission process is entrance-test-based, which is not so easy to crack!

Tezpur University has been ranked in four categories of the NIRF ranking, which is commendable! However, a constant decline is clearly visible in the overall, university, and engineering rankings. We must question: Why is it so? One of the reasons can be a lack of effort to maintain the standard of the university. Therefore, the university can pay more attention to better its rankings through analyzing the scope of improvement in areas like student intake, academic facilities, research facilities, academic expenditure, placements, etc.
Tezpur University Academia & Batch Size
Tezpur University uses a multidisciplinary approach to provide a holistic learning environment for its students. It follows the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) which comprises open electives. It provides students with enough flexibility in their choice of Tezpur University courses as per their interests. The performance of students is measured through their Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). It corresponds to a comprehensive and cumulative assessment of students’ academic progress.
The pedagogy includes theory and practical approaches such as classroom teaching, laboratory sessions, projects, assignments, industrial visits, international visits, and internships. As per student reviews, the curriculum is updated and provides enough exposure. However, maintaining 90% attendance is a little challenging for students!

According to the NIRF 2023 report, the batch size for 2021-22 was 3581, which is not that big for a central university.

Overall, the academia at Tezpur University is comprehensive and flexible. The implementation of the CBCS by the university shows that the university strives to keep its course curriculum updated and trendy. This helps its students compete on the national level for further education. Taking the small batch size of the university into consideration, Tezpur University is able to deliver quality education and exposure. However, the batch size needs to be improved to make it more accessible to a larger student demographic.
Tezpur University Infrastructure
Tezpur University boasts of sophisticated infrastructure and adequate facilities. Classrooms:
The classrooms at Tezpur University are well-furnished with high-quality furniture and ICT facilities. All the classrooms are equipped with projectors and whiteboards. Also, many smart classrooms and special classrooms are available in every department.
Auditorium/Seminar Halls/Labs:
Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha (KBR) Auditorium is the main auditorium of Tezpur University. It is fully air-conditioned and equipped with a modern multimedia facility with a seating capacity of 850 people. Apart from that, Tezpur University has various seminar halls in different departments and fully equipped labs, as per student reviews.
Library:
The central library at Tezpur University is fully air-conditioned and well-stocked with books and other reading materials. As per students, the library is open until 12 am and 365 days a year.
Internet:
Tezpur University provides 24x7 Wi-Fi access across the campus. Students get their login ID and password from their respective departments.
Hostel:
Tezpur University offers one of the best hostel facilities in the region, as per students feedback. Single, double, and triple occupancy rooms are available with facilities like beds, study tables, almirahs, mess, daily cleaning, washing machine, TV area, Wi-Fi coverage, medical facilities, and recreational area. However, Tezpur University, being a fully residential university, makes it a compulsion for all degree students to reside in the university hostels only.
Activities:
As per students opinion, Tezpur University organises regular co-curricular, extracurricular, and sports activities. Fests and events are conducted on a seasonal basis.

Indeed, Tezpur University offers impressive infrastructure and facilities with a wide scope for students to learn, explore, and get exposure. The availability of library facilities for 365 days really helps students, especially research scholars. The internet facility on campus further adds to the convenience of students, as they can access all the required study materials at their fingertips. However, the compulsory hostel and mess expenses can burn a hole in some students' pockets.

Tezpur University offers internships to UG and PG students across various courses. It publishes notices regarding internship opportunities, and eligible students can apply online. Most of the students believe that Tezpur University provides sufficient internship opportunities to the students.
Tezpur University Placement 2022:
Tezpur University offers placement training and opportunities through its active training and placement cell. According to the NIRF 2023 report, Tezpur University’s placement percentage for the 2021-22 batch is 54%. Furthermore, 46% of UG (4-year) and 17% of PG (2-year) students were placed. However, no student from UG (3-year) and PG (1-year) has been placed which is a little disappointing.
Various university students are of the opinion that BTech CSE students get most of the jobs and average packages as compared to other courses like MBA. On the other hand, Tezpur University lags in offering ample and high-paying job opportunities.

Considering the smaller batch size of Tezpur University, the placement percentage is relatively low. It appears that Tezpur University’s placement cell isn’t efficient enough to provide decent job opportunities to its students. The placement rate across different programmes is quite disappointing. While students praised the available internship opportunities, the lack of adequate and quality placements defeats the entire purpose. The university must improve in terms of placements to make itself a more career-oriented university, which is the need of the hour.

More than 80% of the students at Tezpur University are from the home state of Assam and 20% from other states of India. This creates an image of a less popular university outside Assam when it comes to Tezpur University admission. Also, the international diversity at the university is negligible. However, it has a balanced gender ratio, with 46% female and 54% male students. At least, it has gender diversity!

Tezpur University has a promising regional presence and a good gender ratio. It is commendable that a large number of female students find the university fit for higher education. However, it lacks in terms of interstate and international diversity. There can be various reasons for the low diversity at Tezpur University, such as location, popularity, batch size, and individual preferences.
Tezpur University Faculty/College Administration & Management
Tezpur University is a mixed bag in terms of faculty and administration. Our research finds Tezpur University’s faculty team is experienced and generally student-friendly, while experiences with administration may vary. The majority of student interactions with faculty appeared positive. However, there were few mentions of incidents that could be changed to improve classroom comfort and engagement.
As per the NIRF 2023 report, Tezpur University has around 293 faculty members out of which 290 are permanent. The majority of them are PhD holders and a few hold M.Tech, MDes, MA, LLM and MCom degrees. The average teaching experience is 11.26 years and some faculty of Tezpur University hold 30+ years of experience. Additionally, the faculty-student ratio is 1:12 which is considered good.

Tezpur University is located at Napaam, Tezpur, in the northeastern state of Assam, India. Students can use local transport to visit the university, as it is well connected via roads. The nearest bus stop is the Biswanath Chariali Bus Stop, and Dekargaon is the nearest railway station. Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, located in Guwahati City, is the nearest airport. It is around 200 km away from the Tezpur University campus. Just too far!
Tezpur University: Expectation vs Reality CLD Verdict!
Tezpur University offers a serene environment, top-class infrastructure, and facilities to its students. It provides satisfactory exposure and research facilities that surely help students in their overall development. However, for a university catering to a relatively smaller batch, Tezpur University disappoints with the placements. Overall, taking the fee structure into consideration, which ranges from INR 34 K to 70 K per year, the ROI somehow balances.

Overall: One of best campus over North East India.The university has may Green space and well maintained Specially the library is very big overall the program which are offer to the students is wide.
Placement: The Tezpur university placement sell actively collaborates with Various industries to invite companies for recruitments and to conduct their selection process over there.The University cell assists in securing internships.
Infrastructure: With the environment friendly infrastructure, The University has both Modern and traditional facilities in campus. Central library, Hostel, Laboratory has lastest features on it. High speed internet access in there throughout the university
Faculty: The faculty always ready to support student. One thing I notice The syllabus which is given by the faculty always well organised and clear outline of expectations.The interactive discussions with facilitate encourage participation for the various field and critical thinking.
Hostel: Overall Hostel provide Supportive and Welly maintenance staffs.The University hostel is equipped with security features uch as controlled access (not allowed outsiders after 10PM), surveillance cameras.
ReportOverall: Our college organises various events like Techxetra, Insignia, cultural night, annual meet, cultural rally, adventure sports, etc., every year. If we say in one sentence, then Tezpur University is the best campus we have ever experienced.
Placement: Companies like ITC, colgate, OYO, ICICI, SBI, Federal bank etc. Comes for recruitment. Average package is about 5 LPA. They provides internship opportunity too.
Infrastructure: Many facilities are provided by the university like a central library, Wi-Fi, medical facility, etc. The quality of labs and classrooms are highly furnished.
Faculty: Teachers are very friendly and helpful towards the students. They are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is also good. They motivate thier students at every point of time.
Hostel: All the hostels have basic amenities like water purifiers, common room, recreation room, mess, TV, laundry services, security and surveillance system etc.

Placement: University has been working hard with stimulating efforts on a Path Breaking Recruitment Record for its Young Talented Minds from Various Academic Programs. Compaines like Havells, Fortis, LifeCell, Vodafone, 99Acres, Superhouse group and many more companies came to hire you.
Infrastructure: The campus is very good, it provides big ground where we were played without any problem. The canteen was decent, with a clean environment, and hostel rooms were good as well
Hostel: The College provides separate hostels for boys and girls with home-like food and other facilities. The students have been provided with all sorts of facilities for in-door and out-door games.

Placement: Almost 98-95% of students got placed in this course. op recruiting company is Lenskart. Around 95-99% of students got internships at Lenskart, Era Hospital, and other hospitals.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, laboratories, big classrooms with projectors in each class, libraries, etc. are there. The quality of food is amazing in our college canteen. We have good ground. And we play badminton, cricket and various other games
Faculty: The faculty were really good and even the teachers were super friendly and helped us with our placements. the other staff members were also super friendly and super helpful
Hostel: The Hostel facility is too good; it doesnt feel like a Hostel. Everyone is friendly, and the environment is also amazing. You will be sharing a room with a classmate in one of the residence halls while learning from all around the world. You could come in to a residential programme that helps you make the most of every University moment.
ReportOverall: I studied BTech in CSE from Tezpur University and during the four years my teachers were very supportive. Overall the university is good for CSE course as the fees is low and the placements are good. I received Rs 5 LPA package during campus placements. The university also has hostel accommodations at a reasonable price.
Placement: Tezpur University placement cell was very attentive towards students who registered for placements. We were provided with extra classes to improve our skills. We also got to visit various companies during the industrial visits. During the campus placement, I was able to get a job and the package was Rs 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: Tezpur University Infrastructure is amazing and it has all the required buildings for each department. For example, the Computer Science and Engineering department has an advanced computer lab. While for botany there were various medicinal gardens, etc.
Faculty: Tezpur University faculty for teaching were 20 in total. Most of them had completed their PhD and the minimum qualification among them was PG like MTech or MCA. My favourite teacher was Mr Debojir Boro.
Hostel: At Tezpur University hostel the food was to die for! The university charged us Rs 19,200 per year for the mess fee. The hostel mess had both veg and non-veg options with evening snacks every day. The hostel seat rent was only Rs 675 per semester while the admission fee was Rs 2000 per year.
ReportOverall: I am Rahul who studied BTech in Civil Engineering from Tezpur University and passed out in 2022. In the final year, the college invited many recruiters and I was able to land a job of Rs 4 LPA. In my experience the university provides the best teachers for our course. The hostel accommodation was also affordable. To get admission to BTech at Tezpur University I qualified JEE Main exam.
Placement: Tezpur University placements in 2022 (when I graduated) was very good as I was able to land a job even though I am a mediocre student. I got placed in TCS with Rs 4 LPA package. I also got an offer from Wipro but the package was just Rs 3 LPA so I rejected that.
Infrastructure: There is no doubt that Tezpur University infrastructure was amazing as the university had everything inside the campus from hostels to classrooms. Our university has guest houses, sports facilities, medical facilities, a library, a computer centre, and much more!
Faculty: Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmad was our HOD for the Civil Engineering course. My favourite teacher was Dr Utpal Kumar Das. He was a true inspiration for me. He used to mix real-life experience with the prescribed syllabus to make the classes more interactive.
Hostel: I particularly loved the time I spent in the TU Tezpur hostel. The hostel admission fees was Rs 2000. While the mess fees was Rs 19,200 per year. Hostel seat rent was free for me as I belong to SC category. The mess provided us with both veg and non veg food options.
ReportOverall: Has very fine campus which is eco-friendly as it indulges very fine planning to be both conservative and student friendly. With several activities aligned to match the credit system which is non-transferable yet keen attention is paid to student teacher ratio. As such the seat availability per batch for admission is not constant to ensure the best efforts of the teaching strength to deliver an overall quality.
Infrastructure: Has built in solar energy system of which more than 50% of consumed energy is self replenished through. Also, library system is well equipped. With security arrangements within required nooks and hooks, its apt to say it's a safe environment.
Hostel: Not only do they allow the students to board but hassle free opportunities is that for the visitors too on a minimal charge of less than 100 rs per night. The mess fees by far is very cheap and the provision for cooking gas in case anyone may need to, adds a surplus to the same.
ReportOverall: I directly come to the point Tezpur University is a good university if u can handle the pressure it provides. Exams held frequently and marking system is base on average. Overall it's a good university
Placement: Only engineering students get placement, mostly from Master of Computer Application department and sometimes from Master of Business Administration department. No placement happens from humanities
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the University is outstanding. There 12schools like school of science, engineering, humanities etc. The university is full of greenery
Hostel: Hostels are good with good environment and food, except the dormitory one. If you be the topper among the boys than you can get a single room in Research Scholar hostel, otherwise all hostels are two-seaters. Washroom facilities are good

Placement: The University has its own placement cell where companies and organisations come to select the students for jobs. The placement records are very good of this university.
Infrastructure: Tezpur University has modern infrastructure to support its academic and research endeavours. The campus is very good and full of greenery and the classroom are also well equipped, it has a central library for the students and lecture halls for interactive sessions and laboratory and many more.
Faculty: The faculty of Tezpur University are expert and experienced educators and researchers dedicated to academic excellence . They mentor students and help the students.
Hostel: There are 7 boys 8 girls hostel in Tezpur University. The Hostel life is one of the best thing of this University. There is running water almost at everything of the day and electricity too. There is unlimited wifi also and the mess provides 3 time meals in a day.
ReportOverall: Tezpur University is one of the best government universities present in Assam. Situated in Tezpur but known all over North Eastern Regions because of its diversity in courses and student friendly schedule. The departments are near hostel area and is easy for students to reach and attend the classes on time. The professors are knowledgeable and know how to help the students to tap their own potential in the subject of interest. Overall Tezpur University is top level University and has potential to help growth and development of growing minds of the students.
Placement: The placements in Tezpur university is continuously conducted at regular intervals by the hiring companies. At first the selected students are needed to have at least 1 year of internship experience for the job post. Overall the University placements are good but only a handful of graduates are selected.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of Tezpur University includes the arrangement of hostels, departments of various courses, administrative buildings, recreational areas, etc. These are aligned in such a way that it gives an modern landscape and picturesque effect to the person who is visiting and living in the campus. The buildings are old but are constantly under upgrade in ever regular intervals. There are ponds and libraries for students to keep their mind calm and can focus on their studies better. Overall the infrastructure is quite good for a University.
Faculty: The faculty in Tezpur university is divided by courses. Different courses have different specific faculties. Mostly in general, every faculty consists of Dean, Head of the Department, Professors, Assistant Professors, Associate professors, lab assistants, etc. The faculty of every courses are responsible and disciplined and have active participation in every aspects from curricular to non-curricular activities.
Hostel: The Hostel is the main soul for the students. Good hostel buildings and environment impacts every students life positively. Getting to the point, the hostels are located inside the campus of the university, so there is no travel issue and no problem in attending classes. The hostel of boys and girls of both UG and PG students are separated. The corridors are clean and the buildings are renovated at regular intervals. Hostels are built closer to the departments so it becomes easy for the student to reach the classes on time. Overall the Hostels and hostel life here in Tezpur University is quite good and student friendly.
